Sun conjunct Sceptrum, Orb: 0 deg 56 min
A firm, commanding, responsible and organized character is denoted. There may be a love of social hierarchies and the ceremonies and traditions associated with them. Education, knowledge and culture may be areas of interest. A prestigious public position may be attained. Theatrical, executive, governmental, architectural and oratory pursuits are favored.
Sceptrum is 53 Eridani in the constellation of Eridanus, the River. This star was included in the now defunct asterism of Sceptrum Brandenburgicum, created by German astronomer Gottfried Kirch to commemorate the Prussian province of Brandenburg in which he resided. This linear group of stars was imagined by Kirch to resemble a sceptre. A sceptre is a rod or staff held by a royal figure to denote their authority. The ancient Greeks, Persians and Egyptians granted these symbolic staffs to judges and priests as well as to kings. Later European monarchs also carried scepters as physical manifestations of their absolute dominion. Ascendancy, power and esteem may therefore by ascribed to the influence of this star.
The constellation of Eridanus is most commonly associated with the Greek tale of Phaeton, the son of a mortal woman and the Sun god Helios. Helios had sworn to grant his son one wish. Phaeton foolishly asked to drive Helios' Solar Chariot across the sky for one day. The god knew this was a bad idea, but he was bound by his promise, so he begrudgingly let Phaeton take the reins. Phaeton soon realized he could not control the celestial horses that drew the Chariot of the Sun. They ran wild, first galloping too close to the Earth and causing it to burn, then veering too far away, causing it to freeze. Phaeton's wild ride was finally ceased when Zeus shot him down with a thunderbolt and restored Helios to his proper place at the reins of the Chariot. The constellation of Eridanus is a long zig-zagging line of stars, and it is said to represent the haphazard path along which Phaeton careened in the Solar Chariot. In a slightly different interpretation of the tale, Eridanus represents the river in the Underworld into which Phaeton fell after being struck down by Zeus. Classical Greek writings suggest that this mythological river of the Underworld was also a real river on Earth. Writers like Hesiod and Herdotus asserted that Eridanos was a river in Northern Europe rich in amber. Scholars have since speculated about which river these writers were actually referring to, but no conclusions have been reached. The name Eridanos has also recently been adopted by geologists to describe a river that flowed from Lapland to the North Sea between 40 million and 700 thousand years ago. Another mythical figure associated with this constellation is Aquarius, the Water Bearer. The river Eridanus is sometimes identified as the water which flows from the Water Bearer's vessel. In Aquarius' role as catalyst of the Great Flood which drowned the Earth according to Ancient Near Eastern legend, Eridanus would in fact be the Great Flood itself. This event is an elemental cataclysm not unlike Phaeton's disastrous ride through the heavens. Of the nature of this constellation, Robson writes "According to Ptolemy, all the stars with the exception of Achernar are like Saturn. Eridanus gives a love of knowledge and science, much travel and many changes, a position of authority, but danger of accidents".

Mercury conjunct Al Hecka, Orb: 0 deg 56 min
Proactive, self-motivated, productive, stubborn and opinionated attributes are denoted. There may be a tendency towards aggression and antagonism. The individual likely possesses an abundance of energy which may be channeled towards either highly creative or destructive pursuits. Success in ones endeavors may be attained through stamina and force of will. According to Robson, "Hasty temper".
Al Hecka is Zeta Tauri in the constellation of Taurus, the Bull. Al Hecka is Arabic for "the Horn". This star designates the southern horn of the celestial Bull. According to Robson, Al Hecka is also sometimes referred to as "the Driver". This star was known in ancient Babylon as Shur-narkabti-sha-shutu, meaning "the Star in the Bull Towards the South". In China it was Tien Kwan, "the Heavenly Gate".
Of the influence of Al Hecka Robson states, "According to Ptolemy it is of the nature of Mars, but Alvidas suggests that of Mercury and Saturn conjoined. It gives violence, malevolence and danger of accidents". Allen notes that this star "has been considered of mischievous influence".
The constellation of Taurus represents a Bull. The association of this constellation with a bovine creature has a long history, probably originating in ancient Egypt. Allen states of Taurus; "It's stars were certainly made much of throughout Egyptian history and religion, not only from its then containing the vernal equinox, but from the belief that the human race was created when the Sun was here.". Cow and bull worship was common throughout the ancient world. The Solar Bull Deity of Cretan worship allegorized in Greek tales as a ferocious bull-headed man, the Minotaur, is hypothesized by some mythologists to be a form of the Phoenician deity Moloch. Moloch was portrayed as a man with the head of a bull. The Cretan and Phoenician concepts of the Solar Bull God may have originated in the Astrological Age of Taurus (hypothesized to have begun between 4525 BCE and 3814 BCE and ended between 2150 and 1658 BCE) under the guise of the Egyptian Solar Bull Apis, a god associated with agriculture and nourishment. Apis was said to be the soul (ka) of the god Osiris, the god of death and rebirth. Egyptian rulers sought to embody the life-sustaining attributes of the Sun and the Bull, characteristics deified as Apis (strength, fortitude and virility). Cows are also traditionally associated with the qualities of stability, patience, strength, dependability and stubbornness. The Egyptian goddess Hathor, who is traditionally depicted in the form of a cow or as a woman with bull horns atop her head, is the patroness of fertility, motherhood, earthly abundance, joy and celebration. Similarly, the Olympian goddess Hera, consort of Zeus (Jupiter) and Queen of the Gods, bore the epithet Bo-opis, or "Ox Eyed". In India the divine cow Nandi was recognized as the primary disciple, gatekeeper and mount of the god Shiva. Reverence for Nandi dates back to the Indus Valley Civilization. The Indians also venerate Kamadhenu, the mother of all cows, a benevolent deity said to have the power to grant any wish. Natives of Brazil's Amazon rainforest also perceived this constellation as a bull, calling the Hyades star cluster of Taurus Tapura Rayoaba, or "Jaw of an Ox".
Of the astrological influence of Taurus Robson quotes Ptolemy; "Those stars in Taurus which are in the abscission of the sign resemble in their temperament the influence of Venus, and in some degree that of Saturn. . . the stars in the head (except Aldebaran) resemble Saturn, and , partly, Mercury; and those at the top of the horns are like Mars.". Robson also relates that Taurus is associated with the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, Aleph, and the first Tarot Trump, "the Juggler" (also known as "the Fool").

Mercury conjunct Alnilam, Orb: 0 deg 24 min
Bold, confident, aggressive, opinionated and self-reliant attributes are denoted. There may be a love of freedom and adventure. Rebellious, defiant or iconoclastic traits may manifest. Athletic, combative and creative pursuits are favored. Public attention may be gained through ones actions. A sharp wit is possible. According to Robson, "Hasty, quick temper, quarrels with associates. . .".
Alnilam is Epsilon Orionis in the constellation of Orion, the Hunter. The name Alnilam comes from the Arabic Al Nitham, or "String of Pearls". This was an ancient term for the three stars which form Orion's Belt, among which this star is central. The three stars of Orion's belt have also been called "The Three Kings" in France and "The Golden Walnuts" in Arabia. In ancient Scandinavia they were known as "Frigga's Distaff".
Of the nature of Alnilam Robson claims, "According to Ptolemy it is of the nature of Jupiter and Saturn; and to Alvidas of Mercury and Saturn. It gives fleeting public honors.". Robson also states that the stars of Orion's belt "give strength, energy, industry, organizing abilities, notoriety, good fortune, lasting happiness, a sharp mind and good memory".
This constellation represents Orion, the legendary ancient Greek hunter. There are many divergent stories surrounding his character, but he was generally thought to have been a mighty and fearless hunter who was defeated by a giant scorpion, represented in the firmament by the constellation Scorpio. In some versions of the tale the deadly scorpion is dispatched by Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt. It has been suggested that the name Orion comes from the Akkadian Uru-anna, or "Light of Heaven". It is indeed one of the most strikingly recognizable constellations in the night sky. Interestingly, the Greeks were not the only star-gazers to attribute the form of a hunter to this constellation. In India it was named Vyadh, which also means "Hunter". The Seri people of Mexico perceived the constellation as a scene of hunters chasing their prey. The three stars of Orion's belt represented three different animals, Alnilam being Hap, a mule deer shot with an arrow.
In Babylon Orion was called the "Shepherd of Anu". Anu was a powerful deity known as the Lord of Heaven, and the ruler of all the gods, spirits and demons. In Aram, now known as Syria, Orion was named Nephila. Nephila was the progenitor of the Nephilim, a race of beings referred to in the Hebrew Bible. The Nephilim are described as angelic, or half angel half human, and as gigantic in statue. The Orion of Classical myth has similarly been described as a giant by the Roman poet Virgil and others.
Of the nature of Orion Robson states, "According to Ptolemy the bright stars with the exception of Betelgeuse and Bellatrix are like Jupiter and Saturn. It is said to give a strong and dignified nature, self-confidence, inconsistency, arrogance, violence, impiety, prosperity in trade and particularly by voyages or abroad. . . By the Kabalists it is associated with the Hebrew letter Aleph and the 1st Tarot Trump, the Juggler.".

