Every year I scan the major planetary stations, eclipses and strong planetary configurations to see what I can glean in terms of planetary weather for the year to come. I create myself a cheat sheet that hangs on my noticeboard for the year. I carry over the previous year or two lest I forget that there have been configurations that are far from dormant.
Note these word links will take you to the trends for each sign - knowing what is coming in terms of challenges helps cope with that inevitable change and growth. Aries - Taurus - Gemini - Cancer - Leo - Virgo - Libra - Scorpio - Sagittarius - Capricorn - Aquarius - Pisces
The first thing I check is Jupiter and what sign he will occupy for the year. Last year (2001) he spent the first part of the year in Gemini and changed into its sign of exaltation, Cancer, in mid-July. In 2000 Jupiter had the grand conjunction with Saturn in Taurus - cannot forget that one - it is active for 20 years. That grand conjunction occurred at 23° Taurus, which was preceded by the Taurus alignment in May of 2000. We know from traditional astrology that planets in their signs of exaltation are supposed to be good - I personally think that we have got that a little wrong - planets in their own signs and in exaltation are STRONG. Transiting planets set things in motion, and provide wonderful timing tips - they give us the when. We have been witnessing the strength of Jupiter while he is been travelling through the sign of Cancer. The quincunx to Pluto at the end of 2001 was a woozy, and when you think that the Taurus alignment is alive and active, the "imaginary" yod to Pluto who was opposed by Saturn you can perhaps put some of the happenings into perspective.
A yod forms a pointer, it is also referred to as the finger of God. The pointer, Pluto, wants to abolish, eliminate, destroy, kill and weed out anything that is not sustainable or worthwhile and Saturn of course is against this. Saturn is about more than just boundaries; it is about control, calculated elimination, calculated change and he does not favour tearing down structures that could be repaired instead. This stressful configuration won't ease up until we reach May and the final opposition between the two planetary giants passes. The quincunx aspect is about continuous adjustment and that is the energy we launch the new year with, the final opposition in May is about a tug war, compromise and coming to a palatable consensus. So that just from what Jupiter has done from either the purely star based, astrological perspective or what can be astrologically attributed to Jupiter. And let's not forget with whom he has buddied up with thus far.
On the plus side Jupiter moves into Leo this summer (2002) and it is not strong in Leo, the element of fire is nice as it is inspired, generous (Leo), gregarious and back to promising big things and delivering a little less and less along the lines of our expectations. Jupiter as we know is grand expectations, and in light of the path he has trampled along to get to this zodiacal position, which has been a bit of a jungle, we should know that those expectations won't be fully met. The price we pay the piper when it comes to Jupiter is less in Leo than it was in Cancer, because this time only our egos get bruised not our emotions. Leo is about romance (the wooing), creativity (the inspiration) and children (the seed we planted), and it is about having fun. The global economic downturn or recession (I call it depression) that reached a pivotal point with Jupiter in Cancer may not feel so bad once Jupiter gets into Leo, because our mood will have changed. The depression filtered down to other things than money, there seemed to be more people that were feeling depressed than normal. There is always an upturn with Leo and the markets, but the bigger upturn might be that despite of what is going on we as people are going to want to have some of more FUN.
Jupiter is about MORE. Jupiter in Leo might have to do with real estate, gambling, ventures, and he is more likely to take a risk in Leo than in Cancer. Sometimes speculation pays off, but do resist the temptation to mortgage the home to finance a trip to Vegas, because with Jupiter you can also loose BIG. Jupiter really isn't about getting something for nothing, although sometimes we anticipate it that way, we build unrealistic expectations. Do you realize that there are thousands of people out there who firmly believe their retirement funds are going to be generated by a lottery win, it isn't even an if for them only a when. Who else could play you like that but Jupiter?
Jupiter is about giving. Santa Claus - who oddly enough has his day when the Sun is Capricorn (tropically), is definitely a Jupiterian fellow. He doesn't get but unselfishly gives. Curiously enough St. Nick was a priest, who did good deeds. We need to remember that Christmas and the festival of the Sun are the two events that were merged into December 24-25, so that the church could tell the pagans celebrating the return of the Sun that they were actually celebrating a religious Christmas.
