Leo Relationships

July 23 to August 22

Ruler: Sun Body: Heart, spinal column, spleen, duodenum Element: Fire

Key Key phrase: I will - Keyword: Courage

There are three fire signs in the Zodiac (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius). Fire signs are action oriented, encouraging and inspired, and have an energetic "can do" approach to life. They have an inherent need to protect themselves from the inactivity, indifference or apathy these fiery individuals don't want to sit there and think about, wait to see how they feel nor do they like plodding through tedious steps to get there let's just do it is almost their motto.

Fire sign is like a short distance sprinter quick off the mark, there in no time and energy temporarily all spent. We hear this about Aries but all fire signs share this mode of operation. Leos may have more stamina and Sagittarius may be more happy go lucky about it, but like Aries they burn fast and furious, and keep boredom away.

Fire initiates endeavours, sparks the inspiration. Earth is the elemental force that helps give form and moulds to our visionary ideas. Air is the element we need to think and analyze, to formulate these ideas further. Water is the element we use to determine how what we have created makes us feel and how it can feed our needs.

Hollywood has taught us that when something sad happens such as a death or a loss, we need to weep uncontrollably and be incapable of rational action. We don't all feel this way. Each one of the fire signs has a different approach and as individuals we have each of these three fire signs in our make influencing three or more areas of our lives. (To identify the areas we need to know the particulars of birth such as the date of birth, the time of birth and the place of birth. Next we need to look at planets and theaspects that are formed. We also look at the houses, which represent areas of life, and how these are influenced by the zodiacal sign on the cusp of the house as well how the planet which rules the particular house is positioned.)

Leo is ...

Leo is a fixed sign set in his/her ways like Taurus. Change and adaptability aren't qualities a Leo embraces readily. Leo is gregarious, generous and exudes life and warmth. Aries fire burns quickly whereas the Leonine fire is like a bonfire or the fireplace on a cold winter's night. Physically it might be the body heat but they also exude a passion for life. Leo has an innate "regal" quality, and they will treat their chosen one like the king or the queen. All they desire is a few compliments and a little praise, well, sometimes a standing ovation. Leo is the performer, including the shy ones - they don't need a big audience, and one will do. Their art or performance is a gift. A little applause and you have your lion purring; and a happy cat is a grateful cat - you are rewarded with love and lavish attention. Leo is the sign that represents creativity, children and romance. Being courted by a Leo can make you feel like royalty. Most Leos love
children whether they have their own or not, but you'll find them naturally playful because they do like to entertain and to please. The creative side of Leo comes out in different ways. It isn't always the end product; sometimes Leo is content with simply being the Muse and basking in your recognition of their encouragement.

Leos can be patronizing in their efforts to be protective, (for your own good, of course) and they might even insist on too much applause when they are facing some of their own inner insecurities. The regality can come out as bossiness when they think they can always get their way. The Lion may need a little taming, but you'll love your pussycat.

To a Leo their abode/home is their castle no matter how humble it might be, for some Leos the creativity comes out in the work of beautifying their home, make it grander (bigger) worthy of being called a castle. Leos can be quite house-proud, not inviting guests over until the home is worthy of receiving guests. To a Leo the house or home is their private escape from the world where they perform, and when not grandly hosting, privacy is quite sacred to a Leo.

Mode: Fixed

The second modality is fixed. The fixed signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. Within each mode all of the elements are represented. Taurus is fixed earth, known for sustenance, follow through and it role as the provider. Taurus knows how to carry out the actions started by Aries, it does not mind the hard work it involves nor the time it
takes. In nature the little buds on crocus and daffodil may come out in April with the Sun in Aries but the blooming starts with Taurus. Leo represents fixed fire, all fixed signs are interested in maintaining status quo, and change is not that welcome. In terms of fire this might be the smoldering log in the fireplace that won't be extinguished. When the Sun is in Cancer our crops mature, but when the Sun gets into Leo it's time to get ready to harvest. Fixed signs cannot be pushed or cajoled to do anything they do not want to do, all of these signs stubborn, not just Taurus the first one in the sequence. Scorpio is the muddy, dark period when earth becomes dormant. Mother earth's surface takes a welcome rest in preparation for a fertile spring. Leaves fall of trees, grass wilts away and in the northern parts the earth prepares for a blanket of snow. The Sun in Aquarius follows the ambitious Capricorn phase, the Sun is in its fall in Aquarius, but if you have ever witnessed the brilliant sunshine in snow country in February he does not appear weak, the hours of daylight may be short but they are potent. In Finland February is called the pearl month, and I have always wondered if the glistening Sun on the cold snow banks is what got the month its name. All of the fixed signs have patience and staying power, they do not measure time in seconds or minutes but in years and decades, each one knows how to wait patiently.