Ambitious, focused, intelligent, exploratory and inquisitive attributes are denoted. The individual may excel in communication through speech or writing. Creative, intellectual and scientific pursuits are favored. A high level of success in ones chosen endeavor may be attained.
Alnitak is Zeta Orionis, the easternmost star in the Belt of Orion. The name Alnitak comes from the Arabic Al Nitaq, or "the Belt". The three stars of Orion's belt have also been called "The Three Kings" in France and "The Golden Walnuts" in Arabia. In ancient Scandinavia they were known as "Frigga's Distaff".

Mercury conjunct Meissa, Orb: 0 deg 09 min
Great intellectual and imaginative faculties are indicated. Courage, cunning, charisma, self-reliance, confidence, enthusiasm, tenacity, motivation and leadership abilities are also denoted. A strong desire for greater knowledge and the advancement of skill is likely. Challenges will be met directly and forcefully, leading to personal gain. There may also be a love of exploration and innovation.
Meissa is Lambda Orionis in the constellation of Orion, the Hunter. The name Meissa is derived from the Arabic Al Maisan, or "the Shining One". An alternate title for this star is Heka, derived from the Arabic Al Hak'ah, or "the White Spot". Meissa represents the head of Orion. It was known in ancient Arabia as Ras al Jauzah, "the Head of the Great One". It's influence my therefore relate to mental matters. Allen notes that Meissa was included in the Euphratean lunar asterism Mas-tab-ba-tur-tur, "the Little Twins". It was also a component of the Babylonian asterism Kakkab Sar, "the Constellation of the King". The themes associated with kingship; majesty, authority and responsibility; may also apply to the influence of this star. As Meissa contains the mind of Orion, the King signifies the decision making power of his people. In China this star is thought to represent the head of another noble creature. It is known as Si ma ts'ien, or "the Head of the Tiger". Tigers are symbolic in Chinese culture of strength, self-reliance, tenacity, forcefulness and courage. These qualities are also personified by the archetypal King associated with this star by the Babylonians as well as the Classical figure of the Great Hunter Orion .
Orion was a legendary hunter known for his strength, courage and skill. There are many divergent stories surrounding his character, but he was generally thought to have been defeated by a giant scorpion (the constellation Scorpio) which in some versions of the tale is dispatched by Artemis, goddess of the hunt. The Orion of Classical myth has similarly been described as a giant by the Roman poet Virgil and other Classical writers.
Meissa is included in the nakshatra, or Vedic Lunar Mansion, of Mrigashira. Mrigashira, meaning "the Deer's Head", is ruled by the Moon God, Soma. Soma presides over the brain, the mind and the emotions of human beings. This asterism is therefore associated with the mental/emotional phenomena of dreams and the imagination. This relates to the role of Meissa as the head of both the Greek Orion and the Chinese Tiger. Meissa is also a part of the manzil, or Arabic Lunar Mansion, of Al Hak'ah, "the White Spot", from which it's alternate title derives. According to Robson, this manzil "helps the return from a journey, the instruction of scholars, building, and gives health and goodwill.".
Of the nature of Orion Robson states, "According to Ptolemy the bright stars with the exception of Betelgeuse and Bellatrix are like Jupiter and Saturn. Mercury conjunct Nair al Saif, Orb: 0 deg 52 min
A courageous, willful, focused, aggressive and cunning character is indicated. There may be a tendency to engage frequently in battles or competitions. There may also be a capacity for diplomacy and communication.
Nair al Saif (also known as Hatsya) is Iota Orionis in the constellation of Orion, the Hunter. It is the brightest star in Orion's sword. The name Nair al Saif is an Arabic phrase meaning "the Bright One in the Sword". Orion's sword represents his force of will and strength of character. It also alludes to a theme of violence and conflict. In China this star is known as Fa, or "the Middle Man". The influence of this star may therefore relate to mediation between separate (and perhaps opposing) individuals, factions or forces.

Mars conjunct Baham, Orb: 0 deg 02 min
The willingness to take risks for personal gain is denoted. Ambitious, enterprising, opportunistic and intrepid attributes may manifest. Success and prosperity may be achieved.
Baham is Theta Pegasi in the constellation of Pegasus, the Winged Horse. The name Baham is derived from the Arabic word Biham, meaning "Domesticated Animals". It has also been referred to as Al Hawa'im, or "Thirsty Camels", and Sa'd a Bahaim, "Good Luck of the Two Beasts". In ancient Arabia, the ownership of livestock was synonymous with wealth. The influence of Baham may relate to worldly gain and the accumulation of resources. Its placement within the constellation of Pegasus speaks of the vitality, ambition and enthusiasm which fuel the pursuit of such material attainment.
In Greek myth, Pegasus was the immortal winged horse who aided the hero Bellerophon in defeating the monster Chimera. Pegasus was said to be the offspring of the oceanic god Poseidon in his form as horse god (horses have long been associated with the ocean) and the serpent-haired gorgon Medusa. Pegasus sprang from Medusa's neck when she was beheaded by Perseus. Pegasus has come to be a symbol of ascension and victory. According to Robson, the constellation Pegasus "gives ambition, vanity, intuition, enthusiasm, caprice and bad judgment".

Mars conjunct Ruchba 1 Cyg., Orb: 0 deg 46 min
A romantic, idealistic, sophisticated, and sentimental individual prone to forming deep emotional attachments to others is indicated. Emphasis may be placed on physical beauty and comfort in ones surroundings. Artistic, poetic or aesthetic talents may develop.
Ruchba 1 is Omega 1 Cygni in the constellation of Cygnus, the Swan. The name Ruchba is derived from the Arabic phrase Al Rukbah al Dajajah, meaning "the Knee of the Hen". This title describes Ruchba's position within the constellation.
Cygnus has historically been perceived as some type of bird. In ancient Arabia Cygnus was identified as a hen, while in the Roman Empire it was thought to be a swan. The Romans described the nature of the swan in a myth about a man named Cycnus who was in love with Phaeton, the son of the Sun God Helios. Phaeton convinced his father to let him drive the Chariot of the Sun for one day, a foolish act which resulted in Phaeton plummeting from the sky into the river Eridanus. Cycnus was so distraught that he plunged repeatedly into the river searching for Phaeton's body until the gods took pity on him and transformed him into a swan. This story reveals the sentimental and emotional nature of Cygnus. The Swan in Classical myth is often a representative of the goddess Venus. The influence of this constellation may therefore relate to the Venusian themes of love, sensuality, beauty, pleasure and art.
This graceful and elegant bird is also allied with Jupiter, as he took the form of a swan to impregnate the mortal Leda with Helen of Troy (the most beautiful woman on earth), her sister Clytemnestra, as well as the twins Castor and Pollux (Gemini). Of this constellation Robson writes, "Cygnus gives a contemplative, dreamy, cultured, and adaptable nature. The affections are ill-regulated and unsteady, and talents develop late. There is some love of water and swimming and the arts. By the Kabalists it is associated with the Hebrew letter Resh and the 20th Tarot Trump, Judgment.".

