The significant shifts in planetary energy began during the past four months, and we have many more to come. 2007 was a challenging year for many of us. When long cycles reach the final degrees in a sign, we feel a sense of urgency to complete EVERYTHING on our list. This naturally isn't doable, no matter how much we would like to conclude everything. In the last six-seven weeks of 2007, most of us became too busy to attend to everything, and that, which entered our lives since September, was emotional in nature and now we needed to learn practical ways of handling issues. In astrology, there are short cycles and extremely long ones—many are changing now, and the more changes we have in the stars the more changes we will have in our lives. Is it a curse or a blessing, when we are wished: "may you live in interesting times"?
Since September 2007, we have all felt 'stuck' somehow. Our experiences are all unique and different. Some of the potential events and issues, including dealing with family members and housing related issues more. Perhaps we have needed to rely on assistance more than we are accustomed. Organizing a trip, procuring insurance, dealing with an insurance claim or the loss of a family member are some of the issues that figure prominently now. Some of us are luckier, and we have only had to deal with the furnace seizing up on us, the hot water heater that no longer works, the washer and dryer, the fridge—anything that has a motor and deals with water.
Mars is retrograde in Gemini as the New Year begins. It is regressing (going back in time…) in the area of your chart associated with partners, spouse, people in your life in general and professionals/advisors. When planets move against the norm, the issues they represent are 'in our face'. This means we can no longer sweep relationship issues under the rug, no ignoring potential issues. You need to talk about things, get things off your chest and do so without power plays—relationships are a two-way street; it does take two to tango, right. Similar energy was in play from August 6 to September 28, 2007. The repeats typically take place once every two years; this period is an exception. Perhaps back then you met people with whom you were supposed to stay in touch, over the business of the year, it simply didn't happen. Over January-March 4, 2007 you have the opportunity to revisit those connections. Perhaps there were matters that weren't handled properly back then begging for resolution, which might take professional advice/assistance and the time to handle it all is by March 4.
As the year begins, a new element enters the equation: logic, paper work, seeking professional advice, speaking to a counselor, attorney, adjuster, etc. The first two weeks of the year are intense, it is easier to get into arguments as we 'fight' for what is just and fair. On December 18 when Jupiter moved into Capricorn (Mercury and Sun followed by the 21 st ) we all got a glimpse of what direction we need to take. Granted most of us became aware that it will take time, patience and working toward our goals patiently and methodically.
Money and career matters are important to you this year. Pluto of change and transformation enters the area of your chart associated with money and personal income/resources and assets for a preview January 25-June 13, and then returns for a 14-year stay in November 2008. You know what needs to change, but not quite what to do about it. Periodically the changes may feel daunting, but note that we are talking about a rather long cycle. Big business within realistic bounds is possible; you could be making more money than you imagined. You might also realize that money doesn't buy the things that make you happy. The potentialities are many; perhaps you choose to begin a minimalist lifestyle—back to basics. Every year when many planets are in Capricorn (Dec 21-Jan 20), people seem to do a big purge around their homes—in with the new at Christmas and out with the old after Boxing Day. When the planet known for its ability to eliminate, to make redundant moves in Capricorn (see dates above) purging things and people, who have outlived their usefulness can become a strong theme. During 2008, Jupiter of abundance is in Capricorn with Pluto and the year could have a binge-purge element. The biggest change is likely to be your personal priorities and learning to appreciate yourself differently.
Saturn moved into your career sector back in September. This implies that you can reap rewards from your past efforts, what did you begin back in 2004? Now you need to follow through with the initiated plans and work within rules and regulations. Hone your skills and do the work, which at times is going to feel extremely labourious. Parents and other similar authority figures are prominently in the picture. This spells extra obligations and responsibilities. Maybe you are working without the support structures you used to have. You may need to become more involved in the affairs of a family member, particularly parents.
This year the Mercury cycle is in the element of air, as in 2001-02. For you, these cycles influence relating at a variety of levels. The emotional theme of 2006-07 gives way to handling matters more rationally. This approach 'feels' more comfortable to you. It is also a year of new ideas and we can have a delightful time playing out those 'what if' and 'why not' scenarios.
Your daily routines are in for changes while Mercury is in Aquarius (Jan 7 - March 14). In mid-January, ensure that your vehicle and any electronic tools get proper maintenance. Check the spare in the trunk. Give the computer a thorough work through etc. Pay attention in traffic (no speeding); there will be tougher enforcement of traffic laws in the coming year. The people associated with this period are siblings, neighbours, cousins and the people in your daily life. Double-check all written missives; during the retrograde period (dates listed below) avoid signing contracts that were not pre-planned. Keep receipts and documents organized, as this can be the return season for you. Buying a car or any major item equipped with wiring might no be a good idea—at least consider purchasing extended warranty.
Around January's Full Moon (January 22), logic leaves the equation (repeats a week before Valentine's Day). Pay extra attention to how you communicate, read any emails, correspondence and the like with care before sending them out.
May 2 - July 10 is a period during which partnerships are in for rejuvenation. Talk honestly and openly, clear the air and find a balance within your most important relationship. During this time more people may enter your life, the social aspects are strong for you this year, and particularly during this period. During this time, we are more likely to meet new people with whom we might enter into partnership for both business and pleasure. During the retrograde period is best not to sign any unplanned contracts/agreements. Old offers may come back for reconsideration, in the interim you may have moved on, and no longer want this. During May avoid making promises you cannot keep, you might be feeling exceptionally over-confident; could be a great month for profitable sales pitches.
In June, Venus becomes an Evening Star; she is brilliant in the sky shortly after sunset. This takes place in the same place as the rare occultation of June 2004. The stellar event is placed in the relationship sector for Sagittarius, which tends to mean that something very special takes place in your life—enjoy. Do I hear wedding bells or perhaps a contract; maybe your dream job is being offered to you?
In September, we have some incredible alignments in the stars—for you this might spell more income, more rewards and generally speaking you have much to gain. If there is a proposal on the table for that month (or late August), you might want to consider it seriously. September is a spectacular month for relationships; the people for Sagittarius are friends, colleagues and your relationship with your pay cheque. This could bring news of babies, grandchildren and perhaps better compensation for your contribution at work/business or even a lottery win.
Aug 28 - Nov 4, you need to learn to rationalize your goals and ideals differently. You may conclude that you are not being paid what you know you are worth. During this time dealings with colleagues, friends and adopted children (children from a previous relationship) can become more important; there tend to be issues that require a different approach. Remember that truth is a highly subjective experience. During the retrograde period (dates listed below) you may need to deal with delays with communication, having to do extra follow through and naturally, miscommunications are a significant theme for you. Think twice, before making important statements.

Ideas for making money, building future security and maybe venturing onto foreign ground—both figuratively or literally—are major themes for the next 14 years. You are a realist with money, and this year in particular, the stars support your hard work with rewards in direct relation to effort. The big theme for the year is relating; learning to express your thoughts and feelings with clarity, while learning to relate in a new way with familiar people (baby sister/daughter is a grown woman, etc.). Early part of year challenges your communication style the most, listen with care.
