The significant shifts in planetary energy began during the past four months, and we have many more to come. 2007 was a challenging year for many of us, when long cycles reach the final degrees in a sign; we feel a sense of urgency to complete EVERYTHING on our list. This naturally isn't doable, no matter how much we would like to conclude everything. In the last six-seven weeks of 2007, most of us became too busy to attend to everything, and that, which entered our lives since September, was emotional in nature and now we needed to learn practical ways of handling issues. In astrology, there are short cycles and extremely long ones—many are changing now, and the more changes we have in the stars the more changes we will have in our lives. Is it a curse or a blessing, when we are wished: "may you live in interesting times"?
Your ruling planet Mars, is retrograde in Gemini as the New Year begins. It is regressing (going back in time…) in the area of your chart associated with family, home and our personal view of ourselves. When planets move against the norm, the issues they represent are 'in our face'. This means we can no longer sweep those issues under the rug, no ignoring the issue and no hiding from ourselves. Since September 2007, we have all felt 'stuck' somehow. Our experiences are all unique and different. Some of the potential events and issues, including dealing with family members and housing related issues more. Perhaps we have needed to rely on assistance more than we are accustomed. Organizing a trip, procuring insurance, dealing with an insurance claim or the loss of a family member are some of the issues that figure prominently now. Some of us are luckier, and we have only had to deal with the furnace seizing up on us, the hot water heater that no longer works, the washer and dryer, the fridge—anything that has a motor and deals with water.
As the year begins, a new element enters the equation: logic, paper work, seeking professional advice, speaking to a counselor, attorney, adjuster, etc. The first two weeks of the year are intense, it is easier to get into arguments as we 'fight' for what is just and fair. On December 18 when Jupiter moved into Capricorn (Mercury and Sun followed by the 21 st ) we all got a glimpse of what direction we need to take. Granted most of us became aware that it will take time, patience and working toward our goals patiently and methodically.
Career matters, status, reputation and being appreciated for the things you do are important factors this coming year. Pluto of change/transformation enters your career house for a preview January 25-June 13, and then returns for a 14-year stay in November 2008. During these years your productive efforts in the world will change, you may be changing jobs (maybe more than once or twice) or your workplace and status in the world will change around you. You are also likely to become more obsessed about real achievement.
This year the Mercury cycle is in the element of air, as in 2001-02. For you, these cycles influence relating at a variety of levels. The emotional theme of 2006-07 gives way to handling matters more rationally. This approach 'feels' more comfortable to you. It is also a year of new ideas and we can have a delightful time playing out those 'what if' and 'why not' scenarios. January 7-March 14 is a period during which you need to learn to rationalize your goals and ideals differently. You may conclude that you are not being paid what you know you are worth. During this time dealings with colleagues, friends and adopted children (children from a previous relationship) can become more important; there tend to be issues that require a different approach. Remember that truth is a highly subjective experience. During the retrograde period (dates listed below) you may need to deal with delays with communication, having to do extra follow through and naturally, miscommunications are a significant theme for you. Think twice, before making important statements.
You daily routines are in for changes May 2-July 10, 2008. In early may, ensure that your vehicle and any electronic tools get proper maintenance. Check the spare in the trunk. Give the computer a thorough work through etc. Pay attention in traffic (no speeding); there will be tougher enforcement of traffic laws in the coming year. The people associated with this period are siblings, neighbours, cousins and the people in your daily life. Double-check all written missives; during the retrograde period (dates listed below) avoid signing contracts that were not pre-planned. Keep receipts and documents organized, as this can be the return season for you. Buying a car or any major item equipped with wiring might no be a good idea—at least consider purchasing extended warranty. During May avoid making promises you cannot keep, you might be feeling exceptionally over-confident; could be a great month for profitable sales pitches.
Partnerships are in for rejuvenation while Mercury is in Libra Aug 28 - Nov 4. Talk honestly and openly, clear the air and find a balance within your most important relationship. During this time more people may enter your life, the social aspects are strong for you this year, and particularly during this period. For the unattached Aries, this period could spell serious romance. Note that in September, we have incredible relationship alignments in the stars—many a confirmed bachelor/bachelorette will change their tune. During the Retrograde period, avoid signing contracts, entering into a partnership and watch your Ps and Qs.

This year, Jupiter and Pluto are at the top of your chart. This can spell spectacular success, but if you haven't been expending an honest effort, it could also spell spectacular 'downfalls. During this time, your place of business is likely to change. This naturally includes all of the people you deal with in a professional/official capacity. Out there in the world, the market place is going to change dramatically over these 14 years, and all change begins with individuals. This could also spell returning to the workforce, starting your own business or resuming responsibility for a family business. You may need to become more involved in the affairs of a family member, particularly parents.
Saturn is in your work/health area, restricting your free time, thus you haven't worked this hard for thirty years. Remember to balance work out with recreational activity and it is time to get your diet on track. Fast food is a no-no this year; a balanced, healthy, holistic diet is what you need. During the next couple of years, you are likely to become more health conscious. However, this can also signal health issues, more visits with the dentist/physician etc. By the way, this influence is excellent for losing any extra weight.
It is a year of relating for you, re-learning how to communicate is a big theme; such as learning to speak to your parents as an adult, or treating your child as a grown man/woman. 2008 finds your working extra hard, paying attention to all kinds of details (not your favourite thing) and perhaps dealing with health/body-image issues. 2008 begins a 14-year period, during which your professional/public life will undergo many changes. You might have a new boss every year or find yourself working under stressful circumstances. Those new opportunities now require extra work and realistic long-term goals.