Mars conjunct Sadalachbia, Orb: 0 deg 05 min
Secretive, private, reserved and eccentric attributes are denoted. The tendency to appear dispassionate or emotionally detached in public is likely. The individual may maintain unconventional beliefs or act in an idiosyncratic manner. Interests may lie in obscure, esoteric or occult subjects. Pursuits relating to science, health and medicine are highly favored.
Sadalachbia (or Sadachbia) is Gamma Aquarii in the constellation of Aquarius, the Water Bearer. The name Sadalachbia is derived from the Arabic phrase Al Sa'd al Ahbiyah, meaning "The Lucky Star of Hidden Things" or "The Lucky Star of Hiding Places". Allen notes that this title was ascribed to this star "because when it emerged from the Sun's rays all hidden worms and reptiles, buried during the preceding cold, creep out of their holes". Themes of privacy, obscurity and esotericism are certainly implied by the origin of Sadalachbia's name.
This star is included in the nakshatra, or Vedic Lunar Mansion, of Shatabisha. Shatabisha means "the hundred physicians", and is associated with medicine, healing and science. It is often symbolized by an empty circle. Shatabisha's ruling deity is Varuna, the moody Lord of Oceans. This Neptune-like figure grants a secretive and imaginative quality to Shatabisha. This asterism is traditionally associated with hermeticism and introversion, much in accordance with the significance of the name Sadalachbia.
Sadalachbia is also a part of the manzil, or Arabic Lunar Mansion, of Al Sa'd al Ahbiyah, from which this star's name originates. According to Robson, this manzil is favorable for "taking medicine", an activity directly relating to the nature of Shatabisha as described in the Vedic tradition.
The ancient Chinese incorporated Sadalachbia into the asterism Fun Mo, meaning "the Tomb". The image of the tomb recalls the subterranean "hiding places" associated with this star in Arabia.
The constellation of Aquarius is most commonly interpreted as Ganymede. This mythological figure was known to be the most beautiful mortal man alive. For this reason Zeus sent his eagle (the constellation Aquila) to capture Ganymede and bring him to Olympus to be the cup bearer of the gods. The constellation Crater is said to be his Divine Goblet. Aquarius has also been associated with the pourer of the waters of the Great Flood, an event in which the Earth was drowned. This story is common to many ancient cultures and is referred to in the Babylonian Epic of Gilgamesh, the Akkadian Atrahasis Epic and other ancient texts. Yet another mythological interpretation of the water-bearing man is Deucalion. In the Greek version of the Great Flood story, Deucalion was warned by his father Prometheus (still imprisoned for giving the gift of fire to humanity) to build a wooden chest. When the great rains came flooding the earth, Deucalion and his wife Pyrrha floated in the wooden chest for nine days and nine nights until they finally landed on Mount Parnassus, the only bit of dry land around. It was there that they were instructed by an Oracle to repopulate the barren earth by "throwing the bones of your mother over your shoulder". Deucalion and Pyrrha interpreted this to mean the bones of Gaia, the Mother Earth, or in other words stones. They each threw a handful of stones over their shoulders, and Deucalion's stones transmogrified into men, while Pyrrha's became women. The themes of chaotic upheaval and regeneration associated with the sign astrological sign of Aquarius are present in this tale.
On the nature of the stars which comprise this constellation Robson quotes Ptolemy, "The stars in the shoulders of Aquarius operate like Saturn and Mercury; those in the left hand and in the face do the same: those in the thighs have an influence more consonant with that of Mercury, and in a less degree with that of Saturn: those in the stream of water have power similar to that of Saturn, and moderately to that of Jupiter.". Sadalachbia is located in the shoulder region of the celestial water bearer, so according to Ptolemy it is similar in influence of Saturn and Mercury. The reserved and secretive attributes associated with Sadalachbia relate to solemn Saturn, while the allegiance of this star with the practice of medicine may correspond to Mercury.
Robson also asserts that Aquarius is associated by the Kabalists with the Hebrew letter Nun and the 14th Tarot Trump, Temperance. The figure typically portrayed on this Trump is indeed a person engaged in pouring fluid from one vessel to another. Robson goes on to say that "The beauty of Ganymedes and his flight through the air also link (Aquarius) to the ideas of personal charm and aviation. . .".

Jupiter conjunct Al Kalb al Rai, Orb: 0 deg 27 min
Faithfulness, fidelity, dependability and a sense of honor are denoted. The individual may enact the will of others. Strong allegiances are possible.
Al Kalb al Rai is Rho 2 Cephei, in the constellation of Cepheus, the King. Al Kalb al Rai is an Arabic term meaning "the Shepherd's Dog". This title evokes themes of duty, guardianship and loyalty.
Cepheus, the King of Ethiopia, was the husband of Queen Cassiopeia and father of Princess Andromeda. According to Allen, Cepheus was "highly regarded in early times as the father of the Royal Family". He is emblematic of the phenomenon of kingship, and the themes which surround it; responsibility, control, order, leadership, power and pride.
On the nature of this constellation, Robson states that "According to Ptolemy, Cepheus is like Saturn and Jupiter. It gives authority and a sober mind, sometimes making it's natives judges or arbiters, but exposes to cruel and severe trials".

Jupiter conjunct Alcyone, Orb: 0 deg 30 min
Energetic, charismatic, exuberant, inspired, courageous and venturesome attributes are denoted. A beneficent, nurturing and generous nature may develop. Navigational, exploratory, athletic, philosopical and mystical pursuits are favored. A position of eminence and respect may be gained.
Alcyone is Eta Tauri in the constellation of Taurus, the Bull. Alcyone is the brightest among the Pleiades star cluster, also known as the Seven Sisters. In Greek myth the Pleiades were the seven daughters of the Titan Atlas and the Sea Nymph Pleione. They were the companions of Artemis; Goddess of Wilderness, Hunting and the Moon. Alcyone is derived from ancient Greek. There are several translations for this name, one of which is "Golden". According to Robson, "From early times (Alcyone) was thought to be the central Sun round which the universe revolves, and was Al Wasat, the Central One, of the Arabs, and Temennu, the Foundation Stone, of the Babylonians.". In India Alcyone was known as Amba, or "Mother".
In one ancient Greek legend, Alcyone is a young woman who marries a man named Ceyx, son of the Morning Star. The couple blasphemously refer to one another as "Zeus" and "Hera". This sacrilege angers Zeus, who blasts Ceyx' boat with a lightning bolt while he is at sea. Alcyone, upon hearing of her husband's death, drowns herself in the ocean. At this point Zeus has mercy on the couple and transforms them into "halcyon birds", or kingfishers, stilling the winds for seven days each year so they could build their nests. The word halcyon, derived from Alcyone, now describes times of peace, prosperity and tranquility.
Many myths from around the world speak of the Seven Sisters. Hesiod referred to them as the "Seven Virgins". In China they are called "The Seven Sisters of Industry" and are revered by females. In India they are the wives of the Seven Rishis, or Divine Sages. According to Allen, "the Australians thought of them as Young Girls playing (music) to Young Men dancing. . . and the Solomon Islanders as Togo Ni Samu, a Company of Maidens.". Almost universally, they are personified in the feminine. This star cluster has long fascinated humanity. A bronze disk found in Nebra, Germany, called the "Nebra Sky Disk" portrays several celestial bodies including the Pleiades. This artifact is one of the oldest known representations of the night sky, dating to around 1600 BCE.
In Vedic astrology the Pleiades are comprise the nakshatra, or Lunar Mansion, of Krittika. Krittika means "the One Who Cuts", and is symbolized by a blade or flame. Krittika's ruling deities are Karttikeya, the Commander of the Godly Forces and son of Shiva the Great Destroyer, and Agni, the God of Fire. According to legend Karttikeya was raised and educated by the Seven Sisters, much like the upbringing of Zeus in the care of Amalthea. Krittika is a dynamic asterism associated with leadership, motivation, honor, the learning process and purification by fire. The Pleiades also correspond to the 1st manzil, or Arabic lunar mansion, Al Thurayya, which means "the Many Little Ones". According to Robson, Al Thurayya is "profitable to sailors, huntsmen and alchemists.".
On the nature of the Pleiades Robson states, "According to Ptolemy they are of the nature of the Moon and Mars; and, to Alvidas, of Mars, Moon and Sun in opposition. They are said to make their natives wanton, ambitious, turbulent, optimistic and peaceful.". Ebertin seems to agree with Robson's analysis, stating, "The Pleiades correspond in their influence to a combination of Moon and Mars. If well connected otherwise, this points to ambition and endeavor, which have as their result preferment, honor and glory.".

