Mars Review at Astrologically Speaking

A new show launched on TV around the Equinox in September 2009. It is called Flash Forward. The premise is that everyone on Earth lost consciousness simultaneously for 2 minutes and 17 seconds. Each person had visions about what was going on in their lives April 29, 2010 at 10 PM (Pacific Time), Astrology works in that fashion we can fast forward to a future time and look at what might be going on. However, in the show someone stated that the future is about potential and that choices we make along the way can alter that potential. Another character thought that the future was beginning to unfold and left me with a feeling that it was carved in stone. We each have our own perception and beliefs, while I am a fatalist I like to think that our choices do alter our path.

I am changing the format of my columns into reviews about upcoming 'attractions' and these will include a write-up or a horoscope for each sign. A big story for this Autumn, Winter and Spring is Mars—the timeline is almost eight months. When we review something we are assessing and evaluating the impact of a movie, event, and decision— and in this case the planetary energy. Before we pay to watch a movie or a play we tend to check out those reviews to see if we might enjoy it. With Mars there is a preview, rewind and repeat much like the natural cycle of a movie or a TV-series. The preview 'plays' from October 16 to December 20; the rewind in order to replay some of those themes 'plays' out from December 20-March 10 and the repeat from March 10 until June 6, 2010.

The next review is Saturn. On October 29, 2009 Saturn moves into Libra for a preview and then a two year stint beginning July 2010. If you would like to be on my email list and be the first to hear about new columns and blog posts, drop me an email.

Mars Story 2009-2010

Mars overview

Mars

Some years bring many unusual planetary events, others less so. We now have a year of Pluto in Capricorn under our belts and know that these are exceptional times. This energy stays with us until 2023 (and a little while as a rerun in 2024). Just in case we missed something the first go around. Everything repeats in some form in our lifetime and there are eras that played out with similar themes, our recollection of these is naturally limited. It would be difficult to live our lives if we recalled everything from this one. It would be almost impossible if we recalled previous lives in detail.

Mars typically spends approximately six weeks in a sign and has a retrograde period once every 26 months. However, the last time Mars spent this long in Leo was October 1962-June 1963. Those of us older are able to reflect on what was going on in the world during that time and also what was going on in our personal lives. The themes tend to play out again and again, but no astrological configuration repeats in exactly the same form ever; thus there are changes. We also learn something during each period and have new lessons the next time. (See technical data at the bottom of page)

Mars is now moving closer to us. When something is closer to us, we are less able to avoid the energy it represents. Mars is about our motivation and our actions. The fact that something takes place less often adds to the intensity of the energy. And because we no longer really recall how it felt, we can only remember events; we don't quite have the insights...

The slow-moving planets relate to bigger changes and events—Mars joined that group for the next eight months. I think of the planets as characters in our life's play; and the transiting planets, which is what each horoscope column talks about I aliken to houseguests. When we get a houseguest, who stays on longer than planned, we get to know that person far too well. We learn about their flaws in addition to the nice characteristics that initially attracted us to them. Astrologically speaking, consider Mars, an aggressive, probing guest, who will continuously tell you what you ought to be doing. This houseguest will stay in one area ensuring that you figure out a different way to handle the associated issues.

During October 2009-May 2010 Mars will move through the first 20 degrees of Leo three times. First forward to the almost the 20 th degree from October 16-December 20 and then backward or in reverse gear from December 20-March 10. Think of driving your car in reverse all the way to work or to the grocery store. Not as easy and driving forward right; we would have to pay more attention and have so many hazards along the way. Mars then moves forward the second time through the same stretch of zodiacal terrain from March 10-May 16. This one qualifies for the most déjà vu moments—knowing that you have done this before and with a more fated feeling.

Leos born before August 13 will experience Mars on their natal Sun degree three times. This can be both an energizing and frustrating experience. During the first period things might be moving along with a hectic pace; you might have collected a long list of things you want to accomplish. Beware of traffic rules and stick to those speed limits—why collect speeding tickets when you don't have to.