From a predictive point the shift by Jupiter is likely to bring about a more positive approach, make people more likely to have fun and the entertainment industry might boom with it. People slowly emerging from economic or emotional hardship want to have distractions. Laughter is good medicine for most things that ail us. The real estate market might turn up as well, and the mortgage rates are likely to start climbing up. And when the nodal axis shifts in 2003 the buyers market in real estate may be just a memory as the nodes of the Moon shift from the mutable axis of Gemini (North) - Sagittarius (South) to the fixed axis of Taurus (North) - Scorpio (South). When it comes to real estate the nodal axis in mutable signs has the interest rates fluctuating, and the fixed axis stabilizes the fluctuation and when the fixed axis is the MONEY one as this one is, the trend is up. My astrological take on the mortgage rates have me contemplating re-mortgaging in February or May, I am a little undecided yet because with or without astrology you still need to do the math.
The nodal axis shifts approx. once every 19 months (October 2001 into Gemini/Sagittarius) and April 2003 (into Taurus/Scorpio) and astrologically speaking I view it as the hands on the compass of time, in terms of time that we can readily relate to. The shift brings two new areas of life into focus. The north node is pointing at where you need to focus your energies and find your goals for the next year and a half. The south node is the point of letting go. It's not wise to think too drastically here - this is part of a longer cycle of 19 years - it is never all of it but parts. Letting go for the Scorpio end might simply mean unloading mutual funds that are not performing especially if the money elements in your chart are highlighted. Or learning to delegate better at work/home/play and eliminating parts that hold you back if the work/career areas in the natal chart are highlighted. All of what I have discussed so far are transits, the transits alone bring nothing they have to have a sounding board. You might have the kind of chart where these configurations play out in the background and you simply get to watch someone else go through it - life isn't that simple and straightforward that one statement applies to all. In other words these transits need to activate a configuration or an area in your chart for you to experience any of it personally.
Before we do get respite and status quo partially returns, we have the Moon's nodes travelling through the trap-laden territory of Gemini - Sagittarius (the planetary giants Saturn and Pluto are visiting these signs) throughout 2002. Mutable signs are also referred to as changeable - this is flexible, malleable and adaptable energy that is being restructured and recreated by the planet of time, boundaries and by the planet of death and taxes. The changes are in motion and the nodes are an integral part of defining what these are likely to be. With Gemini we know we are looking at transportation and the industries related to it, we are looking at commerce at a retail type level and we are in for changes regarding basic education and health care. In British Columbia this is evident now the wheel is in motion. It is evident elsewhere on the globe as well, our take on it depends on our perceptions and what it is we allow to filter into our world. Astrologically speaking we are the centre of our universe and our perceptions are limited or broadened by our own wheel (astrological chart/horoscope).
The Gemini north node might bring other travel related things into focus such as passports, visas and it wouldn't surprise me if they created a new travel document for crossing the longest unprotected border at the 49th parallel. In Europe the member countries of the European Union now have one passport. In Europe a new currency has been adopted by the majority of European countries, and the old currencies will not longer be legal tender after the 1st of the year. Would it surprise us if somehow a common currency between Canada and US was created during these times - probably not.
How literal can these transits be at times? Here is a personal story of a Saturn/South Node transit in my 6th house of work. In December I wrote two columns, the second one was badtrans(its) in light of the aptly named computer virus. On Christmas Day my home computer (Mercury rules my 6th) died (it is only three months old). This is preventing me from updating the web-sites (part of my work). It is putting limitations (Saturn) on my communication with colleagues (co-workers in astrology - 6th house issue). On the other end of the spectrum it is teaching me to become more resourceful (Pluto on North Node) on getting my writing done (in the 12th house). My research (Pluto) notes are safely stored on a computer that is not willing the release its grip (Saturn) on the information or my back up of it. This has forced (Pluto) me to think differently, and work on finding solutions not focusing on the problems.