Jupiter conjunct Atik, Orb: 0 deg 40 min
Gentle, clever, eloquent, comedic, amorous, swift, subtle, devious and observant characteristics are denoted. Creative, romantic and social pursuits are favored, as are those relating to productivity, fecundity, communication and renewal.
Arneb is Alpha Leporis in the constellation of Lepus, the Hare. The name Arneb comes from the Arabic Al Arnab, which also means "Hare". This constellation is thought to represent the hare pursued by the Great Hunter Orion, whose stellar figure can be seen in the night sky directly above that of Lepus.
In many ancient African, European and Near Eastern cultures, hares and rabbits were mythologized as clever trickster-characters. They were lauded for their agility, speed and elusiveness. The Creek people of the Southeastern United States have a legend about a hare stealing fire from heaven and bringing it to humanity, not unlike the Greek rebel Prometheus. This archetype is contemporarily embodied in such tricky characters as Br'er Rabbit and Bugs Bunny.
Hares were also associated with fertility, owing to their ability to rapidly expand their populations. In Ancient Greece these creatures were allied with Aphrodite (Venus), the Goddess of Love. This symbolic meaning of the hare lives on today in the Easter Bunny, our mascot of the spring festival of rebirth. The name Easter itself derives from the Anglo-Saxon word Eostre, which denotes the ancient Germanic goddess of the East, the Dawn, and the Spring season. Eostre is also fond of rabbits.
Hares and rabbits have also been widely associated with the Moon and Lunar cycles. In China and Japan, the "Rabbit in the Moon" is said to mix the Elixir of Immortality. Lunar cycles are akin to fertility cycles. In Ancient Egypt the constellation Lepus was known as "the Boat of Osiris". It was in this boat, according to legend, that the goddess Isis pieced together Osiris' dismembered body in order to bring him back to life. The story of Osiris' death and rebirth is not unlike that of Jesus' death and rebirth celebrated at Easter. Osiris was a deity of agriculture and fertility in Egypt. His resurrection mirrors the rebirth of the warmth and light of the Sun in the Spring season.
Of the astrological influence of this constellation Robson quotes Ptolemy: "Lepus is like Saturn and Mercury". However, based on the mythic symbolism of the Hare and the Boat of Osiris, it is our opinion that Lepus has qualities similar to that of Mercury (the trickster), Venus (love, lust, fertility) and the Moon (cyclic nature of life). Robson also says of Lepus, "It gives a quick wit, timidity, circumspection, fecundity and defiance". These are most certainly quintessential attributes of the Hare.

A strong sense of individual purpose is indicated. The illumination and discovery of ones unique abilities may play a crucial role in life. Passionate, active, ambitious and motivated qualities are also denoted. Expressive, athletic, philosophical, creative, religious and scientific pursuits are favored. Public respect may be gained.
Asterope (also known as Sterope I) is 21 Tauri in the constellation of Taurus, the Bull. This star is among the cluster called the Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters. In Greek myth the Pleiades were the seven daughters of the Titan Atlas and the Sea Nymph Pleione. They were the companions of Artemis; Goddess of Wilderness, Hunting and the Moon. Asterope is named for the Pleiad Sterope, whose name means "Lighting". Sterope is mentioned in Greek literature as the consort of Ares (Mars). By the God of War she mothered King Oenomaus of Pisa, whose famous chariot race against Pelops is the legendary origin of the Olympic Games.
Many myths from around the world speak of the Seven Sisters. Hesiod referred to them as the "Seven Virgins". In China they are called "The Seven Sisters of Industry" and are revered by females. If well connected otherwise, this points to ambition and endeavor, which have as their result preferment, honor and glory.". The association of Sterope with Ares illuminates the Martian influence cited by these writers. Owing to the meaning of the name Sterope, a Jupiterian force may be active is her functioning as well.

Jupiter conjunct Atlas, Orb: 0 deg 08 min
Great determination, perseverance, self-sufficiency and fortitude are indicated. The individual may feel obliged to maintain order and stability. The desire to serve humanity or to provide an essential service to others may manifest.
Atlas is 27 Tauri in the constellation of Taurus, the Bull. Atlas is associated with the star cluster known as the Pleiades, or the Seven Sisters. In Greek myth the Pleiades were the companions of Artemis; Goddess of Wilderness, Hunting and the Moon. Atlas represents the father of the Pleiades, a Titan. This star is in close proximity to the star Pleione, named for their sea nymph mother.
The mythic Atlas was the son of the Titan Iapetus, a legendary ancestor of the human race, and Asia, an Oceanic spirit. Atlas was best known as a war leader of the Titans when they fought against the Olympian Gods for control of the world. After the Titans were defeated, Zeus punished Atlas by stationing him at the western edge of the world, where his task would be to eternally hold up Ouranos, the Sky, in order to keep him separate from Gaia, the Earth. Thus the muscular figure of Atlas is typically depicted struggling beneath the burden of the cosmic sphere. He is known as "He Who Holds Up the Heavens" and "the Endurer". He seems to embody the qualities of steadfastness, perseverance and willpower often associated with the greater constellation of Taurus.
As for his seven lovely daughters, their praises have been sung in all times and places on Earth. Hesiod referred to them as the "Seven Virgins". In China they are called "The Seven Sisters of Industry" and are revered by females. In India they are the wives of the Seven Rishis, or Divine Sages. Jupiter conjunct Errai, Orb: 0 deg 23 min
A proclivity towards shouldering responsibility, maintaining order or upholding traditions may be indicated. The individual may act as a leader, guardian or mentor.
Errai (also spelled Er Rai or Arrai) is Gamma Cephei in the constellation of Cepheus, the King. The name Errai is derived from the Arabic Al Rai, meaning "the Shepherd". In China Errai is known as Shaou Wei, meaning "Minor Guard". This star is expected to replace Polaris as the Pole Star around 3000 CE.
Many ancient legends point to the symbolic significance of sheep and their tenders. In Egypt, the god Khnum, who was seen as responsible for the creation of human bodies as well as source of the Nile River, bore the head of a ram. Some of the most important figures in the Old Testament of the Bible including Abraham, Isaac and Moses were shepherds. These patriarchs concerned themselves with the governance of the spiritual lives of people as well as the physical lives of sheep. Sheep were sacrificed to God in Judaic and Islamic traditions as well as in ancient Greece and Rome. Sheep came to be associated with religious followers and shepherds with religious leaders, as seen in early Christian depictions of Jesus the Good Shepherd. Muhammad, the prophet of Islam, was also a shepherd. This association of shepherds with religious leaders gave birth to the term pastor, which originally meant shepherd, and now denotes a religious leader in Protestant Christianity. The shepherd's crooked staff, originally used to direct the movements of animals, came to be a symbol of rulership over humans as well. Egyptian pharaohs were often portrayed holding such a staff, along with a flail, demonstrating their office. This phenomenon is seen in the Ancient Babylonian and Assyrian civilizations as well. Today high ranking officials in both Catholic and some Protestant Christian Churches carry crosiers, which are stylized renditions of the crooked staff, to symbolize their position of spiritual leadership. Due to the symbolic meaning of the shepherd, themes of leadership, guidance and authority may correlate to the nature and influence of Errai. These themes are also reflected in the context of the greater constellation of Cepheus.
In Greek myth, Cepheus, the King of Ethiopia, was the husband of Queen Cassiopeia and father of Princess Andromeda. According to Allen, Cepheus was "highly regarded in early times as the father of the Royal Family". He is emblematic of the phenomenon of kingship, and the themes which surround it; responsibility, control, order, leadership, power and pride. Jupiter conjunct Keid, Orb: 0 deg 15 min
A warm, radiant, energetic, brilliant and possibly charismatic individual deeply interested, involved and immersed in life is indicated. There may be little tolerance for apathy, resulting in the desire to motivate others or initiate needed changes. The process of discovering and developing talents and interests throughout life may be a central facet of one's existence. Creative pursuits are favored, and a high level of productivity may be attained.
Keid is Omicron 2 Eridani (or 40 Eridani) in the constellation of Eridanus, the River. The name Keid is derived from the Arabic Al-Qaid, meaning "the Eggshells". This title arose from the ancient Arabic perception of this star as the cast off shells of the ostrich eggs hatched in the star Azha (Eta Eridani). Azha means "the Hatching Place". Keid's neighbor Beid (Omicron 1 Eridani), whose name means "the Egg", represents an unhatched egg from the nest. The egg is a universal symbol of creation, fertility and the origins of life. The Hindu Vedas speak of the Brahamanda, or "First Egg", from which all existence originated. Similarly, current cosmological theories propose that around 13.7 billion years ago all mass was compacted into a singularity, or "Cosmic Egg", which began to expand outward in the "Big Bang". Most animal life begins within an egg, just as the universe may have begun within this singularity. Whereas Beid, the unhatched egg, implies themes of potential energy and creativity in it's incubation phase, Keid represents new life in the process of commencing. The cast off shells symbolize that the creative fertilization period has culminated, successfully producing magnificent life.
Eggs also symbolize Solar rebirth. Our tradition of painting Easter Eggs originated in ancient Persia, were eggs were decorated for the Nowruz festival, a celebration marking the Spring Equinox (the return of longer and warmer days and the beginning of the mating season). The yolk of an egg is similar in color and form to the Sun, and provides warmth and nourishment to it's developing animal as the Sun provides the foundations for life on earth. The greater constellation of Eridanus, the River, has a Solar theme as well. This constellation is most commonly associated with the Greek tale of Phaeton, the son of a mortal woman and the Sun god Helios. The great transformations described in these tales mirror Keid's essential theme of metamorphosis from potential to actuality.
Of the nature of this constellation, Robson writes "According to Ptolemy, all the stars with the exception of Achernar are like Saturn. Eridanus gives a love of knowledge and science, much travel and many changes, a position of authority, but danger of accidents".