About the rewind period

Mars will be retrograde from December 20, 2009 until March 10, 2010. Mars is retrograde once every two years or so. This is a time when we take two steps forward and three steps back, while we seek new ways of tackling specific issues in life. I will talk about the issues in this column; these issues will be under 'construction' until June 2010. I always find Martian type activity to help use the energy constructively during that period. There were the years when I knitted three sweaters, not having held knitting needles in a decade or more. In 2003 I fell in love with the pressure washer and cleaned everything in site with it. It was like holding a gun but producing positive results. Last time in 2007, I signed up for a quilting class. Those of you who quilt can instantly think of the many metal implements used in the process. Those tools are Mars ruled. I still quilt, just bought a Serger, yes, while Mercury was retrograde—it was a bargain due to bankruptcy liquidation. It has a knife that cuts fabric in addition to the needles; I will learn to use it during the long Mars period. Mars is about physical activity, sports, martial arts, using tools (made of metal) and of course engines and anything with a motor. I find it is a perfect time to learn something new or pick up on a hobby or activity you used to enjoy.

Natal charts, however, are unique to individuals. In a natal chart Mars retrograde for example describes inherent behaviour and the way the person does things. With a retrograde Mars we expect hesitation, caution and reluctance to act in haste to be a part of the person's make up. The environment and upbringing of the person would have helped mould this type of behaviour.

About each year and energy shifts

Each year, the Sun travels through all of the Zodiacal signs. Your own sign marks your birthday, and the one month each year when you are likely to make fresh new choices and resolutions for yourself. During that month people around you pay you extra attention. It is our 'what do I want'-month. The month that follows brings the attention on your money and values, it is the natural time to create a budget, balance what you bring in with what goes out. If you know your ascending sign you can look at that as the first month to get more clues. The third month is about our daily life, schedules, cars, dealings with neighbours and communication; thus we tend to spend more time on these issues during the month the Sun is in the third sign after your own. That own sign is number 1. The fourth month is about family and home. The fifth is about month about children, romance and creative endeavours—things seem to flow with ease, regardless of what is going on. The sixth month following your month of birth brings work and health matters to the forefront—it's all in the details at that time. The seventh month, which begins six months after your birthday, is about relating and relationships. The eighth month is about shared resources and shared issues—an ideal time for investigating the means to accomplish something. The ninth month is about travel, exploration and finding ways to expand your horizons; relatives might factor in prominently during that time. The tenth month is about career and your accomplishments; bosses, parents and other authority figures may play an active role. The eleventh month is about friends, groups and about your wishes and aspirations—excellent time to make plans for your new year around the corner. The twelfth month, the month prior to your next birthday is a time to rest, to finish projects and find new activities in order to recharge your internal batteries.

Those themes play out many different ways in the course of our lives. One of those themes will now play out with Mars staying in one sector for close to eight months. Each sign is broken down to overview, review, rewind and repeat (rerun).

Horoscopes

Aries

March 19-April 19

Overview: For eight months starting October 16th Mars moves to live in your 5th solar house. This area is about creativity, children, love and romance and encompasses all kinds of things that make your heart sing. Sports and hobbies, gambling, speculation and all kinds of things we do for fun are described by this area of the horoscope. All or some of the concepts listed are under scrutiny while you find a different approach to handling the matters. In the final analysis, this is likely to produce excellent results—while it is happening our view is myopic, but looking back things fell into place just perfectly.

Review: October 16 to December 20 might describe how you are moving full-steam ahead, feeling excited about the possibilities——the endless possibilities that tempt you to throw caution to the wind. This is a highly energized time!

Rewind: Mars is your ruling planet, so the retrograde period December 20-March 10, can prove somewhat challenging; things do not move ahead at your preferred pace—extra fast—your patience is tested. An ex-boss used to call these periods ‘hurry up and wait'. However this is a time during which you are given the luxury to reassess your personal course of action. I aliken it to getting lost on your way to a specific place, we can choose to lose our cool, get frustrated, cuss and yell, or we can opt for appreciating the opportunity to observe the new scenery, find places we wouldn't have ever seen otherwise. Try something new, and if that happens to be very physical activity, warm up before going full steam and be more aware of your surroundings so you don't 'cause' an accident—most are preventable.

