Mars moves into Gemini for six weeks June 20, 2011 and stays in the sign until August 3. I found an old column from 2003 about Gemini and thought I'd share that with you. You will find the short horoscopes for the signs below. Those of you, who know your charts, look at the house involved—that is where the sign of Gemini happens to be. You have already had about four weeks of this energy as the Sun has been in Gemini—that too changes with the Summer solstice which takes place tomorrow morning (June 21 at 10:16 PDT).
"Geminis are flirtatious social butterflies, who quickly flutter from gathering to gathering, relationship to relationship." I recall my Gemini mother reading her horoscope when I was a child. She always vehemently disagreed with these types of comments about her Sun sign. She like so many Geminis could not agree with the trivializing verbiage for this curious and inquisitive air sign. Needless to say I have continued to associate Gemini with butterflies.
Geminis are like butterflies fluttering from flower to flower, always looking for new tastes and new experiences; breezy and blithe not allowing life to stagnate as that fosters boredom. My mother was a twin and her sister exhibited these characteristics in a more typical fashion, and my mother readily acknowledged the fact. However, my mother worked in sales all her life, and alwaysknew what was happeni ng with everyone in the neighbourhood. She also had a friend who was deaf and dumb, and although my mother never learned sign language she quickly discovered all about her friend through the sign language the two of them created. The incredible need to communicate is built into Gemini. Children with Gemini Moons tend to learn to talk early, as able to express their thoughts is an innate need. So yes, my mother fit that Gemini description, she was social, inquisitive and ever curious, but I guess she associated the verbiage with those one on one relationships. She was happily married all her life.

Butterflies only visit gardens with scented, colourful flowers. Butterflies live such a short time, one to two weeks (migratory Monarchs can live up to six months) and are so pretty that we fail to note the valuable ecological work they do. They are very efficient pollinators collecting nectar and carrying seeds of growth from flower to flower. Geminis collect information and relay it to others uncensored. Gemini is the first air sign of the zodiac and like the two other air signs it is intellectual and cerebral. "Just living is not enough," said the butterfly, "One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower." — Hans Christian Anderson
Gemini is associated with the third house of the zodiac, the one that represents communication, acquiring knowledge, travel, our siblings, neighbours and cousins, and our daily environment. In the old style flat chart with Scorpio rising, Gemini falls into the 8th house. We associate the concept of transformation with the 8th house, and the concept of metamorphosis with butterflies, and Psyche. The cocoon gives birth to a butterfly. Astrologically speaking this area of the chart represents some of the most profound changes we undergo in the course of our lives. "Just like the butterfly, I too will awaken in my own time." — Deborah Chaskin.
The 8th house represents concepts ranging from death and rebirth to hidden knowledge. When this house is emphasized in the natal chart, the need to understand the mysteries of life becomes important. Some astrologers consider this the house of the soul, due to its strong connection with occult (hidden) knowledge and psychology; what makes human beings tick. In Roman mythology, Psyche (meaning soul and butterfly) represented the human spirit and was portrayed as a beautiful girl with butterfly wings. According to modern dictionaries Psyche is that which is responsible for one's thoughts and feelings, the seat of the faculty of reason. Reason and logic are concepts we equate with Mercury. A broader definition is that Psyche is the human soul, mind and spirit.
While the Sun is integrally involved in understanding the soul and its purpose, the 8th house with its Mercurial connection defines the place in our charts where we explore occult knowledge. Without information it is harder to grasp the meaning of our lives, and Mercury is representative of how we gather these tidbits in the course of our lives. Mercury on its own excels at communicating while the 8th house by its nature requires us to contemplate, research and own these concepts. We perceive life through all of our senses. Hearing is the sense associated with Mercury and in a broad sense this swiftly moving planet represents our perceptions. A butterfly can perceive ultraviolet wavelengths of light, and a finely tuned Mercury with his winged feet can tune into equally high octaves. Our mind is capable of incredible feats.
I mentioned the connection between butterfly and Gemini to my co-worker, who is a Gemini Sun. She burst out laughing and told me about her butterfly collection. When I in turn asked how long does a butterfly actually live; she quickly turned on her internet and went on a quest to find the information for me. Always curious to learn more is such a strong Gemini trait.
Gemini is perhaps only shallow on the surface like that beautiful butterfly distracting us from its innate nature of childlike curiosity. Mercury is the planet that represents youth, and most Geminis appear to never age or lose their youthful ways. The 8th house is the house of death, two such contrasting concepts. The duality of life is built into every concept in astrology, black would not be so black if we had not been introduced to white.
The butterfly influence is continues in your third house, it is not only about communication now. You have to act on those ideas—walk the talk—put thoughts into action. Gather information, learn something new and mend bridges between siblings and cousins, or neighbours. Keeping the learning alive allows you to stay younger in spirit.

This report by Stephanie Clement integrates what Saturn promises in your life; and how and when it delivers on that promise.
Excerpt about the effect of Saturn return from this insightful report:
"The time of the Saturn return is good for clearing out the dead wood of a stagnant career, old relationships, and other things that are no longer useful to you. This is also a time of beginning. After any repairs to your life that seem essential, you can take off in a new direction. If you like where you find yourself, you enter into life's activities with renewed vigor. Finally, you put down deep roots that support you through the next 28 to 30 years successfully.
During this transitional period you learn a lot about yourself, about the people close to you, and about your long-term goals and desires. You test out the methods you have learned in the past and refine them as you go along. You may find (or recall) yourself looking into yourself . What have you personally accomplished? What have you had to endure, through no fault of your own, but because of circumstances? Where are you in terms of goals you may have set for yourself long ago? Are they even important now? "