Jupiter conjunct Maia, Orb: 0 deg 48 min
A nurturing, creative, productive, enduring, responsible, encouraging and gentle nature is indicated. Intelligence, pragmatism and good business sense are also denoted. A deep love of nature is likely. Artistic, agricultural, managerial and educational pursuits are favored.
Maia is 20 Tauri in the constellation of Taurus, the Bull. Maia is named for the oldest, shyest and most beautiful of the seven sisters. In ancient Greece she was associated with Gaia, the Earth Goddess. In ancient Rome she was known as Maia Maiestas, the Goddess of the Spring. In this form she was associated with Fauna, the female counterpart of Faunus (the Roman Pan), and thus with joy, hope, pleasure and delight. The fair month of May was named in her honor. Maia was also the mother of Hermes (Mercury). In this sense the Mercurial themes of intelligence, wit, trickery, travel, healing, eloquence, commerce, invention and inspiration may be attributed to her as well.
In Vedic astrology the Pleiades comprise the nakshatra, or Lunar Mansion, of Krittika.
As for the constellation of Taurus, which contains the Pleiades, it represents a Bull.

Jupiter conjunct Merope, Orb: 0 deg 47 min
An empathetic, contemplative and sensitive character is indicated. Moral and ethical questions may play a prominent role in life.
Merope is 23 Tauri in the constellation of Taurus, the Bull. Merope, whose name is often translated as "With Face Turned", was the wife of Sisyphus, the murderous king of Corinth. She was so ashamed at her husband's crimes that she turned her face away in despair.
Many myths from around the world speak of the Seven Sisters. Hesiod referred to them as the "Seven Virgins". In China they are called "The Seven Sisters of Industry" and are revered by females.

Jupiter conjunct Pleione, Orb: 0 deg 06 min
Emotional, nurturing, adaptable, intuitive and contemplative qualities are denoted. The ability to create a lasting legacy is implied. Many fortuitous twists of fate may occur, resulting in growth and gain. Ambition and pragmatism are indicated as well. Pursuits involving water, such as sailing, swimming and marine biology are favored.
Pleione is 28 Tauri in the constellation of Taurus, the Bull. This star is among the cluster called the Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters. In Greek myth the Pleiades were the seven daughters of the Titan Atlas and the Sea Nymph Pleione. This star represents the Oceanid mother of the seven sisters. Oceanids, or Water Nymphs, were nature spirits inhabiting various aquatic habitats. These primordial beings were the daughters of the Titans Oceanus and Tethys. Each presided over a spring, lake, pond, pool, river or sea. The origin of the name Pleione is obscure. One theory states that it is derived from the Greek plein, or "to sail". The element of water and all ventures involving the ocean are no doubt linked to the influence of this star.
In Vedic astrology the Pleiades comprise the nakshatra, or Lunar Mansion, of Krittika. As for the constellation of Taurus, which contains the Pleiades, it represents a Bull.

Jupiter conjunct Sterope II, Orb: 0 deg 43 min
An individual adept at optimizing their circumstances is denoted. An interest in worldly power, a position of importance within society, and good organizational abilities are probable.
Sterope II is 22 Tauri in the constellation of Taurus, the Bull. This star and its close neighbor Sterope I (21 Tauri, or Asterope) are a part of the Pleiades star cluster. In Greek myth the Pleiades were the seven daughters of the Titan Atlas and the Sea Nymph Pleione. They were the companions of Artemis; Goddess of Wilderness, Hunting and the Moon. This star is named for the Pleiad Sterope, whose name means "Lighting".
The association of Sterope with Ares illuminates the Martian influence cited by these writers. Owing to the meaning of the name Sterope, a Jupiterian force may be active is her functioning as well.

Jupiter conjunct Taygeta, Orb: 0 deg 55 min
A strong desire for freedom and autonomy is indicated. A deep love of the natural world may manifest. Physical activity, outdoor pursuits and athleticism are favored.
Taygeta is 19 Tauri in the constellation of Taurus, the Bull. This star is a part of the Pleiades star cluster, also known as the Seven Sisters. In Greek myth the Pleiades were the seven daughters of the Titan Atlas and the Sea Nymph Pleione. They were the companions of Artemis; Goddess of Wilderness, Hunting and the Moon. The Pleiade Taygete, for whom this star is named, is particularly noted for her devotion to Artemis in the her form as Potnia Theron, or "Mistress of Beasts". According to legend, Taygete invoked the power of the virginal goddess when she was pursued by Zeus. Artemis transformed Taygete into a female deer. Mount Taygetos in Southern Greece, dedicated to Artemis in antiquity, was named in honor of this loyal nymph.

Jupiter conjunct Theemim, Orb: 0 deg 36 min
Expeditions, adventures and journeys may play an important role in life. A helpful and caring attitude towards others is indicated, as is a love of activity and excitement. Athletic, medical and therapeutic endeavors are favored.
Theemim is Upsilon 2 Eridani in the constellation of Eridanus, the River. The name Theemim may be derived from the Arabic Al Tau'aman or the Hebrew Teomim, both meaning "the Twins". This title was applied to this star and its close neighbor Upsilon 1 Eridani.
Sets of divine twins appear in many myths from around the world. They are often portrayed as benevolent and auspicious characters imbued with healing powers. Classical myth provides the figures of Castor (Kastor) and Pollux (Polydueces). These mythical twins, together known as the Dioscuri or "Children of God", were the children of Zeus in his form as a swan and the mortal Leda. They were also the brothers of Helen of Troy and Clytemnestra. The Dioscuri are portrayed in myth as brave adventurers who accompanied the hero Jason on his quest for the Golden Fleece. They are also associated with the worship of the Anatolian Great Goddess, Cybele. These twins were revered for their ability to cure disease as well as their skill in boxing and riding horses. Vedic myth presents a similar pair of divine twins, the Ashvins, also known as the Ashvini Kumaras. These brothers, like Castor and Pollux, were brave adventurers. They traveled on horseback and were revered for their helpful disposition and knowledge of medicine. Their names are Nasatya, or "Kind, Helpful" and Dasra, meaning "Enlightened Giving". Similarly, the Mayan sacred text the Popol Vuh relates the legend of Hunahpu and Xbalanque. These twins, like Castor and Pollux and the Ashvins, had many heroic adventures. They were noted for their triumph over the evil god Vucub Caquix. They were also revered for their athletic prowess. Classical myth also speaks of the twin deities Artemis and Apollo, who embody the dualistic Lunar and Solar forces. These four legendary god-born twosomes may have represented the concept of harmonious duality in their respective cultures. The themes associated with divine twins may relate to the influence of the Theemim duo as well.
As for the greater constellation of Eridanus, it is most commonly associated with the Greek tale of Phaeton. Phaeton was the son of a mortal woman and the Sun god Helios. Another mythical figure associated with this constellation is Aquarius, the Water Bearer. The river Eridanus is sometimes identified as the water which flows from the Water Bearer's vessel. In Aquarius' role as the catalyst of the Great Flood which drowned the Earth according to Ancient Near Eastern legend, Eridanus would in fact be the Great Flood itself.

