The significant shifts in planetary energy began during the past four months, and we have many more to come. 2007 was a challenging year for many of us. When long cycles reach the final degrees in a sign, we feel a sense of urgency to complete EVERYTHING on our list. This naturally isn't doable, no matter how much we would like to conclude everything. In the last six-seven weeks of 2007, most of us became too busy to attend to everything, and that, which entered our lives since September, was emotional in nature and now we needed to learn practical ways of handling issues. In astrology, there are short cycles and extremely long ones—many are changing now, and the more changes we have in the stars the more changes we will have in our lives. Is it a curse or a blessing, when we are wished: "may you live in interesting times"?
Since September 2007, we have all felt 'stuck' somehow. Our experiences are all unique and different. Some of the potential events and issues, including dealing with family members and housing related issues more. Perhaps we have needed to rely on assistance more than we are accustomed. Organizing a trip, procuring insurance, dealing with an insurance claim or the loss of a family member are some of the issues that figure prominently now. Some of us are luckier, and we have only had to deal with the furnace seizing up on us, the hot water heater that no longer works, the washer and dryer, the fridge—anything that has a motor and deals with water.
Mars is retrograde in Gemini as the New Year begins. It is regressing (going back in time…) in the area of your chart associated with money, assets, priorities and precious time… Have you taken on too many things? Did you over commit your resources, spend too much money? When planets move against the norm, the issues they represent are 'in our face'. This means we can no longer sweep financial matters under the rug, no ignoring potential issues. You need to talk about things, get advice and discuss our plans with partners without power plays. Similar energy was in play from August 6 to September 28, 2007. The repeats typically take place once every two years; this period is an exception. Perhaps back then you felt that you can readily afford it, surely can make time for it and no, you don't mind working that hard. Much of those things fell by the wayside; you didn't have the time and resources after all. January-March 4, 2007 you have the opportunity to revisit those issues and tackle them differently. In the interim, you also discovered what you no longer wish to do and now you will further recall that our time is limited and the days still only have 24 hours, and we need a bulk of that for sleep.
Then from March 4 until May 9, you will be able to redesign your daily schedule so that you have time for all that you desire the most. This is a busy period, during which you may need to think about transportation (maybe a new car: hybrid?) and perhaps you will be contemplating working from home rather than face that horrendous morning/evening commute and the 'wasted' time.
As the year begins, a new element enters the equation: logic, paper work, seeking professional advice, speaking to a counselor, attorney, adjuster, etc. The first two weeks of the year are intense, it is easier to get into arguments as we 'fight' for what is just and fair. On December 18 when Jupiter moved into Capricorn (Mercury and Sun followed by the 21 st ) we all got a glimpse of what direction we need to take. Granted most of us became aware that it will take time, patience and working toward our goals patiently and methodically.
Pluto of change and transformation enters the area of your chart associated with travel, philosophy, convictions, publishing, religion and all things 'foreign' for a preview January 25-June 13, and then returns for a 14-year stay in November 2008. You might not know what needs to change, but do know that there is more to life than meets the eye. During the past 12 years, Pluto in Sagittarius changed our collective view. On the financial and political front the European Union became a major player, Harry Potter was a major phenomena bring magic into our lives, during the same period, many new philosophical concepts entered our collective consciousness and the Law and Order series dominated our TV screens. Now your personal worldview is about to change. You may want to go back to University or similar to acquire the education, credentials you feel you should have. You might take up studies in philosophy, religion; learn about foreign concepts and cultures—maybe even more to live somewhere completely different to what you are used to up until now. Periodically the changes may feel daunting, but note that we are talking about a rather long cycle.
Every year when many planets are in Capricorn (Dec 21-Jan 20), people seem to do a big purge around their homes—in with the new at Christmas and out with the old after Boxing Day. When the planet known for its ability to eliminate, to make redundant moves in Capricorn (see dates above) purging things and people, who have outlived their usefulness can become a strong theme. Some of the people for Taurus include in-laws and teachers, which mean that you could be making dramatic changes on that front. Learn from someone new, and have less or more to do with in-laws, hash out differences and learn to live and let live. During 2008, Jupiter of abundance is in Capricorn with Pluto and the year could bring many foreign people and concepts into your life. You might travel more than you planned, learn a new language or begin teaching something.
Saturn moved into your romance, creativity and children sector back in September. This implies that you may have more obligations, responsibilities and might need to work harder at your relationships with people, who hold a special place in your heart.
What did you begin back in 2004 that were related to your personal income/finances? Now you need to follow through with the initiated plans and work within rules and regulations. At times, it is going to feel extremely labourious. Maybe you are working without the support structures you used to have; did your partner retire or is he/she staying at home looking after something new/different. In short, you have new financial obligations.
This year the Mercury cycle is in the element of air, as in 2001-02. For you, these cycles influence relating at a variety of levels. The emotional theme of 2006-07 gives way to handling matters more rationally. This approach 'feels' more comfortable to you. It is also a year of new ideas and we can have a delightful time playing out those 'what if' and 'why not' scenarios.
This year Mercury is in your sign a mere 15 days (Apr 17, 2008- May 2, 2008) but spends about 204 days in signs associated with work and money. This naturally means 2008 is a year you can get ahead in practical matters. You need to tackle issues with logic and be rational. The beauty is that You do think about these matters this way, rather naturally. During the retrograde periods (dates below) pay extra attention to expenses, income and all documentation related to money.
During the time Mercury is in Aquarius (Jan 7 - March 14) career matters, dealings with the boss, parent and similar authority figures are 'front and centre'. What perfect energy, if you need to plan your business activities for the year. If filing tax returns and similar important documents, falls during this period for you, make sure, you are not taking any (illegal) short cuts or fabricating receipts/expenses, etc. This is a wonderful time to figure out new ways of handling issues. Do present your ideas rather than vent to someone who cannot put your innovative (timesaving, more efficient) ideations to good use. During the retrograde period (dates below), pay extra attention to details, correct wording and be patient when discussing issues with superiors and/or those who pay for your services.
From May 2 to July 10, Mercury is in Gemini, which for you is associated with money, time and resources. During May, you may throw caution to the wind and 'spend, spend, spend'. Keep receipts safe, as you are more likely to change your mind about those recent acquisitions at the end of the month and in early June. During this time, you are more likely to come up with new ideas for making money (as well as things to spend it on). It is all too easy, to take on more than you can comfortably handle now. Try to choose wisely, before putting your hand up to 'volunteer'. Perhaps you need to solicit help and advice from family prior to making new commitments.
Mercury is in Libra Aug 28 - Nov 4. This for you brings on a busy time with work, chores and extra tasks to add to your already full schedule. Seek advice, learn how to delegate better and maybe you could make your space—the one where you spend the bulk of those daylight hours—more harmonious, pleasing, etc., perhaps you should play nice music and de-clutter your surroundings. Your advice is a hot commodity now. You might be called to mediate, negotiate or perhaps be put in charge of co-workers, head the committee, etc. If it's been ages since you visited your physician, dentist, etc., now might be the perfect time to rectify that oversight. In good health?—are you getting enough exercise, vitamins, rest…
September has some spectacular planetary alignments, which for Taurus are associated with work and co-workers. This could spell promotion, a new title and/or recognition for your efforts.

Romantic relationships, affairs of children and creative endeavours require extra effort on your part this year. It could be a great year to turn a hobby into a career. 2008 begins a 14-year period, during which your convictions and worldview will change. You may find yourself questioning your beliefs, faith and may need to deal with legal issues. Travel is more likely this year, and your family may grow—new in-laws perhaps. Early January, keep a close eye on wallet, bank account and other money related transactions.
