I will talk about the planetary alignments for the year and what these mean for us collectively and individually at the Fraser Valley Astrological Guild. The talk will be on January 10, 2008 starting at 7:30PM. The address is 201-317 Columbia Street, New Westminster.
2008 is a year of ideas, concrete changes and naturally a new set of challenges and opportunities ahead of us. Pluto moves into Capricorn in January following Jupiter already residing in the sign of big business, corporations and structures, Mars is retrograde as the year begins, Saturn recently moved into Virgo, the Mercury cycle shifts to the masculine elements this year, and the needle of the compass now points to Aquarius…The degrees from 21-24, and the first degrees of cardinal signs are particularly active.

This seminar will be presented for the Tampere Astrological Association in Finland. I am currently working on my next book Mercury—Celestial Billiards. My book on Venus, Her Cycles, Symbols and Myths was published by Llewellyn in October 2006. You can find a copy at most bookstores and I have a limited quantity of signed copies available. Ulkoplaneetat eivät ole kiinnostuneita arkielämästämme—niistä tavallisista tapahtumista joista elämämme koostuu. Merkurius on arkielämän arkkitehti, joka vuosi hän korostaa kolmea yhteenliittyvää elämän osaa ja vaatii, että muutamme ajatteluamme. Olemme oppineet ajattelemaan, että kun Merkurius perääntyy, ei voi allekirjoittaa papereita, aloittaa uusia projekteja, jne. Merkuriuksella on myös kahdeksan vaihetta kuten Kuulla, mutta ne eivät ole näkyviä samoin kuin ison Kuun vaiheiden muutos. Tässä seminaarissa keskitymme tutkimaan Merkuriuksen 7 vuoden sykliä, sen muodostamaa geometriaa ja ennustamaan vuoden isoja teemoja arkielämässä. Jokainen päätöshän muuttaa elämänpolun suuntaa...

The Finnish Astrological Association is holding their Annual Summer Days in Lahti Finland, I will be presenting a lecture on Venus on Saturday, a seminar on Venus on Sunday and a workshop on the Monday.

Venus perääntyy heinäkuun lopusta Syyskuun alkuun. Uusi Venus leijonan merkissä Elokuun 17 aloittaa kahdeksan vuoden pitkän taipaleen, jonka aikana inspiraatio luoda jotain tuoretta ja innostavaa muodostaa tärkeän osan elämäämme. Venuksen kysymys näiden 40 päivän aikana on, rakastatko kuinka asiat auringon hallitsemassa huoneessa ovat muotautuneet viimeisen kahdeksan vuoden aikana. Tämä luento keskittyy Venuksen tulimerkkeihin 8 vuoden välein—Oinas (2001)2009 ja Leijona (1999, 2007)... "Kynttilä ei menetä voimaansa eikä valoaan sytyttäessään toisen kynttilän".
Esittäjä Anne Massey on suomalaissyntyinen, Kadanalainen ammattiastrologi. Hänen kirjansa, Venus, ilmestyi lokakuussa 2006. Helmikuun Astrologoksestä löytyy haastattelu ja kirja esitys.
Sunnuntain pienryhmän puitteissa syvennämme keskustelua lauantain luennon esittämistä käsitteistä, keskustelemme Venuksen ja sen syklin symboliikasta. Venuksen kiertokulku piirtää viisikon astrologiselle kartalla, 72 asteen välein. Leijonaa seuraa Oinas (2009) Oinasta Skorpioni (2010), Skorpionia Kaksoset (2012), Kaksosia seuraa Kauris (2013), Kaurista taas Leijona (2019). Viisi huonetta ja niiden sisältävät konseptit heräytyvät pohtimaan kysymystä—rakastanko tätä elämäni osaa. Samoin kuin tänä vuonna, Venus perääntyi myös leijonan merkissä 1999 loppukesänä. Venuksen vaiheet kestävät kauemmin kuin nopeasti liikkuvan Kuun, uusi vaihe alkoi 17. Elokuuta, täysi Venus on Leijonan merkeissä neljä vuotta myöhemmin (2011). Venus ei ole vain kolmen viikon transiitti…
Maanatain 'workshopissa' syvennämme keskustelemme Venuksen viidestä merkistä ja kuinka Venuksen syklit systemaattisesti muuttavat elämäämme. Tutkimme myös mitä Venus jaksot kahdeksan vuoden välein samassa merkissä ja liki samassa asteessa tuovat elämäämme.Venuksen geometrinen kierto on erittäin avullinen ennustustyössä. Osa sykleistä on henkilökohtaisia, kun Venuksen asteet laativat aspekteja omalla kartalla ei voi asioita enään lakaista maton alle. Tuo oma karttasi, jotta voimme syventyä ennustustekniikkaan. My biggest event in 2006 was the publication of my book—Venus: Her Cycles, Symbols and Myths—in October 2006. The book was published by Llewellyn.
The CAAE hosted a Wine and Cheese party in conjunction with the SOTA conference. On that day we have a Full Venus in the sky, what a perfect time it was to sign copies of my book for attendees at the conference

I haven't signed up for any conference this year yet. I wont be able to go to the PHASE conclave in July-August 2007, but I recommend it for anyone seriously interested in astrology and its rich history. I am lecturing in Europe this August, and two long trips back to back are impossible to fit into my hectic schedule.
I believe it is important that astrology teachers update their own skills by learning new information. I was fortunate in being able to attend the PHASE Conclave in Baltimore Maryland August 14-21, 2006. I went there as a student to learn more about classical astrology so that I can have more to teach to my students and more tools to help my clients.
In addition, I attend all lectures and talks at the Guild and try to make it to at least one major event a year. Below are workshops and talks I will be presenting in addition to my regular classes.

"When we fall in love it can seem a lot like mental illness—a blend of mania, dementia and obsession that could almost be mistaken for psychosis. Now neuroscientists have produced brain-scan images of this fevered activity. Researchers argue that romantic love is a biological urge distinct from sexual arousal; asserting that it is closer in its neural profile to drives such as hunger, thirst or drug craving than to emotional states like excitement or affection." Venus has two distinct sides—romantic love and sexual passion. When we fall under her charms, we forget our natural social barriers as the pheromones envelope us.
The annual updates and horoscopes are the bread and butter to most professional astrologers. With client work, we look at progressions, transits, solar returns, planetary returns to get to personal analysis. Why do we astrologers still read our annual horoscopes in the mainstream media? These give us the big picture for the year. Getting to the essence requires understanding the strongest indications.
2006 Canadian elections with Mars atop the chart when polls close is in Taurus; perhaps the one with the broadest shoulders secures the top spot. With Venus retrograde in Capricorn, we are not likely to see extra money in our pockets. Harper, the Taurus Sun, fits that bill. In order to prioritize the astrological data, the information needs to be structured; the outer planets, stations and the retrogradation of the inner planets become the focus. The latter part of 2007 brings in the biggest changes as Saturn moves into Virgo and Jupiter into Capricorn; we are laying the groundwork for the big shifts at the change of the decade. There is nothing as compelling as the planetary changes in our personal lives—the ebb and flow of life.