Saturn conjunct Botein, Orb: 0 deg 03 min
Tenacious, dynamic, passionate, powerful and magnetic qualities are indicated. A fascination with mysteries and processes of metamorphosis may develop. Intense emotions and devotions are possible. The ability to nourish and support others is also denoted, as is an aptitude for leadership. The individual may excel in creative, athletic, executive or social pursuits.
Botein is Delta Arietis in the constellation of Aries, the Ram. The name Botein is derived from the Arabic Al Butain, meaning "The Belly". This star, along with Epsilon Arietis compose the 28th manzil, or Arabic Lunar Mansion, which is also named Al Butain. According to Robson, this manzil "helps the finding of treasures" and is good for "reconciliation with royalty". The belly is the part of a mammal's body which digests the nutrients necessary to fuel the body's growth, regeneration and movement. Perhaps this process of transmutation, in which matter is turned into energy, corresponds to the functioning of Botein.
The constellation of Aries represents Chrysomallos, the Golden Winged Ram. According to Greek myth, this creature was sent by Nephele (whose name means "Cloudy") to rescue her children Phrixus (whose name means "a Ripple of Wind on Water") and Helle from being murdered by their jealous stepmother Ino (aunt of the god Dionysus). In some versions of this story, it is the god Hermes (Mercury) rather than Nephele who is credited with the gift of the Golden Ram. On their journey, Helle fell off the ram and drowned in the Dardanelles (a narrow strait which connects the Aegean Sea and the Sea of Marmara), after which it was named Hellespont, or "Helle's Sea". Her brother Phrixus survived the journey and arrived in Colchis (now known as Georgia) where he sacrificed Chrysomallos to the god Ares (Mars). The magical hide of the Chrysomallos was the Golden Fleece sought by Jason and the Argonauts. Many authors have attempted to decode the symbolic meaning of the Golden Fleece. Robert Graves claimed that it was symbolic of Zeus in his ram form, while Palaephatus thought it represented an esoteric alchemical text. Marcus Porcius Cato and Marcus Terentius Varro associated the Golden Fleece with royal power, which would correspond to Grave's analysis, as Zeus is a deity embodying royal power. Such power was certainly accorded to Phrixus. After his sacrifice of Chrysomallos to Ares, he was offered marriage to Chalciope, the princess of Colchis. Of the nature of this constellation Robson quotes Ptolemy, "The stars in the head of Aries possess an influence similar in it's effects to that of Mars and Saturn; those in the mouth act similarly to Mercury, and in some degree to Saturn; those in the hinder foot to Mars; those in the tail to Venus". Although Botein is "the Belly", this star actually lies in the tail of Aries, so according to Ptolemy it is similar in influence to Venus. Robson also relates that Aries is associated by the Kabalists with the Hebrew letter He and the 5th Tarot Trump, "the Pope" (also known as "the Hierophant").

Saturn conjunct Rana, Orb: 0 deg 02 min
An amorous, emotional, instinctual and creative nature is indicated. Strong passions and desires may motivate the individual. Close bonds with ones romantic partners and/or children play a vital role in life. Travel, adventure, and many unexpected changes for the better are also denoted. A position of great responsibility may be attained.
Rana is Delta Eridani in the constellation of Eridanus, the River. The name Rana is Latin for "frog". Frogs were emblematic of fertility cycles in Ancient Egypt, were millions of these amphibians popped up after the annual flooding of the Nile. The Egyptian goddess Heqet, who presided over childbearing and midwifery, bore the head of a frog. Heqet was the consort of Khnum, the god responsible for fashioning human bodies. It was she who aided Isis in birthing Horus and in fact breathed life into the newborn god. The Greeks also associated frogs with fertility, as well as lust, thinking them to be allied with the goddess Aphrodite. In China and Japan frogs are often associated with rain, as well as health and prosperity. Due to these symbolic associations, some emphasis on fertility, procreation and vitality may be ascribed to the influence of Rana. In India, Rana is a royal title meaning "Prince".
Uranus conjunct Misam, Orb: 0 deg 15 min
Strength of character, self-confidence, and the ability to act quickly and decisively are indicated characteristics. A love of adventure and excitement is also denoted.
Misam is Kappa Perseii in the constellation of Perseus, the Champion. The name Misam comes from the Arabic Al Misam, or "the Wrist". This title designates Misam's position within the celestial figure of Perseus.
The legendary Perseus was celebrated in ancient Greece for slaying the Gorgon Medusa and using her severed head (the sight of which turned living creatures to stone) to defeat the sea monster Ceto and save the princess Andromeda. He represents the archetypal Hero, who through his courage defeats the forces of destruction and champions life and beauty. Perseus is typically depicted with a winged helmet and sandals, a curved sword and a cloak, while holding aloft the head of the Gorgon in a victorious stance. The magical accoutrements of Perseus were bestowed on him by the Gods, showing their favor for his endeavors. Hermes (Mercury) gave him the winged helmet and sandals for swift flight, while Athena granted him her sword for protection in battle. Hades (Pluto) gave Perseus a cloak of invisibility, so he could move towards his enemy unseen. These items represent the qualities necessary for victory: speed and agility, courage and stealth.
According to Robson, this constellation is similar in essence to Jupiter and Saturn and " is said to give an intelligent, strong, bold and adventurous nature".

Neptune conjunct Labrum, Orb: 0 deg 56 min
An intelligent, intuitive, empathetic and emotionally sensitive nature is indicated. A deep longing for spiritual and emotional fulfillment resulting in many strange adventures is likely. There may be a tendency towards romantic idealism, fantasy and potentially melodrama. Pursuits involving travel, poetry, music, theatre and the arts are favored.
Labrum is Delta Crateris in the constellation of Crater, the Cup. The word Labrum is Latin for "the Lip", in this context ostensibly the lip of the Cup. Robson asserts that this star is "symbolically called the Holy Grail". The attributes associated with this mythical vessel may therefore illustrate the astrological influence of Labrum. Christian myth speaks of the Holy Grail (sometimes synonymous with the Holy Chalice) as the dish or goblet employed by Jesus at the Last Supper, and alternately as the cup which was used to catch his blood as he died. The magical powers associated with the Grail include producing an unlimited amount of food and drink, granting a youthful immortality to it's bearer, and becoming attainable only to the pure of heart. The Arthurian legendary cycle of medieval Britain concerns itself with the quest for this precious object. Through the captivating stories of the Arthurian knights' brave endeavors to possess the Grail, the phrase "Holy Grail" itself became a metaphor for anything desperately sought and deeply desired. It has been widely interpreted as an icon representing spiritual attainment, or the ultimate and everlasting union with the divine. The desire for such an experience may correlate to the functioning of Labrum.
The Arthurian Grail legends may have been inspired in part by ancient Celtic myths, such as the tale of Bran the Blessed. These stories speak of sacred cups and cauldrons possessing the same magical abilities as the Grail. It's capacity to provide unlimited nourishment also parallels the ancient Greek legend of the cornucopia, the ever-nourishing horn of the goat goddess Amalthea. Labrum, as the Holy Grail, may denote an individual's search for (and attainment of) such a source of perpetual spiritual sustenance.
In Western mysticism the cup alludes to the feminine principle. In the Tarot the suit of Cups is synonymous with the element of Water and the realm of Emotion. The Grail Quest legends are decidedly emotional rather than intellectual in nature. They are poetic tales of romance and deep longing. The protagonists of these stories follow their hearts rather than their heads, and their paths often resemble spirals more than straight lines.
According to Robson, Crater "is like Venus and to some degree like Mercury. It gives a kind, generous, cheerful, receptive, passionate and hospitable nature, with good mental abilities, but subject to apprehension and indecision.". Of Labrum specifically Robson elucidates; "It gives ideality, psychic power, intelligence, honor and riches in disgrace and purifies to salvation.".