Take the little story above, and relate it to things that might happen globally, and we might have communication, transportation, foreign affairs, global communications and the service industry become "paralyzed" temporarily until new ways of thinking and doing business can emerge. Structures left standing are the viable ones, otherwise there will be tearing down and replacing. Restructuring in the corporate world has become almost common place, it hurts if you are involved but it is inevitable. In our area, Seattle's Boeing comes to mind, they are in an industry that is described by the astrology and we know that the wheels are already in motion. (July 19, 1934, 9:30 AM - Seattle, WA) This chart has its ruler, Mercury, at 14°Cancer, the station by Jupiter took place on it in November. Saturn/Pluto is taking place on Boeings MC/IC axis and Uranus is adding pressure in the 6th house of its employees. We know that the corporate head quarters were relocated, that massive layoff notices were issued and what is yet to come? The final Saturn/Pluto will trigger the MC/IC axis again, as will the eclipses - a candidate for restructuring? Later in the year the Venus cycle might bring in some cash flow problems for this particular corporation.
Mercury retrograde motion is the second thing that happens every year. This year the retrograde stations occur in air signs (see graphic). Air is intellect, ideas, intellectual aspirations, rationalization and plans in the form of thought patterns. We typically read that these three periods lasting approx. three weeks each are good for any action that is preceded with the prefix re. That is to redo, rethink, revise, rewrite, realign, revamp, renovate, and my personal favourite repair (not a prefix word) especially things like cars, wiring and computer equipment. These are not good times for buying cars, computers or anything else with wiring. Neither are these good times for signing on the dotted line, as errors in thoughts, writing or plans will likely emerge. These are however excellent times for perfecting projects already in motion.
Typically the Mercury retrograde periods occur six times within an element. Air repeats from 1988-89. Theme continues from 2001 when two of the three were in an air sign. In January 2003 we are into the earth element once again.
People who have their Mercury in an air sign may find this the most difficult of Mercury's travel plans, as thinking logically, rationally and clearly is more challenging. People around the air intellect, which is the one who starts the sentence in the middle and thinks you can follow their thought patterns, may frustrate the air Mercury person even more. Fortunately these are short time frames. For fire sun signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) the solar 3rd, 7th and 11th houses become activated - communication, relationships and friends and acquaintances and of course the car (put some money aside for additional repair work for the car). For earth sun signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) the solar 2nd, 6th and 10th houses become activate - money, possessions, work/chores and career - as always with retrograde Mercury these issues need to be revisited and revised. For water sun signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) solar 4th, 8th, and 12th houses are charged, these are the most karmic of places the home, the house of irrevocable change - death, rebirth, taxes, inheritances, debt, and the house of fear, the past and isolation. With the retrograde phase the time allocated for dealing with these issues is of course longer than the normal breeze through by Mercury. For the air signs the solar 1st, 5th and 9th are lit up by Mercury's retrograde stations, it's the self, the house of creativity, romance and children, as well as long distance travel or communication, and long term goals/desires. We went through this last year already so more of the same but on the next level so to speak. But last year we also had Venus and Mars do their slow dance and might have sort of missed what Mercury had to say, so he'll speak up again or maybe not.
The next thing I note is that Venus is doing a retrograde station again, once every 18 months. In January we have the heliacal rising of Venus, as she shifts into being the evening star. Venus spends 9 months as an evening star and 9 months as the morning star. The morning star phase always starts with the retrograde. Last year Venus was retrograde in Aries the warrior sign ruled by Mars. This October she will station retrograde in Scorpio, which is traditionally ruled by Mars. (Please note that the modern ruler of Scorpio is Pluto, but I personally no longer allocate Uranus, Neptune and Pluto as rulers of astrological signs rather I use traditional rulers, based on my studies and experience as an astrologer). The Venus retrograde cycle in Scorpio repeats from 8 years ago 1994.
This particular cycle started in 1962 and the final one is in 2050 (12 in all). The station in 1962 was at 29°Scorpio this one the 6th in the cycle is at 15° and the one to follow in 2010 will be at 12°, approx. 2° 30' earlier in sign each time and approx. 2 days earlier than the previous one. October 23 in 1962 and October 10 in 2002. A predictable cycle. (The Aries cycle started in 1961). The 18-month cycle occurs within 5 cycles - the current ones are Virgo 1911- 2015, Aquarius 1918 - 2005, Aries 1961-2057, Scorpio 1962 - 2050, and Gemini 1996 - 2092.
