Mercury in Earth 2010 Review

The horoscopes in this column take a look at 2010 and the themes for each of the signs in detail. While waiting for the next column in about a month or so... check out the new report about the planet of luck—Jupiter. This report has no jargon and gets to the essence of how this beneficial energy plays out in your life.

The Mercury cycle with its beautiful geometry is exciting, the elemental themes for each year reveal how our everyday lives play out; what it is we need to work on that year. The Mercury cycle depicts our daily lives; up close and personal. In 2008 we experienced Mercury cycle in Air, and were filled with ideas, notions, dreams and inspiration, the sky was the limit. 2009 has been a transition from Air of thoughts and ideas into Earth of practical application. The earth cycle begins December 5, 2009 and lasts in full force until early October 2010; and we have a transition from earth to fire around the change of the year.

So, 2010 will be a practical year, rolling up our sleeves and getting stuff done. During December 5, 2009-February 3, 2011 Mercury will spend 242 days in one of these three signs associated with the element of Earth. Each time about two months in the three signs—Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. The previous earth cycle took place between December 2002 and January 2004. In 2011 the element of Fire—inspiration—takes over.

Skip the introduction and read how this might play out in your life. Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces also if you know your Ascending sign, you might prefer to read that instead. Note that these are all rather long, intended to cover the entire period of a year plus.

Timeline: December 5, 2009 - February 3, 2011

•  Mercury in Capricorn December 5, 2009-February 10, 2010 (67 days)

•  Mercury in Taurus April 2-June 10, 2010 (68 days)

•  Mercury in Virgo July 27-October 3, 2010 (68 days)

•  Mercury in Capricorn November 30-December 18, 2010 and

      •  January 13-February 3, 2011 (18+21 days)

The three earth signs are Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo — their main theme practical effort and application. This sequence begins with Capricorn. For just over two months (December 5, 2009-February 10, 2010) we will be coerced to become more practical with Saturn type issues. Capricorn is a Saturn ruled sign. Saturn is the character in our lives play that teaches us to do without, to learn responsibility and to take our time with getting to our destination. Saturn is now in Libra, in exalted shape, thus the lessons involve taking others into our account—putting out our best, so that we can receive the same in return. All of the earth signs are work-oriented; if it involves work then they have the feeling of having earned the rewards. Note that at the end of 2010 these themes we experience during December 2009 and February 10, 2010, repeat with the addition of inspiration and innovation to keep on going and perfecting.

Mercury Rx

Mercury will be retrograde December 26, 2009 to January 15, 2010, April 18-May 11, August 20-September 12, and December 10-30, 2010. During the weeks prior to the retrograde period, we tend to get ahead of ourselves, and are now afforded the opportunity to fix, repair and redo over these three weeks. Our thinking processes are more likely to be out of sync with our communication, which can cause miscommunication. It is always a good idea to keep receipts safely filed for purchases made during the time we are more likely to change our minds. Keep records of important communication; and it is always a wonderful time when we hunt for things we have misplaced and find things we forgot we had.

The second period, when Mercury is in Taurus (April 2-June 10, 2010) is about ‘plodding' along, working tirelessly toward our goals, aspirations and desires; now Venus is in charge and during these ten weeks, Venus will change signs and add a twist to how the energy feels and/or plays out. Venus will be in Taurus until April 24, in Gemini until May 19 and in Cancer until June 14. There are three distinct themes. The first three weeks we work toward owning, earning something that is practical, perhaps luxurious; then during the next 3+ weeks, it becomes easier to find advice, resources and information. During the last almost four weeks, we are likely to question if our efforts meet our emotional/security expectations.

The third period, when Mercury is in Virgo (July 27-October 3, 2010) the analytical and potentially critical or discerning nature of the sign is part of the equation. Mercury is exalted in Virgo, which makes the energy stronger. The strength of Virgo is in organization, analysis and flexibility—common sense is an integral part of Virgo. Let's do our research, find resources, makes lists, etc. and then make an informed decision!

The write ups are almost identical for the signs by element, the sequence varies. I am writing about the three major periods only, the one at the end of the year incorporates the element of fire and there is a difference. That will be another review, provided I have changed my approach to something different once again. If you would like to know about new articles, reviews, news, horoscopes etc. note that I send out one or two e-mailers to my readers, and a simple email is all it takes to get on that list.

Horoscopes

Aries

March 19-April 19

FireWith your Sun or Ascendant in a Fire sign (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), you will be working on the practical, material issues for the next year: money, work and career — how we earn our money, how much effort we expend at work, and how well we look after our health. These three areas are about creating concrete foundations in order to have our basic needs met.

