The strong money making theme continues. Mars has been in your solar house of money since late July 2005. Jupiter of excesses moved into the house of expenses at the end of October 2005 and to add to this squeeze Saturn has settled into your fifth house of speculation for a two-year stint. Neptune the 'dissolver' is in the fourth 'money' house; income for career and rewards for your efforts out there in the big world. So that silly axiom, it was the best of times and it was the worst of times play on and off throughout 2006.
The theme, that begun late in 2005 continues throughout this year demanding steady progress and honest effort. 2006 is one of those gold-rush years, when millionaires are made. Not saying that you'll become one, rather that the opportunities to increase your bottom line are exceptionally strong this year.
North Node will spend the first half of the year in your Sun sign, so whatever you accomplish this year is through your own efforts. There is help and support available provided you are willing to accommodate others. Relationships are in heightened focus until the axis shifts in June. During the second half of the year, working in isolation and/or spending much of your time alone becomes a pronounced theme. During the latter part of the year and throughout 2007 it is important that you pay attention to your physical well-being. Ultimately we are each responsible for looking after our bodies, proper nutrition, rest and exercise are all vital to the maintenance of our bodies.
Venus moved into the top of your chart in November 2005 and will stay there until April. This is the area of your solar chart, which is associated with career, avocation and reputation as well as your dealings with authority figures, governments and other similar organizations. The gist of this influence is to make you evaluate whether you are happy with the direction your career has taken. Do you love what you are doing and are you rewarded accordingly? This is potentially a great time to build a sound reputation—during these months whatever you do is noticed for better or for worse.
This year begins with Venus retrograde in Capricorn. It has been so since Christmas Day and continues until February 3. As I mentioned in last year's column this repeats from 1997-98 and 1989-90. Each of the five Venus cycles is akin to the hundred-year sleep in fairy tales. When the cycle connects with our charts, we have profound revelations and changes in our lives. During these Venus times, we have weeks on end to ponder whether we are happy and content with an area of our lives.
Capricorn is a sign of tradition and likes it when things are done in a manner society expects. If you ask for something you need to finish off with please; when you get something you say thank you and if you made a 'blunder' you immediately say excuse me. A little simplified, but just to illustrate the point. Capricorn can be the scorekeeper of the Zodiac, merits and demerits each get a column. In terms of the pearly gates, we are told that Saint Peter will be on hand to check over our accomplishments and shortcomings. More about Venus in the annual write-up.
The Mercury cycles are in water and repeat from, 2000-01. We had the ideations of Air, the pragmatic work of Earth, the inspiration of Fire and now with Water, we get to look at how it makes us feel. No matter how great an idea, unless we feel emotionally comfortable with it, we cannot act on it. Our world functions on 'facts and figures', logic and practical action. Now we are asked to explore a side of our innate nature that does not seem to fit well into the equation—the function of Mercury to do deductive reasoning. Are you comfortable with how life is flowing in these areas? What is it we need to eliminate from our thinking, and daily routines?
Mercury cycles occupy the houses of endings in your chart—refer to annual Mercury article for dates. From early February through April Mercury spends time in your solar twelfth house. This house has many names and associations. One of the first is that it is the house of self-undoing. When planets occupy this space, we are looking at periods of isolation (sometimes self-imposed). We get to deal with our fears, doubts and insecurities. Our dreams are particularly vivid during these times. Dreams are messages from our unconscious mind that are intended to help us understand and cope with life better. During this time, our vitality can be low, so pay particular attention to diet and ensure adequate sleep—our bodies need both.
In July and August, Mercury visits your solar house of family. During this time, it's important to listen to others with care and empathy. We cannot fix everything when it comes to people; rather it's a great time to bond at a deeper level. Take particular care with maintenance around the house, particularly any equipment that is connected to water—think hot water heater, washing machine, etc.
In the course October-November, Mercury takes a tour of your solar house associated with investments, taxation, loans, financial commitments and debts. During this time, it's prudent to review that you have attended to all these matters. Similarly, relationships, the committed ones, come to the forefront. It is important that both partners are equally responsible for shared assets and resources. Open and honest communication is vital during these times. During this time, there is much astrological activity in your house of assets, shared resources suggesting the high priority the issues listed in this paragraph have. New Moon is associated with beginnings, trying out something new. However, life unfolds based on past actions. It might be time to take those 'projects' or commitments made at the earlier dates to a new level. It is also the degree of the Full Venus in March 2005 and the New Venus in 2001. In order to look ahead we need to reflect on the past. This eclipse also repeats from the same date in 1987. New Moons are about acting instinctively not based on reflection rather on action. As this one is on the North Node, it propels toward a new kind of future.