The Venus retrograde station and its retrograde period of approx. 40 days and 40 nights (such a biblical reference) in Scorpio (October 10 - November 21 - that's 42 this time) brings values, money, priorities, debt, taxes, intimate relationships and life and death into sharpened focus. Scorpio is the sign that deals with issues that all have been a taboo at one time or another, or still are. We do not discuss our income with even our friends, we avoid thinking about death, and the part of life we are talking about is the actual act of how we conceive - most of us don't want to discuss that either. Scorpio is the sign that digs in deep to find both the good and the bad. When an inner planet is retrograde we think in terms of the prefix re. With Venus it is re-evaluate or revalue. Is this relationship worth salvaging? Is this effort (regardless of where it is extended) worth the rewards. Am I doing what I love and what feeds my soul? Venus retrograde in Scorpio is like turning on that x-ray vision we think Scorpios were born with and lo and behold if what we find isn't to our liking, we may need to be Scorpionic and scrape away the dead parts, and let it go.
For people born between October 10 and November 21 any year, this pattern travels with them for a year, from birthday to birthday starting with the upcoming one, bringing up one area of life (for some more) that needs to be revamped starting with assessment, action to eliminate and then rebuilding something new and better in its place.
Seeing that this one has to do with relationships it probably isn't a good idea to get into a partnership of any kind during that time frame, nor is it typically a good one for ending a relationship either - it is after all more about repairing than destroying. Borrowing money might be tough and I personally would avoid it at these times. This is about what to keep and finding the reasons why, which absolutely need to satisfy your inner values. Ethical is a keyword here as well.
Venus Retrograde
Is like magnifying side on the barber's mirror - every flaw is noticeable
It is...
- Feelings beneath the surface
- Beyond reason
- Hidden motivation
- Under currents
- Controlled passion
- A leash on feelings
- Silent resentment
- Deep, profound feelings
- Mother didn't love me syndrome
- I am not worthy of love
- What I think, value and hold dear isn't that important
- Settling in relationships
- Loosing possessions
- Reluctance to enclose feelings
- Reserving judgement or opinion
During the phase there is a need to
- Re-evaluate the values of others against your own
- Re-think commitment
- Re-assess joint assets, mortgages, loans, debt, birth, loss
When we have the Venus Direct Station as Sun enter Sagittarius November 21, it is a good time to take action, launch your brain child, send off that manuscript, say I do to life.
That is not all there is to look at for the year, there are five eclipses this year a lunar and solar one in Sagittarius. These need to be assessed against the back drop of the lunar nodes who are already doing prep work for any potential event or change. In addition Pluto has been calling Sagittarius home for a while now - eons it seems - it has only been seven years. I recall when the shift took place, I actually cried when Pluto left my sign, Scorpio. You really get used to its presence. Pluto is half way through the sign so we have another 7 years. Pluto transforms but no pain no gain. I look at eclipses as the little fuses that ignite the actual physical manifestation of change. Let's say Pluto has been nudging you to change careers and pursue you dreams, but you have resisted, an eclipse comes along and bang the company you worked for is being restructured and you are out on your ear. Let's assume that you are in a relationship that virtually died years ago and there is nothing to salvage and boom along comes an eclipse.
From my experience as an astrologer, the triggers on the chart have to be very close and one only does very little - it typically takes the golden three. Just because you are a Sagittarius does not mean that something will happen, astrology is more complicated than that. Why - because people are complicated and their lives weave an intricate web indeed.
The Solar eclipse in Gemini seems to the most potent eclipse of 2002. Globally this could trigger all kinds of activity in the Gemini related areas of communication, travel and education. But once again on the Gemini end we need to remember that Saturn has been calling this a home for a while now, and we are already experiencing what we are denied on this front. In November we shift into the Taurus/Scorpio axis in preparation for the nodes getting in there to pave the way. The Venus cycle that starts in October might give some relevant cues as to what is to come.