December 5, 2009 - February 10, 2010: While Mercury is in Capricorn you are addressing career matters and assessing your accomplishments, as well as things grouped under the word status. I am not talking only of reaching the top rung on the corporate ladder, but also the changes we experience throughout life, those milestones during which we graduate from school/university, become parents, get married, become single again, get promotions, learn to handle our dealings with authority figures, which begin with parents, then teachers, bosses, governmental bodies, etc.

This area of life, astrologically speaking, represents the best we can be in terms of contribution to our family, community, country or the world. This is the house that astrologers view with care to determine our worldly success, our climb on the corporate ladder or the ladder of life experiences.

Capricorn (like all earth signs) is a steady climber, desiring results and rewards in the fullness of time. During this time frame we need to learn how to improve what we have accomplished, work solidly toward attaining new rewards and goals, and putting our best foot forward. Naturally enough this can also be a time frame where the dissatisfaction that has built up over time demands that we instigate changes so that we can have a career/status or avocation that feeds our inner goals. Capricorn, however, does not make impulsive changes, but works toward goals methodically, knowing that time is on our side.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (December 26, 2009-January 15, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. The 'enforcers' might be our boss, parent, a governmental body, the taxation department; and we now have three weeks during which to repair, redo, fix, and improve our work. Saturn is in charge now, and he wants things done properly in accordance with generally accepted standards. Matters begun during Mercury retrograde periods tend to go through many revisions and changes along the way. I personally avoid major purchases during these periods; and if I must replace the furnace, computer, etc. I buy extended insurance/coverage. I also pack extra 'patience' if I have to arrange travel during this time, and make sure I have travel and cancellation insurance and something good to read at the airport, etc.

April 2 - June 10, 2009: During the almost ten weeks, when Mercury is in Taurus, it is about money and your ability to earn and save. The area of the astrological chart, the second house, which is about our money and possessions as well as our ability to look after ourselves and others under our care, is under careful consideration. It is a time to find the means and ways to balance your budget, create one and review who gets your money and how you gain control over these issues. On an issue level we have to tend to our perceived value both on a material and emotional level. Time belongs to this segment of the chart, and with the earth emphasis we can no longer afford to fritter our time away, but we need to make the days and months count in order to produce an emotional and financial sense of security.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (April 18-May 11, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. We might have forgotten to pay a bill, misplaced important documents, forgotten to maintain our computer or lost a credit card or failed to mail our tax return. Maybe we need to return a faulty product, but cannot find the receipt or to our disgust realize that the warranty expired a week ago. This can be an excellent time to thoroughly review any and all financial matters; investments and insurance policies, etc.

July 27-October 3: While Mercury is in Virgo for 68 days, you will be handling issues related to work, being of service and health matters. This is a perfect time to hone practical skills and learn to cope with the practical side of life. In order to survive we need to have a set of skills, such as to cook in order to feed ourselves or at least know how to provide nourishment to ourselves. We need to know how to pay our bills, secure services we need and all kinds of practical mundane skills — common sense can go a long way, but in order to cultivate that sensibility we need to have learned basic coping skills. Co-workers belong here as well, and while the influence is in this area of our lives it may be the time to learn to understand your co-workers and accept the things that cannot be changed and learn to take practical steps in order to work toward solutions with these relationships that can be improved.

This is also an ideal time to take a good, honest look at your habits, diet and exercise regimen. Being too sedentary or eating a diet that is too rich, simply isn't good for us. You might find that everyone is offering you advise which you know you didn't solicit — perhaps, you should listen...

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (August 20-September 12, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. One of the most typical scenarios is something at work or with our work. When we did a task, prepared material, etc. we failed to double-check our work, and now it needs to be revised. We might experience disruptions at work, because people left or new people came into our daily work environment. This is always an adjustment; we tend to be creatures of habit.

The featured report for this review is Jupiter's Promise. This report integrates what Jupiter promises in your life; and how and when it delivers on that promise. Read about Jupiter's Promise in the right-hand sidebar. This report just like the Saturn's Promise was written by astrologer Stephanie Clement. Both reports are $10 each. Naturally, you are also welcome to schedule an appointment with me. There is no report on Mercury, but the above write up for your sign might be something you want to refer to throughout the year.

