The significant shifts in planetary energy began during the past four months, and we have many more to come. 2007 was a challenging year for many of us. When long cycles reach the final degrees in a sign, we feel a sense of urgency to complete EVERYTHING on our list. This naturally isn't doable, no matter how much we would like to conclude everything. In the last six-seven weeks of 2007, most of us became too busy to attend to everything, and that, which entered our lives since September, was emotional in nature and now we needed to learn practical ways of handling issues. In astrology, there are short cycles and extremely long ones—many are changing now, and the more changes we have in the stars the more changes we will have in our lives. Is it a curse or a blessing, when we are wished: "may you live in interesting times"?
Since September 2007, we have all felt 'stuck' somehow. Our experiences are all unique and different. Some of the potential events and issues, including dealing with family members and housing related issues more. Perhaps we have needed to rely on assistance more than we are accustomed. Organizing a trip, procuring insurance, dealing with an insurance claim or the loss of a family member are some of the issues that figure prominently now. Some of us are luckier, and we have only had to deal with the furnace seizing up on us, the hot water heater that no longer works, the washer and dryer, the fridge—anything that has a motor and deals with water.
Mars is retrograde in Gemini as the New Year begins. It is regressing (going back in time…) in the area of your chart associated with friends, colleagues, desires and aspirations. When planets move against the norm, the issues they represent are 'in our face'. This means we can no longer sweep those issues under the rug, no ignoring the issue and no hiding from ourselves. What is it you truly want out of life? In classical astrology, this area of the chart (11 th house) was called the house of gain and of the good spirit—one of the truly lucky areas. Our lives change, when we make new choices for ourselves rather than let the fates rule over our lot in life. This is a great time to connect with people from the past, revisit your heart's desire. The timing cycle is in your sign over the next 19 months, which often means that we get the urge to 'do it now or never'. We tend only to regret the things we didn't try in life.
As the year begins, a new element enters the equation: logic, paper work, seeking professional advice, speaking to a counselor, attorney, adjuster, etc. The first two weeks of the year are intense, it is easier to get into arguments as we 'fight' for what is just and fair. On December 18 when Jupiter moved into Capricorn (Mercury and Sun followed by the 21 st ) we all got a glimpse of what direction we need to take. Granted most of us became aware that it will take time, patience and working toward our goals patiently and methodically.
Money and work matters are important to you this year. Pluto of change and transformation enters the area of your chart associated with work for a preview January 25-June 13, and then returns for a 14-year stay in November 2008. You know what needs to change, but not quite what to do about it. There is a renewed optimism about what is possible. Periodically the changes may feel daunting, but note that we are talking about a rather long cycle. Your routines are going to change—those things we do on a daily basis, such as go to the office/jobsite. It may be you choosing change or things around you may change rather dramatically at times. This is an excellent time to rid yourself of any vices, you have picked on the road of life. You could become rather obsessed with your physical body, diet, and lifestyle.
During 2008-10, your attention shifts to conserving your resources and money—'waste not want not'. You may become much more frugal with money (try not to become miserly with your resources). You could also be forced to cut back and make do with less. Your priorities in life are in for a shift.
This year the Mercury cycle is in the element of air, as in 2001-02. For you, these cycles influence relating at a variety of levels. The emotional theme of 2006-07 gives way to handling matters more rationally. This approach 'feels' more comfortable to you. It is also a year of new ideas and we can have a delightful time playing out those 'what if' and 'why not' scenarios.
Partnerships are in for rejuvenation while Mercury is in Aquarius (Jan 7 - March 14). Talk honestly and openly, clear the air and find a balance within your most important relationship. During this time more people may enter your life, the social aspects are strong for you this year, and particularly during this period. Note that in September, we have incredible relationship alignments in the stars—many a confirmed bachelor/bachelorette will change their tune. This could also spell babies/grandbabies. During the Retrograde period, avoid signing contracts, entering into a partnership and watch your Ps and Qs.
Around January's Full Moon (January 22), logic leaves the equation (repeats a week before Valentine's Day). Is there romance and magic in your relationship? Are you sharing your dreams and wishes? This is a potent configuration, and you have the opportunity to bring magic back into your relationship if you choose.
May 2 - July 10 is a period during which you need to learn to rationalize your goals and ideals differently. You may conclude that you are not being paid what you know you are worth. During this time dealings with colleagues, friends and adopted children (children from a previous relationship) can become more important; there tend to be issues that require a different approach. Remember that truth is a highly subjective experience. During the retrograde period (dates listed below) you may need to deal with delays with communication, having to do extra follow through and naturally, miscommunications are a significant theme for you. Think twice, before making important statements.
During May avoid making promises you cannot keep, you might be feeling exceptionally over-confident; could be a great month for profitable sales pitches.
In June, Venus becomes an Evening Star; she is brilliant in the sky shortly after sunset. This takes place in the same place as the rare occultation of June 2004. The stellar event is beautifully placed for Leo, which tends to mean that something very special takes place in your life—enjoy.
Aug 28 - Nov 4, your daily routines are in for changes. In early September, ensure that your vehicle and any electronic tools get proper maintenance. Check the spare in the trunk. Give the computer a thorough work through etc. Pay attention in traffic (no speeding); there will be tougher enforcement of traffic laws in the coming year. The people associated with this period are siblings, neighbours, cousins and the people in your daily life. Double-check all written missives; during the retrograde period (dates listed below) avoid signing contracts that were not pre-planned. Keep receipts and documents organized, as this can be the return season for you. Buying a car or any major item equipped with wiring might no be a good idea—at least consider purchasing extended warranty.

September is a spectacular month for relationships, the people for Leo are siblings, cousins, neighbours and people in our daily life (includes family). This could bring news of babies, grandchildren and maybe you'd like to renew your vows.
2008 is a year of relating and about finding new ways to communicate. Until March it is about your marriage/partnership, meeting new people and finding new solutions; May-early July friendships and making big plans; and Sept-Oct about siblings and people in your everyday life. Your work environment is likely to undergo restructuring—many changes afoot over the next 14 years. Learning to budget, conserve resources and live more frugally in the now, so that you can have your 'house', retirement funds, etc. is likely a big theme this year. In the first two months, talk about your goals and aspirations to gain clarity.