Repeat: This period runs from March 10 until June 6, 2010 and is likely filled with déjà vu moments—meaning seen it already; and in the case of Mars "I did this already, I don't particularly want to do it again, but I guess I must." This is the time to do things with the new tools you discovered during the rewind period and keeping in mind the faux pas (read: shouldn't have done that!) which took place during the review period. Every couple of years you are given the opportunity to realign your actions with your goals, and this go around your creative juices will awaken a bit more—take advantage of the opportunities while being aware that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Note that horoscopes address potential issues in broad terms; we have our own horoscope with an array of variables, and these provide much more information than a generalized write up. I have numerous inexpensive astrological reports for sale on this site; ranging from personality analysis to annual predictive reports. Read about the reports. A sample report of each is available through links on that page. If you would like a birthday report, consider the Solar Return charts available via email or instantly on line. For these ones, you will need to know the time you were born. If you are off by 30 minutes, the difference will be less for a computer-generated report. If you only know that it was around noon or in the morning, you will not benefit from these reports. Some predictive reports, such as Starlight will offer good insights without a known birth time. The next step is to book a consultation.

Taurus

April 19-May 20

Overview: For eight months starting October 16th Mars moves to live in your 4th solar house. The concepts that belong here are home, real estate, family as well as the way you see yourself subjectively. During these eight months you are likely to feel that you must take action—no more waiting for something to happen, you now need to make it happen. At times you may feel forced to do so, but ultimately you will simply learn it is time to move on. In the final analysis the entire period brings family and home to the forefront and it is up to you to make positive changes.

Review : During the first period October 16-December 20, you will be working fast toward changes. This might be an excellent time to do renovations at home; you might be thinking of selling and moving to a new place. Family is extra important now, and you might find yourself doing more for family members—help, support and making them feel special.

Rewind: The second part of this period December 20-March 10, may mark more challenges in accomplishing your goals and your energy levels may fluctuate with your motivation. During this time you should pay more attention to your safety. Accidents tend to happen close to home and most are preventable. So don't stand on a rickety chair to fix something up high, drive defensively in traffic and allow extra time to get from A to B. Mars retrograde periods tend to bring more traffic snarls.

It is about moving ahead with confidence having spent the last seven weeks, realigning your actions with your goals and aspirations. The older among us may be able to reflect on the events during October 62-June 63 and see parallels to life in the present. The major point, however, is that this kind of energy rolls around seldom, and therefore has more impact. Think of a houseguest, who came for a two-week visit, but chose to stay for 8 months—this would alter your daily life and chances are influence some of your choices.

In hindsight, most of the events and shifts brought during these 8 months are related to a new beginning of sorts with home, family, and the way you see yourself. Take the opportunity to spend some time reassessing who you are and what things you desire in your life, which are currently not a part of it.

Gemini

May 20-June 20

Overview: For eight months starting October 16th Mars moves to live in your 3rd solar house. You are looking at an extremely busy time. More commuting, more communicating and potentially more frequent car issues (or public transportation snafus). The people that are more likely play prominent part in your life during these eight months are sisters, brothers, siblings and cousins as well as neighbours and similar individuals—those who are a part of your everyday life. In terms of time, this might be a perfect time to sign up for one of those diploma courses; they tend to last about 8-9 months. Astrology's best gift is timing, timing, timing.

Review: For the first period October 16-December 20, you may find that resources come to you with more ease; friends and colleagues are extra helpful and supportive—things are moving fast. You might choose to become more involved in community affairs, helping at the local school, with a sports team, Cub Scout group, etc.

Rewind: During the second period, while Mars is moving against the grain, December 20-March 10, we tend to need to redo things, go back and finish tasks etc. We tend to notice what we could and should do differently. We might also be a little bit more forceful with our communications—less willing to remain diplomatic. The people who are more prominently in the picture now are siblings, neighbours and other people who are a part of our daily life. During this period you might want to choose both your words and actions with more care.

In the final analysis we learn the most effectively from our mistakes and now is the perfect time to fix things, make things better and hey, apologize when you know you could have handled things better.

We are freer to move forward with stronger conviction, motivation and with altered daily schedules, routines and potentially education. When you stop to think about it, the norm for Mars is about 6 weeks in a sign, now we get 8 months (six times the norm). This takes more sustained effort—regardless what you are working on.

