Gemini Horoscope 2006

Year Ahead

Gemini May 20-June 21

Mars in Taurus 12 th house and Fixed cross 3, 6, 9, 12

Mars has spent over four months in your 12 th house; this began in July 2005 and continues until February 17. Mars is associated with our actions, energy, anger, motivation and drive. October through early December Mars was moving backwards, which made this energy feel even more personal. Your energy levels have likely fluctuated from fatigue to extreme energy. This house has many names and associations. One of the first is that it is the house of self-undoing. When planets occupy this space, we are looking at periods of isolation (sometimes self-imposed). We get to deal with our fears, doubts and insecurities. Our dreams are particularly vivid during these times. Dreams are messages from our unconscious mind that are intended to help us understand and cope with life better. During this time, our vitality can be low, so pay particular attention to diet and ensure adequate sleep-our bodies need both. (More about this in last year's column)

Philosophical axioms such as "If thou findest it not within, thou will never find it without" further define these types of Astro-events. We are here to discover, who we always were, to look within to find out what is so right about us. This typically involves taking time out to contemplate our spiritual nature.

February 17 Mars moves into your Sun sign, helping to bring those energy levels up. During the six weeks that follow is your time to 'get cracking' by implementing some of the thoughts you have had into action. Onward and upward.

Jupiter of excesses bearing the moniker of MORE moved into the house of work, health and routines at the end of October 2005. There has been more to do and perhaps a little less vim and vigour to apply to any tasks at hand. The Vim and Vigor returns in its full glory in February. Saturn has settled into your third house of communication emphasizing the daily 'grind'. These can be the years when we learn to economize with the vehicle, repair it often, or finally decide to 'bite the bullet' and get a new one with financing. Neptune has been lollygagging through your 9 th house of convictions, opinions and philosophical views. Periodically another energy comes along to give you new pause to ponder what is it you believe in the now. Throughout 2006, the four planetary energies ebb and flow into and out of your life, eventually manifesting in a changed set of circumstances. Collectively the four houses involved are those linked to learning and wisdom. Developing and acquiring new knowledge and skills, learning to apply these and share your knowledge. These can be times when we change jobs more frequently, maybe have more than one. We could travel (either literally or figuratively) from A to B so often that we become bored, and continuously dream of getting as far away from it all as possible. What is the philosophers say: we only regret things we did not try. Some more food for thought.

North Node in 11-5 shifts to 10-4

North Node will spend the first half of the year in the 11 th and 5 th house axis in your solar chart. This axis is linked to love received and given, to children and long-term aspirations. With Pluto already in your 8 th solar house since the mid-90's there is a strong need to make plans for the future, for retirement, investments and to determine where you'd prefer to spend your twilight years. This may seem odd if you are young more natural if you are older. This is a natural relationship pairing, affecting areas of your life naturally linked to matters of the heart, i.e.; people we choose to have in our lives. Thus, some of your most intimate relationships with lovers, children and close friends are likely to change.

During the second half of the year, the Nodes shift into the axis of career vs. home. On one level, you now have a rather clear view about what you do not want with a fresh perspective on what your value is, so you could rather readily parlay this into new status and reputation out there in the world or with your career. This axis is always a balancing act. You may be needed at home more than before and may need to 'neglect' that a little while you work toward new goals. Family members can be supportive during this time, but you need to make a concerted effort to spend quality time with them, as quantity is typically not an option during these times.

New Venus in the 8th house

This year begins with Venus retrograde in Capricorn. It has been so since Christmas Day and continues until February 3. As I mentioned in last year's column this repeats from 1997-98 and 1989-90. Each of the five Venus cycles is akin to the hundred-year sleep in fairy tales. When the cycle connects with our charts, we have profound revelations and changes in our lives.

During these Venus times, we have weeks on end to ponder whether we are happy and content with an area of our lives. For Capricorn the question is most personal; are you happy with who you have become, what you do and how you interact with the world.

Capricorn is a sign of tradition and likes it when things are done in a manner society expects. If you ask for something you need to finish off with please; when you get something you say thank you and if you made a 'blunder' you immediately say excuse me-a little simplified, but just to illustrate the point. Capricorn can be the scorekeeper of the Zodiac, merits and demerits each get a column. In terms of the pearly gates, we are told that Saint Peter will be on hand to check over our accomplishments and shortcomings.

Venus moved into the eighth house of your solar chart in November 2005 and will stay there until April. This house is associated with death, sex, taxes, commitment and shared resources. While contemplation of our mortality can be a theme, on a lighter note our intimate relationships come under scrutiny. Venus always asks: are you happy, do you love what you have and if not what are you willing to do to rectify the situation. It is the house of commitment, so walking away is typically not an option.

This year those inevitable issues, taxes, financial dealings and insurance policies can take on extra significance-not the year to forget to file income taxes or claim deductions you cannot verify. Spend a bit of time to review that all of these matters are under control. More about Venus in the annual write-up.

Mercury Rx in the earth or substance houses

The Mercury cycles are in water and repeat from, 2000-01. We had the ideations of Air, the pragmatic work of Earth, the inspiration of Fire and now with Water, we get to look at how it makes us feel. No matter how great an idea, unless we feel emotionally comfortable with it, we cannot act on it. Our world functions on 'facts and figures', logic and practical action. Now we are asked to explore a side of our innate nature that does not seem to fit well into the equation-the function of Mercury to do deductive reasoning. Are you comfortable with how life is flowing in these areas? What is it we need to eliminate from our thinking, and daily routines?

The Mercury cycles take place in the houses linked to substance in your solar chart. We are talking money, your capacity to support and sustain yourself and those who depend on you. It's 'roll up your sleeves', and do the work kind of year. In March, the emphasis is on the career front-your status and reputation is under scrutiny. The timeline actually begins February 8 and concludes April 12 (repeats in 2007). During this time dealings with the boss and other authority type figures and institutions can prove challenging. You may need to justify your actions and choices, while redoing any hastily performed projects and tasks. During this time, you might make new choices about how you eke out a living.

In July-August Mercury takes a tour of your money house, which also encompasses concepts of possessions, what you value and a priceless commodity called time. During July, pay attention to where you store or leave those easy to lose items such as the wallet, keys, cell phones, etc. Read those financial statements with care, even automated banking isn't foolproof. This might be the month to avoid making any major purchases-you might end of with a 'lemon'. If it has value, keep it safe. Now might also be a good time to trim things off your agenda; doing too many things can wreak havoc with productivity as well as your own sense of well-being.

In the course October-November, Mercury visits your solar house associated with work, daily routines and people in your work life. This can be a time of repeat performances, redoing tasks, fixing things and polishing off projects. Your vitality may not be as high now, so pay particular attention to diet and healthy living. The affairs of someone you work with may become more of your business-remember to keep all communications clear. Words are difficult to retract.
