The dates for Sun changing signs in 2008 are listed below.

May 14-20, 2008

This week's column is penned by my colleague and friend, professional astrologer Janice Brown. I will write the following week's column once again. I am adjusting to some changes in how I work from here on out, and need to take it easier for a little bit.

This week begins with a question mark of doubt and a little nail-biting uncertainty. Questioning our path is never easy, but the late day Libran Moon, that stays in play until Saturday, wants to play by the rules and just get along. This feeling of too many unknowns melts away under the kind hand of Venus touching us with prosperity and enticing pleasures, asking us to live what we love, no matter how unique. This positive boost excites with inspiration to explore uncharted territory with an ‘if it feels good – it must be right' attitude.

At the Full Moon in Scorpio on Monday (complete with natural undercurrents and several other astro-triggers) – either hiding out or exploding may seem reasonable. As you tiptoe through sensitivity, try to stay equally concerned about protecting what already exists and being alert to new doors opening. Ask: is it real or just a passing feeling?

The Moon's switch to fiery Sagittarius in the evening can be the match to the kindling where suppression is thrown over like the fruit cart in the marketplace in a bad B movie. Try stepping up to a higher philosophy, one that contains humour and forgiveness. Find some fun. Disruption is really just a signal of changes ahead.

The Sun moves into Gemini on Tuesday, joining brainwave Mercury already reaching out and bringing together brilliant plots. The power is in the details, making connections through gathering data and opinions, and this is enhanced by Gemini inquisitiveness. This boost of energy to our multi-level schemes is not without duality, naturally. Choices are inevitable – fully understanding that once choice is made, options disappear.

Horoscopes for this Week -- published on Wednesdays

Aries March 20 -April 19

Abundance and love seem a sure thing but misunderstandings do erupt sometimes and it's always a good idea to stay clear on job description and understand where your loyalties really lay. You like to spread good fortune around but naturally expect to have the favour returned. At the weekend, generosity flows around you like a magic cape but may bring disappointment Monday. Stay even, Aries, times are too progressive now to be swayed by moods. And you do know that love (however exciting!) and money don't mix. Communicate Tuesday: fresh energy fills your mind with creative ideas and your soul revs for adventure.

Taurus April 19-May 20

The twin issues of home and $$$ revolve around each other ceaselessly with too much mystery on solving them. Sunday brings prosperous displays and expansive feelings. Showing love and positive counsel can be taken too far, however. Monday can get out of hand trying to patch up, or hold up others. Enough is enough, you say, especially if you feel pushed off your personal goal track. A new energy enters Tuesday. Talk about financial plans, glamorize your home; organize children in their work. That's the road to long term satisfaction now. Celebrate nature.

Gemini May 20-June 20

Your inner heart is engaged in deep thought. You're active, socially thriving and maybe difficult to pin down, but happy. The weekend is a real mix. There are deeply personal rewards, spiritually moving connections in relationships reminding you how stable love with commitment can be. On the physical plane, career excitement, financial partnerships, mortgages, give secure feelings. Monday's misunderstanding vibe has deep emotions but the best way to overcome a block is to bring it out into the open. By Tuesday, when the Sun enters your sign, you start to ring with energy. Now your story gets to be told – go tell it!

Cancer June 20-July 22

Agitation quickly dispels under wonderful support from partners and friends. Love blooms and shows from gifts, encouragement. Much information can be gained through reading, but stay selective. If concepts are jarring, put them away for another time. It is relationships bringing rewards now. Things get emotional at the Full Moon on Monday. If you get warning signals that the party's getting over excited, enjoy as long as it's fun and then bow out. Curiosity then becomes the name of the game. You want all of the behind-the-scenes information from medical to money moving. Be your own investigator.

Leo July 22-Aug. 22

Despite unknowns with partners early this week, Mars in your sign, Leo, gives a mighty push to get going. You see success beckoning – it's off to the races! Set up schedules, burn through paperwork and juggle commutes. Share laugh and enjoy the fruits of your labour. A lavish occasion, appreciating the beauty in relationships, brings great rewards. Take heart. You will now connect with groups or associates that match the fast pace. Home and kids gets overheated Monday and you could lose your cool trying to reach understanding, especially if it infringes onto your reputation. Forget matching wits: be a friend.

Virgo Aug. 22-Sept. 22

If the everyday scene isn't as idealized, or health is sluggish, don't overlook the larger picture. It's the gifts of life, talents and abilities to research and organize that are success points now. Sometimes the greatest understanding is to stand back and let life feed us. Hold events that celebrate children, fuss over anniversaries, and recognize how nature nurtures everything. Yes, two career tracks are complicated and the Monday energy cyclone points out how it can conflict with other duties. Stay cool but know this: you need to adapt to the new and upcoming busier times to find your bliss.

Libra Sept. 22-Oct. 23

With the Moon traveling through your sign from late Wednesday until early Saturday you can focus on the issues in your life. See where compromises can be made, and work on resolving uncertainty in long-term finances, or affairs of the heart. Set Sunday as a goal and then plan a celebration where your natural generosity can be displayed. You do know how to entertain and guests will be most appreciative. Monday's misunderstandings likely involve funds and only you know what is truly fair. Step back and think. Freedom to pursue your many interests now is paramount, is it not?