Note that horoscopes address potential issues in broad terms; we have our own horoscope with an array of variables, and these provide much more information than a generalized write up. I have numerous inexpensive astrological reports for sale on this site; ranging from personality analysis to annual predictive reports. Read about the reports. Cancer

June 20-July 22

Overview: For eight months starting October 16th Mars moves to live in your 2nd solar house. This is about money and what you value. Normally Mars breezes through an area of the astrological chart, i.e. area of life, in six short weeks. In terms of the money house, this usually translates to buying a few luxury items because you are worth it . You might have expenses you did not plan for and consequently vow that you will make a budget! You might decide to get rid of a few things you no longer want or appreciate. This time the six weeks is stretched to 8 months... and there is a backward period. Therefore there is more emphasis on the issues; things tend to become more complicated when they take longer. In the final analysis your finances will be under better control when June 2010 rolls around, and in five years you aren't likely to remember the annoying unexpected expenses. However, knowing that ahead of time set a little aside for that proverbial rainy day.

Review: For the first period October 16-December 20, events and life itself speeds along fast. There can be a renewed sense of urgency to get things sorted out, which can make everything seem a little overwhelming. It is not a good idea to splurge on things. In fact planning to set aside time to figure out a realistic budget might be the perfect activity.

Rewind: During the Mars retrograde period December 20-March 10, we are retracing our steps, second guessing our choices and need to redo things. It is not a given that you have extra expenses during this time, it could also be that you finally collect on monies/settlements owed to you. Often this plays out so that you know you have money coming in, and are somehow forced to spend some of it before you actually receive it. This tends to incur extra costs—interest, etc.

Repeat: Repeat: This period runs from March 10 until June 6, 2010 and is likely filled with déjà vu moments—meaning seen it already; and in the case of Mars "I did this already, I don't particularly want to do it again, but I guess I must." This is the time to do things with the new tools you discovered during the rewind period and keeping in mind the faux pas (read: shouldn't have done that!) which took place during the review period. Whatever was on hold during the past two months is released and things begin to move along.

Note that horoscopes address potential issues in broad terms; we have our own horoscope with an array of variables, and these provide much more information than a generalized write up. I have numerous inexpensive astrological reports for sale on this site; ranging from personality analysis to annual predictive reports. Read about the reports. Leo

July 22-August 22

Overview: For eight months starting October 16th Mars moves to live in your Sun sign. This is a fifteen year cycle with many anomalies. In between, the norm is about six weeks at approx. two year intervals. The last time Mars was in your sign for this long was 1962-63 approximately the same dates as this time—October 16, 2009-June 6, 2010. There have been years at about 15 year intervals when this influence was in play for a shorter period of time such as October 1994-May 1995 for six months. These tend to be times we recall as significant in hindsight, and while we muddle through them in the now, we choose a new way of doing something important. During the past year, particularly in the last six weeks, we have made internal choices and during this time we intend to act based on our insights. There are three times during the next eight months that Mars will travel the through the first two-thirds of the sign. Those born prior to August 12-14 (depending on location, earlier date for the west coast of Canada and United States and the latest date for Australia, New Zealand etc.) will feel this energy and its impact more personally.

Mars is about action as well as cutting out things from our lives that no longer serve a purpose. Our courage to go after what we desire is tested. In the final analysis you will make many new choices for the next 15 years. What you choose now matters.

Review: For the first period October 16-December 20, you will be working fast; you are freshly energized and more forceful than is your norm. Do make a note to take along patience when driving, and avoid breaking the rules. Yes I can and of course I can are likely to be your motto now. Making decisions and choices is easy. Optimism is high through early November—yet with a pragmatic, rational back drop to all your actions. It is about personal choices now, what do you want for yourself. You can be a little too forceful at times, which tends to be intimidating for those around you—keep that in check to avoid misunderstandings. There are instances during this initial period where you are likely to get ahead of yourself. Things are beginning to move much more methodically in December and there are likely revisions to plans during the rewind period.