Taurus

April 19-May 20

Mercury2010

If your Sun or Ascendant is in Taurus you will be handling issues related to life overall—your attitude, your inspiration and your quest to broaden your horizons. It is an ideal year to rekindle your inspiration, and naturally you will channel this energy toward something productive and practical. It is also an ideal year to review and revise your attitude toward life.

During this year (Dec 09 - end of 2010) you are addressing both creation and recreation. Our physical appearance changes over time, some of the changes we implement ourselves and others are due to time and our environment. Our attitude toward romance, children and our creative side also goes through adjustment as we keep on recreating our attitude. Similarly, our views, opinions and convictions go through big changes in the course of our lives, looking back we seldom even resonate with who we were only a few short cycles ago (in increments of almost 7 years). 2010 is the time to recreate yourself, become inspired and take that inspiration to a heightened level and become more aware of the fire that fuels our life.

December 5, 2009 - February 10, 2010: Mercury is in Capricorn (for 67 days) tends to be a delightfully busy period, lots of new experiences. Over a period of seven years our views, opinions and convictions are ready for revision—wouldn't you agree. Life cannot be allowed to stagnate; periodically we need to rekindle that divine spark of enthusiasm. Find something that makes you feel alive. Exploring and/or studying something new, is a wonderful way to broaden your horizons. We may enjoy philosophizing about life and life's mysteries. Perhaps religion and our beliefs and convictions need visiting. Now is a great time to venture out there to learn something new about the part of life that does not exist in the familiar neighbourhood of our daily existence.

In terms of people, you may now have lots of encounters with relatives and visitors from a far, yet another way to learn and grow. Life is very future-oriented for you now, setting goals for 2010 rather natural. In a few months, it will be about choices you make—plan without setting limitations, you can always make adjustments later—for now imagine!

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (December 26, 2009-January 15, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. The temptation during this time is to take on too much and then having to renege on promises made. You may have to deal with insurance and/or travel matters—keep important documents safely filed; it is harder to pay attention to details now.

April 2 - June 10, 2009: during the almost ten weeks, when Mercury is in Taurus everything is centred on you, your attitude and physical body. It is the ideal time to revisit your goals, your desires and plans—find that spark within to let your energy have a fuller expression. You may find that you are busier than ever particularly with all kinds of distractions; some are welcome and others a nuisance. The many conversations, emails, etc. provide much food for thought. You are reconsidering all the things you do, wish you could squeeze into your life and how you would like to change direction. Amidst all the busyness you may decide you also need a new look, haircut and perhaps your teeth need cleaning and you need to find the time to get an eye exam, new glasses... and once again the phone rings, there is a knock at the door and you forgot about the appointment, meeting, etc. you had scheduled while you weren't quite so busy. Ultimately this is a time to choose for yourself, adjust your attitude, approach and expectations. A few short months ago you pondered the meaning of life, and in the summer you will be questioning if you are having fun doing what you do… so now take time out to think about what you truly desire and work on change only you can implement.

During the three weeks Mercury is retrograde (April 18-May 11, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. It is always annoying when we realize we made mistakes, and have to allocate time to repair, redo and even rethink. During these weeks pay extra attention to your choice of words, read emails and other communication with care before hitting the send button. Keep your calendar, daily planner close by for changes and reschedules. Try to be more flexible when others disrupt your carefully planned agenda.

July 27-October 3: While Mercury is in Virgo for 68 days you are likely to be pondering whether you are having fun, enjoying what you do and what you need to change in order to feel more alive. During this time you are likely to be more involved with the affairs of your children. Your role may be to dole out practical, sound advice—perhaps you are teaching them how to handle life's ups and downs in a more matter of fact fashion, rather than simply allow events to control our lives.

You might reconnect with your creative, innovative side. Whether you have always desired to paint, write or create 'masterpieces' using wood, metal, etc., or cultivate that perfect garden or even a scrap book—now is the time to apply the skills of your hands and mind to make something creative that gives you a sense of satisfaction. This is also the area of life where we need and desire to have fun and to PLAY. We need to balance all facets of our lives in order to feel content. This is the time to create contentment in your life.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (August 20-September 12, 2010) you need to pay more attention to your choice of words. Mistakes and errors in our judgement are brought to our attention now. Listen to what is said rather than make a comment before you took the time to hear the message. Misunderstandings are so easy to avoid, but we all encounter them—some simply take longer to resolve. It is that kind of time.

Gemini

May 20-June 20

Mercury 2010

The issues over the next year or so, beginning December 5 are centered on home and emotional security, obligations, taxes and commitment, the world of dreams, faith and insecurities. You tend to be very pragmatic about these matters—however, this year you are more likely to question your beliefs and are more focused on finding answers or just better questions.