If you were to impose the little graph of astrological triggers on your chart, you could readily look at what areas of life are under heightened activity and then make educated speculations as to what those might trigger in your life.
I haven't written "predictions" for signs in three years, but here is a brief preview of the year through this lense. If you know what the challenges or obstacles are and approx. when, it might be easier to tackle them. From the Sun alone it is difficult to be specific or even address all of the issues the astrological symbolism represents, but then again you might find some of the verbage relevant to your situation. Wishing you a great 2002, remember its the 2nd year of the new century and the brandspanking new millenium, these are typically times of change and unrest.
I have specifically avoided the bin Laden and Al-quaida issue, the blitz is over, the battle won but we still have not resolved the issue, I expect mid-July to bring some sort of resolution in this very upsetting turmoil. Remember that the religious issues and the resultant wars and conflicts are represented by very slow moving planets, which translates to the fact, the the matters here on earth won't be resolved in a hurry either.
Aries: Early in the year - February - you may find yourself a little dissatisfied with the income you make from your career, and friendships might be a challenge. In late spring early summer you might make different choices that somehow involve education, learning or retraining. It would be a good time to do writing be it words or music. Prior to June check that your vehicle especially the brakes are working, this is not the year to neglect basic maintenance on the car. On a romantic or creative front the second part of the year could be quite rewarding. If you have children you might find that their lives are eating up your time. Having fun and enjoying life might be a high priority making you desire travel and/or adventures. In the fall when Mercury retrogrades in Libra relationships with others in general might be trying, avoid signing contracts the latter part of the year. You might have an urge to overspend this year, by the latter part of the year you will be paying the piper - budgeting your resources before it gets out of control might be a good idea. Career changes are highlighted this year, unless you are planning this - consider where you are and where you want to go, and prepare for an interesting ride.
Taurus: Career, money, partner and home form the back drop for the year. Your reserves may have been taxed in the past year. Home is likely to have become more befitting your needs, grander somehow or that is about to start. There may be some dissatisfaction with possessions, and personal funds - perhaps simply in terms that you have built up long term assets and now feel cash poor. Your work/career situation may be a little unpredictable this year - mainly outside your personal experience, i.e. a lot of changes with co-workers. It isn't the same I guess is the theme. It mightn't be a bad idea to re-decorate the areas where you do your work, the mood of the place is important. Early in the year you might feel like revisiting your long-range goals, are you still headed where you thought five short years ago or has your progress stagnated somehow. Are the goals you set for yourself realistic? The Venus phase for you could happen with you as the observer not the "experiencer". If you are married your spouse could have some health problems or issues with law, work or partners, which require you to be extremely supportive. Read the Venus section above, so you don't go throwing the baby out with the bathwater in relationship matters.
Gemini: I'd like to know if any Geminis have the time to read this? Saturn moved into your sign what eight short months ago and took all the fun out, life has become work, obligations and now has limitations. On the flip side you are probably dealing with relationships that are changing or for some non-existent. This might also have brought on some health issues at the very least your stamina might be somewhat depleted. At the same time there is an impetus to decide direction your life should take from here on out. This comes into full fledged scrutiny mid-July when Saturn and the North Node of the Moon have their gathering - doubly so if you were born in the middle of the sign - around June 3-6. The second part of the year will bring more comings and goings into your life. More activity, more things to do and a little bit of fun. Siblings, neighbours or a few long lost relatives might become a bigger part of your daily life. Co-workers or the setting in which you work might require your attention in Oct-Nov, hey how'd you like to counsel co-habitants of this planet? You might just be the friend indeed for a friend in need. Do take some time out of working and get some exercise and fresh air, not the year to veg when tired.