Rewind: Mars retrograde period December 20-March 10, is about adjusting your goals; you are likely to feel more cautious until the end of January. If you rushed through important things and tasks in during the review period, you are likely to find yourself fixing things. This is the period when our patience is tested. I think of this as three steps forward and two steps back. We need to pay attention to how and why we do things. Many a Leo may find themselves doing or heading toward unfamiliar territory, and remaining optimistic may require more of that innate faith that things always turn out for the better.

However now you are more aware of that your choices were right all along, your outlook on the future is clear and when all is said and done—you wonder why you didn't do this sooner. Well, it is about timing—when something is meant to be, the pieces fall into place very naturally.

Virgo

August 22-September 22

Overview: For eight months starting October 16th Mars moves to live in your 12th solar house. This area represents our inner life, innate fears and insecurities, it may create a desire to withdraw from the 'rat-race'. Our dream life tends to become vivid with this influence, and as we are looking at six months might as well learn about the symbolism of dreams, take up meditation or other similar activity that allows the mind to become focused on the invisible side of life. The dilemma with this time frame is that world refuses to leave us alone, and the demands on your time and effort seem to increase. Pick your activities wisely. Physically this can bring about a period where energy levels are at a low, or you may even experience illness. 12th house does represent hospitals.

Review: For the first period October 16-December 20 it is mostly about gathering new insights, perhaps becoming aware that you have more dreams than is the norm. On the flipside you might become more aware of your fears and inhibitions—those emotions that hold us back from trying new things. This is an excellent time to look at your beliefs and convictions from a fresh perspective—these change subtly over time. You might find yourself drawn toward meditation, toward the church or anything similar where we find others who are eager to explore spirituality in its many forms.

Rewind: Mars retrograde period December 20-March 10, could mark lower than usual energy levels, which suggests you might want to make sure that your diet and intake of vitamins etc. is good. This is not a time to ignore those nagging pains or signs of fatigue. This is a natural time to withdraw from activity that is too hectic. We all need to balance life's demands with adequate rest and relaxation. This could be an ideal time to sign up for a meditation or a yoga class; perhaps you've always wanted to try your hand at something artistic—we all have a creative spark, and too often we allow other demands to dictate the lack of time, rather than opt to make time.

Repeat: This period runs from March 10 until June 6, 2010 and is likely filled with déjà vu moments—meaning seen it already; and in the case of Mars “I did this already, I don't particularly want to do it again, but I guess I must." This is the time to do things with the new tools you discovered during the rewind period and keeping in mind the faux pas during the review period. Because the entire period is more behind the scenes for you, there is less demands for you to actually do something, merely opportunities to give new things a try, which tends to mean that other than you gained new insights nothing too dramatic took place.

Note that horoscopes address potential issues in broad terms; we have our own horoscope with an array of variables, and these provide much more information than a generalized write up. Libra

September 22-October 22

Overview: For eight months starting October 16th Mars moves to live in the eleventh house of your solar return chart. This presents a wonderful opportunity to work solidly toward your goals with grit, determination and optimism. These opportunities arise at fifteen year intervals—the last one with this kind of intensity took place back in around October 62-May 63, and this go-around lasts until June 6, 2010. It is easy to find support and assistance to achieve your wishes and aspirations. You have had quite a bit of activity with work/career; you may be on a new path and now finding resources to realign your actions with your new goals are strong. In about two weeks, Saturn moves into your sign increasing your ability to stick to your ideals. In the final analysis this was a big turning point and you are likely to feel firmly at the helm of your destiny.

Review: For the first period October 16-December 20, things move along speedily. This can be an exceptionally social time as well as provide ample opportunity to network. This also holds potential for finding new sources of income—this area is associated with the good spirit and gains. In career matters it is important to give it your all now, because the benefits you may reap are almost instantaneous. You might find that you are more interested in joining groups, getting involved in a political party or more keen to volunteer to do something for the greater good.

Rewind: Mars retrograde period December 20-March 10, may be tricky in terms of watching things move two steps forward and three steps back, however chances are that you won't actually notice this too much. If I had to think of potential pitfalls, I would have to go with communication issues with friends over clashing values and priorities. The other thing I'd want to mention being overconfident about an offer or opportunity along the lines of 'if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is'.