On a practical note, you are also likely to spend a fair bit of time sorting out things at home, and find that you are engaged in deep discussions with family members more frequently. Dealing with tax returns, investments and debts requires your undivided attention. We tend to venture into unfamiliar territory both figuratively and literally during years like this.

December 5, 2009 - February 10, 2010: While Mercury is in Capricorn for 67 days, it is time to approach those inevitable issues in life—taxes, mortgages, loans, investments, plumbing (inside the house and inside our bodies). Both common sense and logic are required; it may mean setting aside things you would rather be doing in order to sort some of these things out. This year, for you, it co-insides with the actual tax season in Canada and the US, which is great if you are an accountant, because you'll be busy and that always mean cash flow. As you are reading this ahead of time, you might want to begin collecting the ‘evidence' for the taxman early and avoid the aggravation of hunting for receipts etc.

We may also be dealing with property issues, inheritance and insurance matters during these many weeks. It is all in the details, but if we do those properly we don't have to worry about undone tasks. It is about being practical about these things. It might be time to make out a will and a physical with your healthcare provider might not be a bad idea. Issues with your committed relationship may need work now—the best relationships are cultivated. You also need to stay completely honest and open. This might be called on the houses of secrets, but there are some secrets we cannot afford to keep, if we want to keep the relationship.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (December 26, 2009-January 15, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. It is always annoying when we realize we made mistakes, and have to allocate time to repair, redo and even rethink. Omissions can prove costly now, because you are dealing with shared assets and resources. Failure to pay the utility bill or make the mortgage payment can mean that you lose the service, property, etc. If we fail to file our tax return, there are repercussions... So keep those important financial documents in a filing box so that you have your records and proof.

April 2 - June 10, 2009: during the almost ten weeks, when Mercury is in Taurus, marks a time when you need more alone time—to reflect, to contemplate and to listen to your own thoughts. This can be a highly productive time for those who work behind the scenes and prefer solitude from time to time. Throughout the next year you are addressing intimately personal areas of life. During this two-month period it is about who you are when you think no-one is watching. Have you noticed how some people smile when they are by themselves; some look as if the weight of the world is resting on their shoulders. Which describes what you are like when alone with only your own thoughts to keep you company? During this time we tend to address old issues, often associated with fear or anxiety and need to tap into our innate strength. It takes time to learn to pat ourselves on the back for what we know how to do and be—others notice our strengths years before we even have an inkling.

This is part of the annual cycle that defines the process of ending a period so we can launch a new year starting with our birthday. The energy of Taurus is practical, no nonsense and filled with strength. The normal month long cycle does not apply this year nor next; this time you need to do deeper level work on the issues described in this part. Might as well get out the notebook in order to record your dreams, the next step, of course, is to get a dream dictionary or a book of symbols. Our collective set of symbols varies little between cultures, but the essence of symbols remains about the same. When we dream of cooking we are creating sustenance, and a nurturing atmosphere. When we dream of the Ocean it is to do with emotions. Learn about your own nature and coping mechanisms by paying attention to your dreams.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (April 18-May 11, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. It is always annoying when we realize we made mistakes, and have to allocate time to repair, redo and even rethink. During these weeks make sure to set aside time for rest and relaxation—it is the perfect time to recharge your internal batteries. Take long walks, read a good book or few, get lost in the magic of a movie... reconnect with what feeds your spirit.

July-27- October 3, during the 68 days with Mercury in Virgo you will be handling matters close to home and have more interaction with family members. Proffering advice can be touchy now. You may be thinking about your need for security. What is it you truly need in this world to feel safe and secure? I am not merely talking about locks on the doors or burglar alarms, but the things that need to be in place for you to feel comfortable. During this period there is likely to be a lot of activity in your home; children may be leaving or returning to the 'nest'. You might feel rather domestic and spend extra time in the kitchen creating scrumptious meals; decide you need a juicer, food processor, bread maker, etc. Fast food is not as appealing to you now as home made goods—what an ideal time to sign up for cooking classes or what about sharing your skills with others.

At this time you may find yourself contemplating your view of yourself as opposed to how you think others see you. This is the time when we spend more time in family type activities than normal, maybe even the time you think of starting one.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (August 20-September 12, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. It is important to choose words with care, especially with family members. It is also an excellent time to 'clear the air', sort our any misunderstandings. Family relationships are the most complex of all, we didn't get to choose these people we are related to by blood—we simply grew up with them and know them rather well from that time. However as kids move out, we have the opportunity to learn about who they have become as adults. Our parents had a life before we came along, and now that they are sharing their days with each other, who have they become? In short dealings with family can be extra complicated now.