The fun loving, entertaining Leo is more sensitive that we see on the surface, more in tune with emotions at times than even Cancer and often more of a homebody. When in love - they're loyal to the core. Some say too lazy to find someone new, but you know that with a domesticated cat all you have to do is feed it and pat it, and it'll curl up
beside you and contentedly purr. Who gets along with the King or Queen of the Zodiac best?

Who handles the intellectual conversationalist the best?

The combinations of signs are work in progress, and will be posted when I have written them. Relationship reports are available for ordering on-line, click here.

Leo/Aries

The two signs share the element of fire. The aspect that pairs these two is a trine (120 ), which is the most harmonious of all, making the connection between the two energies effortless. The theme of this relationship is stimulation. This is one of those classically good relationship combinations. (Caution: Remember we are eyeing the relationship through a peephole when using only one known qualifier.) However, in a typical situation we would also have several of the inner planets in a harmonious combo. For an Aries Leo represents a 5th house relationship. In the 5th we have romance,> creativity and it's the house of PLAY. Leo would motivate the Aries to do even bigger and greater things. For Leo Aries brings in a 9th house perspective. In the 9th we have philosophy, higher learning and things foreign. The Leo in this pairing would broaden his/her horizons, get perspective and be exposed to subjects and lands he/she might not otherwise explore.

Each relationship needs a spark of friction, to keep life interesting. The risk here is to fall into a comfortable rut, and ignore seeking exhilarating side of life.

When we are drawn to someone who shares our elemental make up, we are generally looking for kinship. We are looking for someone who understands our way of doing and thinking. The fact that our modes are different typically helps strengthen us where we are weak. There is less criticism in the relationship, how can you reasonably chastise someone who shares so many traits with you?

Enthusiasm for life is one of the shared traits. Both of you like to have fun and play. Aries is the spark that ignites and Leo has the stamina to keep the flame burning. If what you seek in a relationship are familiarity, excitement and going out on dates, then someone who shares your element is what might meet those needs. Are you drawn to someone who you feel will support your goals without reproach? Leo and Aries together form a buoyant, exciting and charismatic duo.

Leo/Taurus

The two of you share the same mode of operation, both of you are fixed and prefer to hold onto status quo. You are both equally stubborn, and strong. When people share the same mode, your manner of living and style has similarities. You may have a similar disposition and behaviour patterns that are alike. The similarities can also be a source of both passion and acrimony, sometimes it is a thin line. Leo is a fiery sign and Taurus is earthy, one is passionately inspired by life and all it has to offer and the other impassioned about things to have in life. Taurus is practical - loves the good life, and the luxuries of life, and knows how to get these, or strives very hard toward that goal. Leo loves the same things, but his/her approach toward the attainment is different, trivial, practical matters are not the way of the King/Queen. This is typically not coined as a compatible match, but they both do desire the same sort of things, not necessarily by the same means, and together this combo can attain all that their hearts desire.

All the Leo really needs is love and appreciation; the Taurus likes stability and does not mind being the provider, in fact it is a role Taurus often assumes. Leo, when appreciated, will likewise cater to his/her audience. Fixed signs when well balanced are quite the generous breed. For Taurus is home base, someone who feels comfortable and comforting despite the elemental differences. To the Taurus Leo represents status and career, and can be quite the boost-provider on that front, as well as somewhat an authority figure.

When we are drawn to someone who has a different elemental make-up to ours, we are looking for someone who will spur us to try new things, to be all we can be and to be challenged to be more. Typically in this type combo there is no ego-boosting, you have to learn to appreciate yourself. We have all heard the axiom, that unless you love yourself who else will. We all draw to ourselves people who enrich our lives, this relationship can cultivate not only your strengths but help you become stronger. Ready to aim higher? This might be the type of match to help you get there. Both signs make committed relationships readily, remember neither one of you likes sudden changes. The challenge can be the two strong wills, but the benefit is that you can rely on each other to see things through during challenging times.