In hindsight, May-August 2010 brought opportunities and a renewed zest for life and all of the interesting things along the way.

Scorpio

October 22-November 21

Overview: For eight months starting October 16th Mars moves to live in the tenth house of your solar chart. The concepts that become pertinent now are work, career and your status. In 2005-07 similar themes were in play, and opportunities that did not quite materialize may return for a second look. The previous occurrence of realigning with your career/worldly goals took place back in 1994-1995 and with this kind of emphasis back in 1962-63. What I am emphasizing is that these kinds of energies occur seldom. Mars is also your ruling sign—thus the next eight months are doubly important. Work and career matters are simply enough concepts—the influence now is to make changes, the ones you desire, go after what you want. That is an easy statement but not always that easy to manifest. The status piece is about a change in how you are or who you are... something is changing. This can be an ideal time to move into a new phase of life—new career, new location, in short a different kind of future. The choices we make alter our direction in life—our destiny if you prefer that concept. In the final analysis where you are and what you are doing will have changed and the setting is different; naturally this is dependent on whether you want the change or fight it all the way.

Review: For the first period October 16-December 20, you will be working fast to promote, to sell and to ensure that what you do out there in the world is recognized and rewarded. You may feel a sense of urgency and get ahead of yourself. It is important to stay in the moment, but living in the future is sometimes much more alluring. Dealings with bosses and other authority figures can be challenging. If you happen to be female, you may notice that dealing with men is the challenging bit—remember that you shouldn't try to manipulate. You are extra determined at the moment and if you were born in the first 19 days of the Sun in Scorpio period, this period can bring out the optimist in you, the one who sees no obstacles—and seeing that hindsight is always 20/20 you should have paid attention to what others actually said versus what you wished they'd say or do. Don't mean that to sound cryptic, pay extra attention and practise being patient—good things come to those who wait.

Rewind: Mars retrograde period December 20-March 10, can be challenging. Everything appears to move at the speed of molasses (thick syrup that flows out very slowly) and you have your intuition telling you exactly how things will happen, but alas, you have to wait it out. You might feel like you need to play your cards close to your chest, not reveal your cards... do keep in mind that others have not leapt there yet. Patience is a must during these weeks, particularly until the end of January, when things shift, and even then we cannot things to move forward at our desired speed. Now is the time to speak clearly, act without haste and not rock the boat with the boss, if you prefer to keep the job you have.

I always like this last part of the long Mars influence, I however, always find myself telling others that we need to wait until we are past the starting point of the cycle, which occurs at the end of May. About that time we return to status quo and a sense of normalcy. In a nutshell, work toward what you truly desire during these exceptional eight months and eliminate things and stuff from your life that no longer serves a purpose.

Sagittarius

November 21-December 21

Overview: For eight months starting October 16th Mars moves to live in the ninth house of your solar chart. This is the area of the astrological chart associated with religion, convictions, opinions, foreign travel and in-laws. The challenges with this influence are limited and the potential to broaden your horizons and spread your wings HUGE. The last time was in 1994-95 (about three months each side of the change of year); you may recall how life shifted back then… The previous time when the influence lasts as long as now, however, was about the same dates 1962-63, now the images get foggier right? The point is that this energy rolls around only once every 15 years, which means that there is a sense of novelty and inability to frame the events, moods, etc. The average life encompasses maybe 6-7 of these cycles, thus we are talking about significant shifts. Your opinions and convictions are more than likely to shift considerably. We grow and mature, the things that held allure in our teens, twenties, thirties, etc. no longer do so 15, 30, 45 years down the road, right. Now the energy is in the element of fire—that is your elemententhusiasm and optimism rules. In the final analysis your world and your options increased exponentially, limited only by your personal limitations, which are self-imposedtake a chance.

Review: For the first period October 16-December 20, you are likely to see more options and more potential. It is a big world out there; connections are made faster thanks to the internet and the way that has shrunk our world. Most of you, my readers, won't recall having to wait 6 weeks for a letter to arrive with the information you need, now everything is on demand and instantaneous. Just think your home is out there for everyone to view now... the shot of my house includes me backing out the driveway! Not that long ago we didn't even think it possible, I would like to speculate that in less than a decade we can watch everything in real time. Now is the time for Sagittarius, to think about real time without boundaries.