Cancer

June 20-July 22

Mercury 2010

For the water signs (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces Sun or Rising Sign) relationships and the art of communication are front and centre for a year beginning December 5, 2009. You know relationships take effort; it is so easy to forget to stay in touch. This year you will have ample opportunity to reconnect with siblings, neighbours, friends and most importantly your partner in the journey of life. You may also find that you miss the camaraderie of a group of individuals who share your interests. Without new ideas, we end up spending too much time alone with our thoughts. Once in a while it is time to liven things up. 2010 is ideal for that.

December 5, 2009 - February 10, 2010: While Mercury is in Capricorn for 67 days you are likely to be busy working on your relationships—all of them. Communication and sharing are the most important components of any relationship. While you might know how to read minds, most of us do not. Avoid sounding critical, you might not mean to, however, it is never about what we say but what others hear. Over these seven weeks, you are likely to find that you need to be of assistance, service, etc. for others. You are also likely meet new people and somewhere during this time also people from the past are likely to contact you.

You are naturally unselfish, and now you may find that you still need to be more empathetic, more accommodating and you may have less time to call your own. This can be an excellent time to work with advisors, bankers, lawyers, etc. for the best results. You are thinking very clearly and rationally now—a great time to sort out all kinds of issues.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (December 26, 2009-January 15, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. It is always annoying when we realize we made mistakes, and have to allocate time to repair, redo and even rethink. During these three weeks you might forget appointments, to answer emails or the communiqué might simply get lost in the shuffle or the mail. My favourite is finding things I had forgotten about, or lost years ago. You might need to get the suitcase down for a trip and find clothing you swear you must have left behind. If we are lucky it still fits. Now would be a good time to keep all paperwork safely filed, especially if it involves money.

April 2 - June 10, 2009: during the almost ten weeks, when Mercury is in Taurus you will be dealings with groups, friends and reconnecting with your personal goals and aspirations. This is one of the best cycles (we get one every seven years for a couple of months) and there is short rerun at the end of 2010 with an additional theme of connecting your spiritual beliefs and/or faith with working solidly toward your 'heart's desire'. The downside during this time can be that there are far too many ideas waiting for you to create concrete, real results. However, it is time to roll up the sleeves to realize something tangible with one of your ideas—something you can be proud of.

Your social life is likely to be busy now. This is a natural time to meet new people, perhaps forming a long lasting bond. It is also an ideal time to network. Now is also the time to address long-range goals—five year plans—where would you like to see yourself five years from now?

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (April 18-May 11, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. This go-around these might mean misunderstandings with friends, colleagues or acquaintances. Your mind is busy, you have a hectic schedule and therefore it is all too easy to make comments without thinking things through and to miss an appointment, lunch with a friend, etc. In short it is easy for you to be distracted now.

July 27-October 3: While Mercury is in Virgo for 68 days promises to be a busy period. Remember to take breaks and not to set unrealistic goals for yourself. You tend to have a knack of being rather exacting with your own expectations—not of others but of yourself. Be kinder to yourself. The entire year is about relating and communicating. Great for those involved in writing, teaching, selling and any other 'job' that requires communication. This is an ideal time to explore vocational courses, to learn something concrete and practical, but do think weeks rather than months. You may notice that while we tend to auto-pilot through many of life's passages, when we make choices for ourselves, we notice that we are firmly in charge of our own destiny. Practise living in the moment—now is perfect.

The people who are prominently in the picture now are sisters, brothers and others who are a part of our daily life. It is always prudent to listen with care before offering advice—it is amazing how often others simply want to be heard rather than told what they ought to be doing with their lives.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (August 20-September 12, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. It is always annoying when we realize we made mistakes, and have to allocate time to repair, redo and even rethink. Pay attention to those routine things you do, pay bills, pick up groceries, get the car serviced or gas tank filled; it is easy to slip into the future mode and forget to take of routine things. This is an excellent time to proof read important documents, proposals and other things that deal with what you have accumulated over the years. During this three week period, express everything with clarity—most misunderstandings are easy to avoid.

Leo

July 22-August 22

FireWith your Sun or Ascendant in a Fire sign (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), you will be working on the practical, material issues for the next year: money, work and career — how we earn our money, how much effort we expend at work, and how well we look after our health. Saturn is in Libra during this period, and this might be an ideal time to scout out new options for your daily activities; this can be a time when new opportunities emerge. Read about the Saturn influence in my Saturn review.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (December 26, 2009-January 15, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention.

