Taurus Horoscope 2006

Year Ahead

Taurus April 19-May 20

Mars in Taurus in Sun sign and Fixed Cross 1, 4, 7, 10

Mars has spent over four months in your Sun sign, started July 2005 and continues until February 17. Mars is associated with our actions, energy, anger, motivation and drive. October through early December Mars was moving backwards, which made this energy feel even more personal. Your energy levels have likely fluctuated from fatigue to extreme energy. You may have felt driven to accomplish personal goals and at times totally bored with anything humdrum. It may have not changed you, but it has brought you into a new awareness of wanting things to change so that you can feel enthusiastic and excited about life with all its twists and turns. (More about this in last year's column)

Jupiter of excesses bearing the moniker of MORE moved into the house of relationships at the end of October 2005 and to add to this squeeze Saturn has settled into your fourth house of home (it's supposed to be your castle!) for a two-year stint. Neptune the 'dissolver' is in the tenth house of career and your efforts out there in the big world-your reputation. Throughout 2006, the four planetary energies ebb and flow into and out of your life, eventually manifesting in a changed set of circumstances. To move or not to move, to fix or not to fix, to find a new job or to stay with what you know is solid. Many questions to ponder, the progress is slow and steady, so when you do make up your mind there is no turning back. In the meantime, many new people enter into your life revealing different kinds of potential.

North Node in 12-6 shifts to 11-5

North Node will spend the first half of the year in your solar twelfth house, which can mean spending time alone pondering the meaning and purpose of life. You could be in a crowd yet feel alone. During the first half of the year, it is important that you pay attention to your physical well-being. Ultimately we are each responsible for looking after our bodies, proper nutrition, rest and exercise are all vital to the maintenance of our bodies. This house has many names and associations. One of the first is that it is the house of self-undoing. When planets occupy this space, we are looking at periods of isolation (sometimes self-imposed). We get to deal with our fears, doubts and insecurities. Our dreams are particularly vivid during these times. Dreams are messages from our unconscious mind that are intended to help us understand and cope with life better. During this time, our vitality can be low, so pay particular attention to diet and ensure adequate sleep-our bodies need both. During this time (since late 2004), you may also discover talents and skills you did not realize you had.

During the second half of the year and throughout 2007, the Nodes occupy the 11 th and 5 th house axis in your solar chart. This axis is linked to love received and given, to children and long-term aspirations. With Pluto already in your 8 th solar house since the mid-90's there is a strong need to make plans for the future, for retirement, investments and to determine where you'd prefer to spend your twilight years. This may seem odd if you are young more natural if you are older. This is a natural relationship pairing, affecting areas of your life naturally linked to matters of the heart, i.e.; people we choose to have in our lives. Thus, some of your most intimate relationships with lovers, children and close friends are likely to change.

New Venus in the 9 th house

Venus moved into the ninth house of your solar chart in November 2005 and will stay there until April. This is the area of your solar chart, which is associated with travel, higher learning, philosophy, law and in-laws. The gist of this influence is to make you evaluate whether you are happy with one or more of these matters in your life. Do you yearn for stronger convictions, for distant lands and is your faith feeding your soul. This influence may nudge you to investigate philosophy and religion, to broaden your horizons or to seek to reconnect with relatives you have not seen in years.

This year begins with Venus retrograde in Capricorn. It has been so since Christmas Day and continues until February 3. As I mentioned in last year's column this repeats from 1997-98 and 1989-90. Each of the five Venus cycles is akin to the hundred-year sleep in fairy tales. When the cycle connects with our charts, we have profound revelations and changes in our lives. During these Venus times, we have weeks on end to ponder whether we are happy and content with an area of our lives.

Capricorn is a sign of tradition and likes it when things are done in a manner society expects. If you ask for something you need to finish off with please; when you get something you say thank you and if you made a 'blunder' you immediately say excuse me. A little simplified, but just to illustrate the point. Capricorn can be the scorekeeper of the Zodiac, merits and demerits each get a column. In terms of the pearly gates, we are told that Saint Peter will be on hand to check over our accomplishments and shortcomings. More about Venus in the annual write-up.

Mercury Rx in the relationship houses

The Mercury cycles are in water and repeat from, 2000-01. We had the ideations of Air, the pragmatic work of Earth, the inspiration of Fire and now with Water, we get to look at how it makes us feel. No matter how great an idea, unless we feel emotionally comfortable with it, we cannot act on it. Our world functions on 'facts and figures', logic and practical action. Now we are asked to explore a side of our innate nature that does not seem to fit well into the equation-the function of Mercury to do deductive reasoning. Are you comfortable with how life is flowing in these areas? What is it we need to eliminate from our thinking, and daily routines?

The Mercury cycles take place in the relationship houses of your solar chart. From early February until April Mercury takes up residency in your 11 th house of future aspirations. In this area, astrologically speaking, we also find colleagues, friends and acquaintances. So on one hand it is about discovering and contemplating what you would like your future to be-and what types of rewards you seek for your worldly efforts. (Note the lunar node cycle emphasizes the same theme starting in June). On the other hand, you may find yourself faced with 'lessons' through your encounters with friends and colleagues. Remember that words once they hit the airwaves are difficult to retract.

In July-August Mercury takes a tour of your solar house associated with siblings, travel, daily environment and dealings with people in our daily lives. Are you happy with your daily routines? Have you managed to accumulate too many tasks with little time to call your own? During this time, it's a good idea to pay extra attention to how you are 'filing' receipts, documents and perhaps schedule a computer clean up day for June. Your vehicle is another matter you might want to put on your 'to-do' list. Get a tune up, check up, perhaps the brakes are squealing.make sure it is in good knick. Also make a special note to keep closer tabs on wallets, laptops, cell phones, i.e. all those portable things we have to haul around nowadays. It's easy to lose these now or have them 'stolen' from you. So lock it up or stow it somewhere safe.

In the course October-November Mercury visits your solar house of relationships-relationships with spouse, lawyer, associate, partner, and all of the people in our lives collectively. During this time, it's important to listen to others with care and empathy. It's a great time to bond at a deeper level. Note communication issues may be pronounced during this time; sometimes we do not translate our thoughts into the words. This is a time, when it is best to avoid signing any contracts, your reasoning may not be sound or there could be problems with the actual paperwork. Read more about the Mercury cycle and the Rx periods in the annual write-up.