Rewind: Mars retrograde period December 20-March 10, is less likely to cause disruptions for you; things just slow down so you can play catch up and dream up new possibilities. If you are dealing with legal types of issues, where documentation and proof is important, allow extra time. There are delays and if you are travelling check out that travel insurance. This period is not ideal for signing important documents or agreements. The entire 8 months, however, might be a great time to learn something new to increase your skills and gain additional vocational skills.

This is an excellent time to plan career moves and relocation—set things in motion.

Capricorn

December 21-January 19

Overview: For eight months starting October 16th Mars moves to live the eighth house of your solar chart. This area of the chart is associated with shared resources, sex, death and plumbing. Did the last word catch your attention? Astrology offers us a wide variety of concepts, and when we read horoscope columns the words come up here and there; sometimes it a bathroom renovation is highly important and the other concepts don't enter the equation. So you might be dealing with the bank, mortgage, debts and/or taxation issues at length over the next eight months. At length is the issue. One of the things I find fascinating about this sector of the astrological chart, is that the Hellenistic astrologers called this an idle place. Perhaps implying that there wasn't much we could do about the inevitable—the eighth is also the house of death. In real life I have found that we end up dealing with backed up toilets, plumbing or the septic field/tank during times when a planet, such as Mars, stays in this area at length. Not a biggie, we might think, but imagine the hassle of having to go next door to have a shower or take care of 'business'—easier said than done. Last time I dealt with this planetary influence, our septic tank failed and effluent began backing into the house. Yes, we had to borrow someone's shower, carry out all the water consumed in the kitchen... not pleasant. It also cost a pretty penny...

So there are good things that materialize during these times, resources are made available but there are also the unavoidable we need to deal with. In the final analysis your load in life and possibly your bank account will be lighter...

Review: For the first period October 16-December 20, things move ahead fast. It is an ideal time to take a good look at investments, debts, mortgages and find the time to go over the figures with your banker, financial advisor, etc. During times, like the recession, it is not easy to face the reality, but when we are better informed we can make those informed choices. It might be that you need to face the fact that you are of an age when you should book the appointment for a scope... This area of the horoscope describes all of those things we don't like to talk about in public. Once every 15 years or so, we need to look at things we'd rather not. So get that exam, become aware.

Rewind: Mars retrograde period December 20-March 10, might mean you need to make some adjustments, handle things that make you uncomfortable. If something does not feel right, there is a reason, and the best tackle is to investigate your options. This isn't an ideal time to sign up for a mortgage or a similar long-term commitment, best to leave it until after March 10. However, this is a time when we typically need to deal with things we have put off or done our best to avoid. I call it having to deal with the unavoidable. Just because it might not be the best time, does not mean that we can choose a better one. When we must we must, regardless of what the planetary energy is.

If you have health or financial concerns, take this time to sort it out.

Aquarius

January 19-February 18

Overview: For eight months starting October 16th Mars moves to live the seventh house of your solar chart. This is about relationships. It is about accommodating others and all of the others—including your partner—are more demanding than usual. There is drama galore! And the twist is that you really don't care for that much drama. The natural instinct is to fix it, find resources for people in your life, and at the moment there are lots of people in your life. This goes on for almost eight months—aha, yes a long time. In the final analysis relationships have moved to a different level, you have made many compromises... the tricky part is the rewind period...

Review: For the first period October 16-December 20, many new relationships become a part of your daily life. What should I do, might be the big question you hear often. Offering advice is always tricky, make sure it was really solicited (and even then double check), most people only wish to be heard. Even when they clearly ask for your advice, they only wish to be heard. This entire period is about putting the needs of others first—did you ever contemplate getting a degree, course or assistance in being a counsellor? This period might be a good one for working toward that. The most challenging thing in any life is relating to others. Our values are never identical, with a really good friend you can talk about this, but most of the time we need to skirt the issue. You don't particularly like skirting the issue, you love the truth. Most people cannot handle it with flair.