Exuberance, dynamism, a love of movement and a deep enjoyment of life are also signified. Literary pursuits, journalism, comedy, sports, dance and theatre are favored.
Talitha Australis is Kappa Ursae Majoris in the constellation of Ursa Major, the Great Bear. The name Talitha is derived from the Arabic Al Kafzah al Thalithah, meaning "the Third Spring of the Gazelle". Australis is Latin for "Southern". This star shares its name with its close neighbor Talitha Borealis (Iota Ursae Majoris). These two stars were known in China as Shang Tae, or "High Dignitary", a title conferring eminence. Gazelles are a type of antelope known for their gentleness, beauty, grace, speed and agility. The origin of this star's name alludes to one of the gazelle's most unique gifts, its ability to jump (or "spring") high into the air. This activity is not only used to increase speed but also to display strength and frighten predators, proving that although dainty the gazelle is not so easily intimidated. In India, gazelles are identified with Vayu, the God of Wind. Vayu relates to breath as well as prana, the animating force which characterizes living beings. The movement and flow of breath and vital energy, along with the bold and mercurial qualities of the majestic gazelle may describe the influence of the Talitha duo.
Talitha is also an Aramaic word meaning "Young Woman". In the Gospel of Mark Jesus says "Talitha kum", meaning "Young woman arise", when bringing a dead girl back to life. This story deals with power over the animating life force associated with gazelles through the god Vayu in Hindu tradition.
Ursa Major, also known today as The Big Dipper, is one of the brightest and most recognizable constellations in the night sky and has historically fascinated humanity. In England it is seen as a plough, and in Burma as a lobster. In Arabia this constellation is seen as a funeral procession, with the three stars forming a line (the "tail" of the bear) being mourners following a coffin. In Greek myth the Great Bear was Callisto, whose name means "Most Beautiful". Callisto was a nymph who was transformed into a bear by the goddess Artemis when she discovered that Callisto had been impregnated by Zeus. The child Callisto gave birth to was Arcas, who was known to be a great hunter. Iroquois legend also refers to Ursa Major as a bear, with the four stars which form a rectangular pattern being the bear itself and the three which form a line being hunters in pursuit
Robson states that, "According to Ptolemy, Ursa Major is like Mars. It is said to give a quiet, prudent, suspicious, mistrustful, self-controlled, patient nature, but an uneasy spirit and great anger and revengefulness when roused. By the Kabalists it is associated with the Hebrew letter Zain and the 7th Tarot Trump, The Chariot.". According to Allen, the association of this constellation with a bear "may have arisen from Aristotle's idea that it's prototype was the only creature that dared to invade the frozen North." Thus the Great Bear is a symbol of strength, fortitude and perseverance.

Asc. conjunct Atria, Orb: 0 deg 15 min
The ability to turn ideas and inspirations into tangible reality is denoted. A highly creative and productive nature is likely. The desire to help others navigate through times of transition or difficulty may also manifest. Organizational, architectural, artistic, theatrical, musical, mechanical, scientific and ideological pursuits are favored. An extraordinary level of accomplishment is possible.
Atria is Alpha Trianguli Australis in the constellation of Triangulum Australis, the Southern Triangle. The name Atria is a contraction Alpha Trianguli Australis, using the first few letters of each word. This constellation was first designated by Johann Bayer in 1603. Although it originally had no mythological associations, Christian astrologers came to call this constellation "the Three Patriarchs", signifying the Biblical figures of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Thus Triangulum Australis became associated with a three-fold masculine power in duality with the feminine trinity of the constellation Triangulum (the Northern Triangle), which was once known as Sicilia. In Classical times, the earth goddess Ceres was the patron deity of the Mediterranean island of Sicily, whose flag to this day still bears three ears of wheat (sacred to Ceres) as well as the triskelion, a symbol comprised of three interlocked human legs. According to myth, Ceres loved Sicilia so much that she convinced Jupiter to place it in the night sky as the constellation Triangulum. There are many three-fold gods and forces, both masculine and feminine, to be found in world mythology. The Greeks personified Fate as the three Moirae, depicted as a triad of women spinning, allotting and cutting the thread of life. They similarly perceived the attributes of Grace and Fury as the threefold Charites and Erinyes. Icons of the Matres, or Three Mother Goddesses, often shown with small children, flowers and food, were widely popular throughout North-West Europe from the 1st to the 5th Century CE. The Greeks also acknowledged Hecate, the goddess of the Crossroads, in a triple form. In ancient Italy Diana Nemorensis ("Diana of the Wood") was portrayed as three figures signifying her three roles as Goddess of the Wilderness, Goddess of the Moon, and Pyschopomp. Perhaps the nature of these triple goddesses reflect the essence of the constellation known as the Northern Triangle. As for the threefold masculine divinity to which the Southern Triangle (containing Atria) relates, his face can be seen in the Indian trinity of Brahma ("the Creator"),Vishnu ("the Preserver") and Shiva ("the Destroyer"). Like the Moirae, this trio of gods concern themselves with the beginning, the middle and the end of things. Similarly, the Christian trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit is said to be a deity which is both three and one, as are the Three Pure Ones of Taoism. Geometrically, the triangle is a significant in that three is the first number of lines which can form a shape. Thus the number three is synonymous with the manifestation or actualization of form. As the Tao te Ching states, "Tao begets one, one begets two, two begets three, and three begets all things". Robson states that the influence of Triangulum and Triangulum Austailis is similar to that of Mercury. Mercury (Hermes) takes the role of the Pyschopomp, or leader of souls from one place to the next, as do the triads of Hecate and Diana Nemorensis. Mercury and Hecate are also both associated with Crossroads. In other words, they are involved in transitions from one state to the next, such as the change from two dimensions (basic duality, abstract existence) to three (the beginning of complex forms and structures).

Descendant conjunct Bellatrix, Orb: 0 deg 12 min
Daring, adventurous, alert, confident, cunning, aggressive, contentious and stealthy attributes are denoted. An insubordinate or audacious manner may develop. The individual may excel at putting ideas into action, summoning courage and making quick decisions. Critical thinking, strategy and debate may be natural inclinations. A love of mental and/or physical challenge is also indicated.
Bellatrix is Gamma Orionis in the constellation of Orion, the Hunter. Bellatrix is the third brightest star in this constellation and the twenty-seventh brightest star in the sky. The name Bellatrix is the feminine form of the Latin Bellitricus, meaning "Warrior". Thus it is the "Female Warrior", and is often referred to as the "Amazon Star". The Latin root bellum, or "War", is also the origin of the English words belligerent and bellicose. Bellona was the Roman goddess personifying War. She is portrayed in a similar manner to the warrior-women of Scythia known to the ancient Greeks as the Amazons. Bellona and the Amazons are typically depicted as stern and stalwart figures wearing metal war-helmets and holding spears and shields. Another deity that is portrayed with a similar demeanor and accoutrements is the Greek Athena. Athena, the mind-born child of Zeus, was the guardian deity of the city of Athens as well as the goddess of heroic endeavors, wisdom and civilization. The attributes and pursuits of Bellona, the Amazons and Athena may reveal a facet of the essence of Bellatrix. Bellatrix has also been called Al Najid, an Arabic term meaning "the Conquerer", and more specifically Al Murzim al Najid, or "the Roaring Conqueror/ the Conquering Lion". Sekhmet was the ancient Egyptian goddess of War, an analog of the Roman Bellona. Sekhmet is shown in art as a female figure with the head of a lion. Sehkmet's noble, ferocious and unyielding nature may also be relevant to the functioning of Bellatrix. Like the lion, Bellatrix has long been linked to royalty. This star, along with Alpha and Lambda Orionis, formed the ancient Euphratean asterism Kakkab Sar, or "Constellation of the King". Bellatrix is also included in the asterism relating to the nakshatra, or Vedic Lunar Mansion, of Mrigashira. Mrigashira, meaning "the Deer's Head", is presided over by the Indian Moon God, Soma. This nakshatra is associated with dreams, imagination, changeability, playfulness, charm and magic. The legend of Mrigashira relates how the deer (Bellatrix) ran from the pursuit of the hunter (Betelguese). Similarly, in the South American rainforest which shares it's name with the warrior-women of ancient Greece, Bellatrix is personified as a young boy in a canoe who flees from an old man (Betelguese again). Bellatrix seems to be described in myth as either a fearless warrior ready to stand and fight or a delicate creature running for it's life. This fight/flight paradox may be a crucial aspect of Bellatrix' inherent character.
Of the astrological influence of Bellatrix Robson states, "According to Ptolemy it is like Mars and Mercury: and to Alvidas, Mercury and Mars in good aspect. It gives great civil or military honor, but danger of sudden dishonor, renown, wealth, eminent friends and liability to accidents. . .If prominent in a woman's map it makes her loquacious. . .". The Martian influence mentioned by Robson may relate to this star's courageous and aggressive nature (which is personified as Bellona, the Amazons, Athena and Sekhmet), while the Mercurial influence that it emits may relate to the elusive, stealthy and mutable qualities embodied by the Amazonian "boy in the canoe" and deer of Mrigashira. Ebertin confirms the Mars/Mercury influence of Bellatrix, and goes on to state that, "This will make for characteristics such as quick decision taking, thoughts and plans being realized with energy, courage, fighting spirit, strategic talents, ability to organize, discrimination, but also often the reckless aggressiveness of a belligerent dare-devil.".
As for the greater constellation of which Bellatrix is a part, it represents Orion, the legendary ancient Greek hunter. There are many divergent stories surrounding his character, but he was generally thought to have been a mighty and fearless hunter who was defeated by a giant scorpion (the constellation Scorpio), which in some versions of the tale is dispatched by Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt. It has been suggested that the name Orion comes from the Akkadian "Uru-anna", or "Light of Heaven". The three stars of Orion's belt represent the three different animals being hunted, while the outer stars represent the hunters.