Cancer:: Jupiter stays in your sign until August 2. This is claimed to be good, it has its moments. It typically keeps you very optimistic, and may have been the culprit for those few extra pounds. You may have not even have noticed "Santa Claus" with all the inner thoughts, fears, changes and growth you have been experiencing. Health likewise might be fluctuating from feeling great to undiagnosed pain. Any activity that requires solitude and work behind the scenes is favoured throughout 2002. If you are an artist, student, writer, researcher and the like, this time is great - you have the focus to learn and to create. If you are in sales or any other work requiring contact with public, you might find this a challenge, as you don't like the limelight at the moment. Money situation improves as of August, which can also translate into more money coming in and more money going out, but hey you get to handle more cash. Subtle changes at home or with family, more time to reassess your true needs and plan budgets. Romance wise - October - November - is not good for starting new relationships maybe because they are likely to be started with all the wrong reasons, don't plan a wedding for that time frame either; before or after those 42 days is fine. Neither is it a good time to conceive.
Leo:Your birthday present will be Jupiter that planet of luck entering your sign! It brings with it great expectations, a few extra pounds (not always), makes you optimistic and typically brings a couple of lucky breaks. From mid 2001 to Aug 2002 it has acted like an guardian angel taking the edge off events, call it a proverbial silver lining. Since April 2001 and until next year, the limitations have been in your pursuits for long-term goals and aspirations, the money you earn might not be quite what you are worth, and friendships or the time to spend with friends might be limited. Now's the time to plan not put into action yet, mid-July will bring clearly perceptions. Communication, relationships and friends and acquaintances and of course the car (put some money aside for additional repair work for the car) come under periodic focus this year - the theme continues from last year. Remember that other than with the car your thoughts, words and ideas are really the things that you can change. People around you appear to change when you adjust your perceptions and expectations. It can be frustrating to cope with grown children living with you, until you put this into proper perspective for yourself. If you are that grown child maybe its time to look at that parent as a person not a provider.
Virgo: Home and career situation continues focal and perhaps even stressful as the theme in motion continues throughout the year. However, since the latter part of 2001 and throughout 2002, there is proverbial protection - your worst fears fail to materialize. Change is seldom welcomed but when all is said and done it was for the better. January, June and October are the months to re-assess what it is you want for yourself, once the decisions and choices are clear it is easier to proceed in the direction of your choice; and perhaps avoid choices being made for you. Latter part of the year brings neighbours, siblings and other sundry relationships under the proverbial magnifying glass. It is about what is of value to you, so some relationships may fade into the background; or you might even seriously contemplate relocating to ensure a better career path or a safer, more nurturing living environment. The eclipses may bring these two issues into focus - where you live and how you earn your living, and children's lives or romance and what your aspirations are and who you friends are. Middle of summer can be the timer signifying things (i.e. life) is starting to move along and you can see light at the end of the tunnel (so to speak).
Libra:What do you really want, what are your dreams and goals vs. What is easy to fall back on? It's as if the world is toying with you, you're the one that needs to be committed to what you want to accomplish. Life is full of options and if you continue to weigh the balances too long you may miss out on an opportunity of a life time. LIVE life to the fullest, cease the opportunities. January, June and October are the months to reconnect with what truly inspires you, and rethink how you can fullfill those dreams. Luck is when opportunity meets preparation - we all make our luck (Jupiter is just the planet that signifies that astrologically speaking). That planet of luck is in your career/avocation house through August and then it moves to the house that signifies the rewards from career type activity. By October and throughout the latter part of the year your priorities, your values and your own assessment of yourself is what comes under examination, not by the world but by you. At that point do you want to focus on regrets or on the positive choices you have made for yourself? Make this your year! June might spell a move or change of jobs or maybe both.
Scorpio
Money, assets, resources and health have become the backdrop of your life. How your resouces are allocated may have shifted, and more of your assets may have become fixed rather than liquid. That's hard for a Scorpio. It is a thrifty yet generous sign, who likes to know that there is money tucked away out of sight of prying eyes. Invest wisely this year, don't go after the quick fix schemes, no matter how tempting. January, June, and October are the time re-evaluate resources and truly scrutinize what is important to you and yours. Life's too short to wait to enjoy life and things life offers - cease the day. Any creative work that is somehow launched is favoured - share your creative efforts with the "world". The latter part of the year when Venus travels retrograde through your sign might be somewhat tough as it can get pretty personal, think of it as inevitable growth, you might find yourself directing your efforts in an unplanned direction. Pay attention to your continued well-being, and if you are feeling under the weather at that time (year end) do visit your physician or health-care provider. Studies launched at the end of the Venus cycle (i.e. that direct station on Nov. 21) bear fruit down the road, no instant gratification with this one.