Scorpio Oct. 23 – Nov. 20

Being pushed to the front of the line brings lots of attention but doesn't resolve the questions on managing the home front or partners. Yes, it brings material rewards, even commendations, plus the pleasures of being admired for your capabilities, especially Sunday. With the full Moon Monday in your sign there is a cautionary. Overdoing, not knowing when to quit, can deplete energy to dangerous degrees when small things become huge annoyances. You may wonder why you started. The best rewards come from connections made, and insights gained. Apply your mind to long-term finances and recording brilliant realizations.

Sagittarius Nov. 21-Dec. 21

Mixed messages regarding work is not news, Sag, and wanted them to be ideal is rarely practical. For medical issues, do seek assistance. Spend the week socializing with partners, present or future and communicate ideas. Your thinking is a bit ahead of it's time but don't worry, the world will catch up. By Sunday you're inspired and there may be a bonus for a job well done, enjoy yourself. After soul-searching Monday, there will be a lot more freedom of action, travel and/or learning a new skill set as the Sun enters Gemini on Tuesday. Consider options with an open mind.

Capricorn Dec. 21-Jan. 19

Love and pleasures can be expensive. This week brims with generosity and giving, and the tab at the end of the meal. It's a fine time to take in theatres or attend children's concerts and relish pomp and circumstance. Gestures of love can take many forms and by Sunday you will feel enriched by the experience. Monday's full Moon can throw emotions over the top especially if you feel deceived or regretful. These are passing emotions. Search them for truth then put them away, lessons learned. New research chapters open Tuesday, requiring due diligence to enhance accelerated learning. Get involved.

Aquarius Jan. 20 - Feb. 18

Uneasiness on the security or family front goes hand in hand with the rockin' social life available now. You know you are committed to building a solid foundation so relax and enjoy the flashes. There's a powerhouse of energy now moved into your relationships area. It is actually your relationship with the public; other people. It requires a new level of leadership and lasts through June. Dynamic people enter your life. Enjoy Sunday, visit with family, or reward yourself for the wisdom you have shown. Avoid temper tantrums Monday and remember the genius you truly are.

Pisces Feb. 19 - March 20

Focusing on the ideal way your mind should work isn't the solution. Sometimes it should drift to that creative centre first, like a painter with a picture in mind before he starts to paint. Juggling myriad household or family affairs becomes easier with short walks or re-calling original motivation for getting so busy. Major players like your style. Join groups of interest, or expect offers regarding writing, technical advising, design or landscaping. Socialize on Sunday; there is much love and appreciation in the air. Full Moon energy Monday drains emotional reserves and the next challenging month begins Tuesday. Good luck!

The Sun Sign change dates

The Sun changes signs at slightly different times each year. This year the Sun moves into Pisces on February 18 at 5:32 AM PST and in 1950, the Sun moved to Pisces February 18 at 9:18 PM PST. So babies born on this date in 2005 year after 5:32 AM have the Sun in Pisces, but in 1950 babies born until 9:18 PM the same day had Sun in Aquarius, provided both were born in our time zone. I have changed the dates below to reflect the fact that you could be either on the dates the Sun changes sign.

The dates will vary for those born in Australia or UK for example. The Sun moves into Aquarius at 3:21 PM PST (15:21) on January 19, 2005. We are 8 hours behind GMT thus in Britain it would be 23:21 PM on the 19th and for Australia's east coast we would have to add 19 hours to the Pacific time which makes it the 20th at 10:21 AM. Therefore, it also depends on where you were born.

Void of Course Moon

Every two and a half days Moon changes from one zodiacal sign to another. In her routine travels she forms aspects with other planets, but after tha last aspect prior to changing sign she is considered void of course. Aspects are communication lines, while Moon is not making these connections with other planets she is dancing to her own tune, receiving no advise, no objections, merely seeking her own counsel. Things started while the Moon is void of course tend not to amount to much. The best use of this time is to think of it as time out. Goof off, work on routine chores, don't arrange meetings etc. as these tend to get rescheduled anyway. Things we buy during these times which can last for up to two days oir as little as minute or two tend to end up taking space, and they were simply purchased on a whim not to serve a purpose. I used to take my older vehicles through air care when the Moon was void, I figured that as the gist is - nothing will come of it - the clonkers would squeek by air care no problem - and they did. See the extended listing.

I spent a fair bit of time job hunting in the mid-nineties, all the interview times that were offered or conducted during Moon Void of Course times came to nothing. The interviews went great, wonderful conversations and good learning tool for the next one. I have an article on the site about the Moon and the Void of Course Moon.

The dates for the horoscopes vary between different sources. The word cusp became popular to describe this fact. However, the Sun does move about with precision, by knowing the time, date and location we can calculate where the Sun is with precision. You can have two people born on the same date and one is a Capricorn Sun and the other an Aquarius. Where you were born is important. There is a free chart calculator at the bottom of the order reports page. You need to know the date, time and city/town of birth.