April 2 - June 10, 2009: during the almost ten weeks, when Mercury is in Taurus you are addressing career matters and assessing your accomplishments, as well as things grouped under the word status.

Taurus (like all earth signs) is a steady climber, desiring results and rewards in the fullness of time. Taurus, however, does not make impulsive changes, but works toward goals methodically, knowing that time is on our side.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (April 18-May 11, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention.

July 27-October 3: While Mercury is in Virgo for 68 days it is about money and your ability to earn and save. The area of the astrological chart, the second house, which is about our money and possessions as well as our ability to look after ourselves and others under our care, is under careful consideration. It is a time to find the means and ways to balance your budget, create one and review who gets your money and how you gain control over these issues. Wouldn't it be nice not to worry about money; once we organize things properly we reduce the amount of worry, which tends to result from not knowing. On an issue level we have to tend to our perceived value both on a material and emotional level. Time belongs to this segment of the chart, and with the earth emphasis we can no longer afford to fritter our time away, but we need to make the days and months count in order to produce an emotional and financial sense of security.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (August 20-September 12, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention.

Virgo

August 22-September 22

Mercury 2010

If your Sun or Ascendant is in Virgo you will be handling issues related to life overall—your attitude, your inspiration and your quest to broaden your horizons.

2010 is the time to recreate yourself , become inspired and take that inspiration to a heightened level and become more aware of the fire that fuels our life.

December 5, 2009 - February 10, 2010: While Mercury is in Capricorn for 67 days you are likely to be pondering whether you are having fun, enjoying what you do and what you need to change in order to feel more alive.

During the three weeks, when Mercury is retrograde (December 26, 2009-January 15, 2010) you need to pay more attention to your choice of words. Mistakes and errors in our judgement are brought to our attention now. Listen to what is said rather than make a comment before you took the time to hear the message. Misunderstandings are so easy to avoid, but we all encounter them—some simply take longer to resolve. It is that kind of time.

April 2 - June 10, 2009: during the almost ten weeks, when Mercury is in Taurus tends to be a delightfully busy period, lots of new experiences.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (April 18-May 11, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. The temptation during this time is to take on too much and then having to renege on promises made. You may have to deal with insurance and/or travel matters—keep important documents safely filed; it is harder to pay attention to details now.

July 27-October 3: While Mercury is in Virgo for 68 days everything is centred on you, your attitude and physical body. Earlier this year you spent time pondering what sparks your enthusiasm and what you consider fun... so now take time out to think about what you truly desire and work on change only you can implement.

During the three weeks Mercury is retrograde (August 20-September 12, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention.

Libra

September 22-October 22

December 5, 2009 - February 10, 2010: While Mercury is in Capricorn for 67 days - you will be handling matters close to home and have more interaction with family members.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (December 26, 2009-January 15, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention.

April 2 - June 10, 2009: during the almost ten weeks, when Mercury is in Taurus, it is time to approach those inevitable issues in life—taxes, mortgages, loans, investments, plumbing (inside the house and inside our bodies). Both common sense and logic are required; it may mean setting aside things you would rather be doing in order to sort some of these things out. This year, for you, it co-insides with the actual tax season in Canada and the US, which is great if you are an accountant, because you'll be busy and that always mean cash flow. As you are reading this ahead of time, you might want to begin collecting the 'evidence' for the taxman early and avoid the aggravation of hunting for receipts etc.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (April 18-May 11, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. It is always annoying when we realize we made mistakes, and have to allocate time to repair, redo and even rethink.

July-27- October 3, during the 68 days with Mercury in Virgo is a time when you need more alone time—to reflect, to contemplate and to listen to your own thoughts.

The energy of Virgo is practical, no nonsense and filled with strength.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (August 20-September 12, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. It is always annoying when we realize we made mistakes, and have to allocate time to repair, redo and even rethink. During these weeks make sure to set aside time for rest and relaxation—it is the perfect time to recharge your internal batteries. Take long walks, read a good book or few, get lost in the magic of a movie... reconnect with what feeds your spirit.

Scorpio

October 22-November 21

December 5, 2009 - February 10, 2010: While Mercury is in Capricorn for 67 days promises to be a busy period. In the early part of December you will likely notice a prominent theme that has entered your life in the past year; now you have choices and decisions to make. We tend to auto-pilot through many of life's passages, but when we make choices for ourselves, we are firmly in charge of our own destiny. Practise living in the moment—now is perfect.