Sagittarius: The theme where you are getting to really know yourself, changing your approach to life and your attitude in general vs. Spouse, partner and people in your life general and whether you want to keep them in your life continues. Travel arrangements, siblings and other sundry relatives, work and your mundane existance and career. Mid-January might start a process where you consider employment or changes in employment this year. January, June and October mark the peak periods of revisiting what it is you want to accomplish and why - take action outside these months for better more long term results. Mid-October through November marks a time of inner quests, and you might find yourself unusually asocial while the world and the people in it still keep placing demands on you. Try to strike a balance because you will need your time out. At that time also do not ignore a pain or general not feeling well, have it checked out. Jupiter in your travel and higher learning area as of August will bring new inspiration to travel, to have fun maybe take up a new study or pursuit, and it will give you a more optimistic, positive approach. Until August you might be contemplating the deeper side of life, and perhaps the interest to learn metaphysical subjects might be sparked, and this interest would likely deepen when the soul searching period at the end of the year starts.
Capricorn
January might bring a shock about money but more than that it is a great time to reassess your priorities and values, and recall what is truly important to you in the first place. Work and career might also come under scrutiny, better ways of doing things or simply the desire for advancement, progress might have you working even harder than usual to achieve your goals. Until August relationships, lots of them (not all intimate) are under a spotlight. New(ish) relationship need to shift to a more committed level come August. Money, finances, mortgages and fixed assets are also a high priority latter part of the year. Mid-October through November is a time when friendships and love given become important issues as do rewards from career type activity. What you are worth and what you deserve are the base issues behind this time frame. Don't sell yourself short and don't go putting your significant other on an unrealistic pedestal, because your average human being will come tumbling down, we are all flawed. You have already spent seven years examining your inner self, and since last year you have had people in your life relfect your inner growth back to you - so are you meeting nice people these days? When we change our world changes, as the only person you change is you! Your attitude, and how you choose to feel - do pick happy as your favourite emotion, and people around you will be happy.
Aquarius: Oh, inspiration! January might be a good time to realize that you create your own inspiration. Be accommodating in your one on one relationships as you become a little self-involved. In June it is romance, creativity and kids that need to be examined - do it with heart and mind, not just mind. Not everything in life is logic. Work demands might ease up by the time August rolls around, until then it might be quite time consuming and have new challenges (this started back in July 2001). New partnership opportunities might present themselves after August, the latter part of the year might not be that great for committing to one. Take your time! By the end of October and throughout November you might find yourself reconsidering what your career ought to be, and implement changes in 2003. This is the year to make sweeping changes but only after careful consideration; don't go throwing out the baby with the bathwater. You might also find yourself wanting more private time with family or engaging in creative endevours. The Mercury periods in air, your element the intellect, might have you feeling unusually indecisive. Follow your heart and make choices that feed all of you not just the logical path, take new kind of risks. Pisces: The theme of learning responsibility continues, the invisible force is pushing you toward change while building a solid foundation for your life. You are somehow more housebound and living a more private existance. January might feel like a let down after the festive season, don't spend too much time dwelling on what could have been try to focus on what opportunities are out there just for the ceasing. There might be a strong urge to focus on the limitations; if you do they are yours. This can be a challenging year for the young Pisces individuals. From July 2001 - July 2002 Jupiter is in your house of romance, gambling, children and creativity promising the world and maybe not delivering, in August 2002 he moves into the house of work, chores and routines... This promises to be a busy year with less time to focus on the don't haves; you need to focus on the mundane this year and your romantic, dreamy and sympathetic nature may find this a little too much. Notice the good things it does bring, the security that you hanker for is built into this year long transit. Relationships can be a little challenging in October-November when Venus encourages you to look at that committed relationship, work on it - all good relationships take work. It might also push you to look at your finances in a realistic light, and make some positive changes. This is a year of maturation regardless of your age, focus more on yourself and less on those you perceive to be in need. Remember you are the only person you can change.