Rewind: Mars retrograde period December 20-March 10, brings the issue of communication in all of your relationships to the forefront. You have most likely read about Mercury retrograde and communication; all of that advice applies during this time. Listen more, say less. Avoid signing any important documents during this time. It is easier to be pulled into an argument or be forced to take sides... avoid it. Once again listen more and say less.

There is clarity now as well as renewed enthusiasm that it all worked out.

Note that horoscopes address potential issues in broad terms; we have our own horoscope with an array of variables, and these provide much more information than a generalized write up. I have numerous inexpensive astrological reports for sale on this site; ranging from personality analysis to annual predictive reports. Read about the reports. Pisces

February 18-March 19

Overview: For eight months starting October 16th Mars moves to live in your sixth house of work/chores and health. Bottom line you need to look after all of that! It is an ideal time to sort out your diet, medication and find ways to make your work and your daily environment healthier. It is about making adjustments. If your statement tends to be that you overdid it and then had to take time out, you might want to think about adjusting your actions. You may also find that you are helping people in your daily life and neglecting your own needs; your sensitivity to the needs of others tends to get in the way of doing what is best for you. In the final analysis the way you do things and your work environment will be different.

Review: For the first period October 16-December 20, things move ahead fast. You may have new obligations at work that demand more of your time. Working extra long hours can be taxing on your health or you might have to assume the tasks of someone else without the training you should have had. This is an ideal time to sign up for vocational training—your initiative might be the key. Find something you like to learn and sell it to the bosses. Every day we hear about the best foods, the best lifestyle, etc. now might be the perfect time to create an exercise regimen and a proper diet for you. Think about the possibilities when you have eight months to perfect it. During the first 6-8 weeks is the perfect time to get enthusiastic and follow through.

Rewind: Mars retrograde period December 20-March 10, is a tricky one, during which you should pay extra attention to your daily routines as well as your safety. It is easy to be distracted by all the things you think you should be handling and not pay enough attention to what else is going on. If you are working at something that requires thinking and analysis, pay extra attention to details and avoid being carried away by the possibilities. It is an excellent time to tap into your innovative ideas, you are rather natural in inspiring others. Maybe you should think about how to become a leader at work and within your community.

Repeat: This period runs from March 10 until June 6, 2010 and is likely filled with déjà vu moments—meaning seen it already; and in the case of Mars "I did this already, I don't particularly want to do it again, but I guess I must." This is the time to do things with the new tools you discovered during the rewind period and keeping in mind the faux pas (read: shouldn't have done that!) which took place during the review period.Lead by example, encourage others to follow your example and take time for you.

Time Zones

PST = Pacific Standard Time is 8 hours behind GMT=Greenwich Mean Time; PDT is Pacific Daylight Time and is 7 hours behind GMT. Time zones are typically expressed with either letters or the variance from GMT. The GMT times are given in brackets and all you need to know is the variance of your area to GMT and either add time if you live East of the Greenwich meridian at 0°W/E00' or deduct if you live west of the Greenwich meridian, which runs through England, France etc. I use a website http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ to get current information.

I use the 24-hour format on this website; that is 13:00 is 1PM, 17:00 is 5PM, thus any number in excess of 12:00 can be reduced to the PM time by deducting 12. Midnight is 0:00. Back to top

This report by Gina Ronco is a forecast report that not only describes future trends but advises you on how to best handle the astrological influences. For the outer planet transits, which have a longer and more powerful influence, the positive and negative tendencies, and remedies and suggestions for best handling the astrological influences are given. This is an intelligent and sensitive report designed to provide you practical information on how to succeed and move forward in your life. I have posted a sample report for Barack Obama during election time. I have only pulled out a few segments, not the entire report, which is about 15 pages per month.

Excerpt for Sun in the 11th house:

" Your community, social circle, and/or world events are a focus for you now. Beware of how you impact others, and how your actions and choices ripple out to influence the world. Conferences or other gatherings that are related to future developments and/or shared ideals and interests succeed for you at this time. You may lead, facilitate, or organize an important group function."

The above would apply to someone who has Capricorn rising during the month when the Sun is in Scorpio--and to an extent to someone who is a Capricorn during the Sun in Scorpio month.