The people who are prominently in the picture now are sisters, brothers and others who are a part of our daily life. It is always prudent to listen with care before offering advice—it is amazing how often others simply want to be heard rather than told what they ought to be doing with their lives.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (December 5, 2009-January 15, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention.

April 2 - June 10, 2009: during the almost ten weeks, when Mercury is in Taurus you are likely to be busy working on your relationships—all of them.

You may find that you need to be more empathetic, more accommodating and you may have less time to call your own. This can be an excellent time to work with advisors, bankers, lawyers, etc. for the best results. You are thinking very clearly and rationally now—a great time to sort out all kinds of issues.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (April 18-May 11, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. It is always annoying when we realize we made mistakes, and have to allocate time to repair, redo and even rethink.

July 27-October 3: While Mercury is in Virgo for 68 days you will be dealings with groups, friends and reconnecting with your personal goals and aspirations.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (August 20-September 12, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention.

Sagittarius

November 21-December 21

FireWith your Sun or Ascendant in a Fire sign (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), you will be working on the practical, material issues for the next year: money, work and career — how we earn our money, how much effort we expend at work, and how well we look after our health. These three areas are about creating concrete foundations in order to have our basic needs met.

December 5, 2009 - February 10, 2010: While Mercury is in Capricorn for 67 days it is about money and your ability to earn and save. The area of the astrological chart, the second house, which is about our money and possessions as well as our ability to look after ourselves and others under our care, is under careful consideration. It is a time to find the means and ways to balance your budget, create one and review who gets your money and how you gain control over these issues. You tend to be rather pragmatic about money, and at times rather frugal, but it is a good idea to review things and perhaps set new long-range goals. On an issue level we have to tend to our perceived value both on a material and emotional level. Time belongs to this segment of the chart, and with the earth emphasis we can no longer afford to fritter our time away, but we need to make the days and months count in order to produce an emotional and financial sense of security.

April 2 - June 10, 2009: during the almost ten weeks, when Mercury is in Taurus you will be handling issues related to work, being of service and health matters.

Saturn is in Virgo during this period, and making this an ideal time to make solid progress with work-related matters. It is about perfecting and working solidly toward your goals. I think that from a material perspective this is a wonderful year for Sagittarians. Read about the Saturn influence in my Saturn review.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (April 18-May 11, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention.

July 27-October 3: While Mercury is in Virgo for 68 days you are addressing career matters and assessing your accomplishments, as well as things grouped under the word status.

Virgo (like all earth signs) is a steady climber, desiring results and rewards in the fullness of time with discernment and proper analysis. Virgo, however, does not make impulsive changes, but chooses after proper analysis and research.

From April 7 to July 21, Saturn returned to Virgo briefly and echoes themes from the summer-autumn of 2009. This might mean that your new responsibilities in the now mean that you are working extra hard but might have new incentives to do so.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (August 20-September 12, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. The 'enforcers' might be our boss, parent, a governmental body, the taxation department; and we now have three weeks during which to repair, redo, fix, and improve our work. Mercury is its sign of exaltation now as is Saturn; what wonderful opportunities concentrated effort can bring!

April 2 - June 10, 2009: during the almost ten weeks, when Mercury is in Taurus you are likely to be pondering whether you are having fun, enjoying what you do and what you need to change in order to feel more alive.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (April 18-May 11, 2010) you need to pay more attention to your choice of words. Mistakes and errors in our judgement are brought to our attention now. Listen to what is said rather than make a comment before you took the time to hear the message. Misunderstandings are so easy to avoid, but we all encounter them—some simply take longer to resolve. It is that kind of time.

July 27-October 3: While Mercury is in Virgo for 68 days tends to be a delightfully busy period, lots of new experiences.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (August 20-September 12, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. The temptation during this time is to take on too much and then having to renege on promises made. You may have to deal with insurance and/or travel matters—keep important documents safely filed; it is harder to pay attention to details now.

Aquarius

January 19-February 18

December 5, 2009 - February 10, 2010: While Mercury is in Capricorn for 67 days is a time when you need more alone time—to reflect, to contemplate and to listen to your own thoughts.

The energy of Capricorn is practical, no nonsense and filled with strength.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (December 26, 2009-January 15, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. It is always annoying when we realize we made mistakes, and have to allocate time to repair, redo and even rethink. During these weeks make sure to set aside time for rest and relaxation—it is the perfect time to recharge your internal batteries. Take long walks, read a good book or few, get lost in the magic of a movie... reconnect with what feeds your spirit.

April 2 - June 10, 2009: during the almost ten weeks, when Mercury is in Taurus you will be handling matters close to home and have more interaction with family members. Proffering advice can be touchy now. You may be thinking about your need for security. What is it you truly need in this world to feel safe and secure? I am not merely talking about locks on the doors or burglar alarms, but the things that need to be in place for you to feel comfortable. During this period there is likely to be a lot of activity in your home; children may be leaving or returning to the ‘nest'.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (April 18-May 11, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention.

July 27-October 3: While Mercury is in Virgo for 68 days it is time to approach those inevitable issues in life—taxes, mortgages, loans, investments, plumbing (inside the house and inside our bodies). Both common sense and logic are required; it may mean setting aside things you would rather be doing in order to sort some of these things out. This year is great if you are an accountant, because you'll be busy and that always mean cash flow. As you are reading this ahead of time, you might want to begin collecting the 'evidence' for the taxman early and avoid the aggravation of hunting for receipts etc.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (August 20-September 12, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. It is always annoying when we realize we made mistakes, and have to allocate time to repair, redo and even rethink.

Pisces

February 18-March 19

December 5, 2009 - February 10, 2010: While Mercury is in Capricorn for 67 days you will be dealings with groups, friends and reconnecting with your personal goals and aspirations.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (December 26, 2009-January 15, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention.

April 2 - June 10, 2009: during the almost ten weeks, when Mercury is in Taurus promises to be a busy period.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (April 18-May 11, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention.

July 27-October 3: While Mercury is in Virgo for 68 days, you are likely to be busy working on your relationships—all of them.

The three weeks, during which Mercury is retrograde (August 20-September 12, 2010) mistakes and errors in our judgement, are brought to our attention. It is always annoying when we realize we made mistakes, and have to allocate time to repair, redo and even rethink.

Jupiter's Promise

Jupiter's Promise

I ordered a new report writer in mid-November. This one delineates the Jupiter influence in your life. Jupiter is the planet of expansion. This report is written by Stephanie Clement, whose Saturn report is very popular with my readers and clients and I thought this one would be a wonderful option for the personalized reports available off my site.

This report integrates what Jupiter promises in your life; and how and when it delivers on that promise. This report just like the Saturn's Promise was written by astrologer Stephanie Clement. Both reports are $10 each.

Below a brief extract from the introductory part:

"Jupiter is the Santa Claus of the planets. Where it is found in the birth chart, we find a focus for our hopes and dreams. It indicates an area of life where we are optimistic, expansive, generous, and often successful. It also indicates an area of popularity. Sometimes Jupiter shows where we are overconfident or extravagant. It shows where and how we seek to develop a more idealistic or philosophical attitude, and also where we can be impractical, excessive, or ostentatious.

On a practical level Jupiter governs function -- the way things work. This includes processes in the physical body."

An extract about one of the potential milestones:

"Your Personal Milestone Indicator around age 36. At your third Jupiter Return, Jupiter is in the house of career and social position. Your progress to date may have had its ups and downs. Now you begin a twelve year period in which you expand every career and social possibility. You have a sense of duty firmly in place, and you will build on your sense of ethics."

This report by Stephanie Clement integrates what Saturn promises in your life; and how and when it delivers on that promise.

Excerpt about the effect of Saturn return from this insightful report:

"The time of the Saturn return is good for clearing out the dead wood of a stagnant career, old relationships, and other things that are no longer useful to you. This is also a time of beginning. After any repairs to your life that seem essential, you can take off in a new direction. If you like where you find yourself, you enter into life's activities with renewed vigor. Finally, you put down deep roots that support you through the next 28 to 30 years successfully.

During this transitional period you learn a lot about yourself, about the people close to you, and about your long-term goals and desires. You test out the methods you have learned in the past and refine them as you go along. You may find (or recall) yourself looking into yourself . What have you personally accomplished? What have you had to endure, through no fault of your own, but because of circumstances? Where are you in terms of goals you may have set for yourself long ago? Are they even important now? "

Every year I post horoscopes for each of the signs. These are based on the Sun sign. Did you know we each have an entire horoscope of our own, which defines who we are and what our strengths and weaknesses are.

A great birthday present is a Solar Return Report; the Sun returns to the same place it was at your birth once a year and that chart tells you about what the year ahead has in store, specifically for you.