Descendant conjunct Capella, Orb: 0 deg 43 min
Inquisitive, idiosyncratic, tenacious, playful, enterprising, broad minded, philosophical and studious attributes are denoted. The individual may delight in exploration and discovery. A sense of humor may be implied. There may also be a natural inclination towards leading, teaching, supporting or nurturing others. An interest in education and the propagation of knowledge may develop. Great respect may be gained. Creative, productive, mechanical or inventive talents may also manifest. Artistic, scientific, theatrical, venturesome, intellectual and comedic pursuits are favored, as are all activities relating to leadership and care-taking.
Capella, the eleventh brightest star in the sky, is Alpha Aurigae in the constellation of Auriga, the Charioteer. The word Capella is Latin for "Little She Goat". This name refers to Amalthea, the Goat Goddess that cared for the infant Zeus in a remote cave while the young god was being hidden from his father Cronos, who sought to destroy him. Amalthea means "Tender Goddess", and symbolizes caring, nourishment, and protection from harm. It has been said that Capella represents Amalthea's broken horn, the Cornucopia or "Horn of Plenty" from which the young Zeus took nourishment. In this capacity, Capella is also known as Jovis Nutrix, or "Nurturer of Jove (Zeus/Jupiter)". Alternate names for Capella include the Latin Hircus and the Arabian al-'Ayyuq , both of which also mean "Goat". Goats are generally revered for their curiosity, playfulness, tenacity and perseverance. These qualities may relate to the influence of Capella as well. In Persia this star was known as Bozban, meaning "Goat Keeper", a word which became synonymous in Persian literature with both extraordinary distance and a light shade of red.
In Classical antiquity this star was thought to portend storms, and thus was titled "the Rainy Goat Star". Zeus/Jupiter, who was raised by Amalthea (Capella) was the God of Storms, as evidenced by his favorite weapon, the Thunderbolt. The connection of this star to Jupiter is found in both the Amalthea legend and it's Classical association with rain. This connection is further supported by Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa in his text De Occulta Philosophia, where Capella is listed among the fifteen Behenian Fixed Stars. These stars were considered by Medieval astrologer/magicians in Europe and Arabia to be potent sources of power. The name Behenian derives from the Arabic word bahman, or "Root", as these stars were perceived as points of origin for the essences of the planets. In this text Agrippa associates Capella with the planet Jupiter, and also Saturn. Agrippa also lists two terrestrial materials thought to correspond to the essence of Capella, the herb thyme and the stone sapphire. Similarly, in Jyotish (Vedic astrology) yellow sapphire corresponds to Jupiter and blue sapphire to Saturn. Another name ascribed to Capella is the Hawaiian Hokulei, or "Wreath of Stars". This title is insightful because although Capella appears to us as one star, it is in fact a binary pair of yellow giant stars adjacent to a second, fainter binary. The ancient Peruvians called Capella Colca, or "the Shepherd". This interpretation is akin the English tradition of calling Capella "the Shepherd's Star". The Borong tribe of Australia refer to Capella as Purra, or "Kangaroo", an animal that flees the pursuit of two hunters, the nearby stars Castor and Pollux.
The Akkadians called Capella Dil-gan-Babill, meaning "Star of Babylon", and Dil-gan I-ku, or "Messenger of Light". The Akkadian association of Capella with Babylon may derive from the Babylonian's own correspondence of this star with their patron deity, Marduk. Marduk rose to the position of primary god of the Babylonian pantheon around the same time that the city of Babylon became the political and economic center of the Euphrates Valley. Not surprisingly, Marduk correlated in Babylonian astrology to the planet Jupiter. As the King of the Gods, Marduk played an equivalent role in Babylonian myth to the Greek Zeus, Roman Jupiter or Indian Indra. This further demonstrates the connection between Capella and Jupiter.
Several ancient temples were oriented towards the setting of Capella. One is the Egyptian Temple of Ptah in Memphis, which is currently estimated to be about 7200 years old. Ptah is a Creation God of the Egyptian pantheon. According to ancient Egyptian religious texts, it is he who dreamt of the creation of the world and then brought it into existence with his voice. He was thus invoked at the "Opening of the Mouth Ceremony" during Egyptian funeral rites, in which the priest would open the mouth of the deceased in order to release their soul. As Creator, Ptah was also the patron deity of craftsmen and artisans. Vedic tradition also associates this star with the Creator. In India Capella is known as Brahmaridaya, or "the Heart of Brahma". Brahma is one of the Trimurti, the three Hindu divinities embodying the forces of Creation (Brahma), Preservation (Vishnu) and Destruction (Shiva).
Of the astrological significance of this star Robson states, "According to Ptolemy it is of the nature of Mars an Mercury; and, to Alvidas, of Mercury and the Moon. It gives honor, wealth, eminence, renown, a public position of trust and eminent friends, and makes its natives careful, timorous, inquisitive, very fond of knowledge and particularly of novelties.". Ebertin agrees with Ptolemy on the "Mercury-Mars" nature of Capella, elucidating that, "The Mercury properties are more eminent, and show in love of learning, studiousness and interest in research. These properties are accentuated if Capella is connected with the Moon, Mercury or the Ascendant. In plain people, these properties make themselves known by persistent, annoying and inquisitive curiosity. According to tradition, this fixed star also makes people somewhat odd, and there is a tendency for such natives to cut capers. . .Connected to beneficial stellar bodies, natives will become popular, receive honor and have success in material enterprises.".
As for Auriga, the constellation which claims Capella, it is thought to represent one of several famous charioteers of Classical myth. One is the Myrtilus, the son of Hermes (Mercury) and the charioteer of King Oenomaus. Myrtilus was bribed by Pelops to lose in a race between the two, thus ultimately betraying the King. Auriga may also represent the god Hephaestus. Hephaestus was the son of Hera, the Queen of the Gods. When he was born his mother thought he was so ugly that she threw him in distain from Mount Olympus. He was immortal, and thus survived the fall, but his legs were broken. Despite being ugly and crippled, Hephaestus was a manual and mechanical genius. He created many wonderful inventions, including a chariot for his own transportation, becoming "the Charioteer". This "lame smith" was the patron deity of artisans, craftsmen, metal-workers, inventors, sculptors and technicians. In this way he is analogous to the divinities of Creation associated with Capella; Ptah and Brahma. His Roman equivalent is the god Vulcan, from whose name the word "volcano" originates. Auriga is sometimes identified with Vulcan's son Erichthonius, the King of Athens, who also devised a chariot to hide his deformed feet.
Of the influence of this constellation Robson states, "According to Ptolemy the bright stars are like Mars and Mercury. This constellation is said to give self-confidence, interest in social and educational problems, and happiness, but danger of great vicissitudes. The native is fond of country life and may be a teacher or have the upbringing of young people. By the Kabalists Auriga is associated with the Hebrew letter Samech and the 15th Tarot trump, the Devil.". The inclination towards education mentioned by Robson relates to Amalthea's tutelage of Zeus. It may also be noted that the Tarot Trump cited as corresponding to this constellation typically depicts a man with the legs of a Goat.

The ability to endure much hardship and adversity may be denoted. The individual's strength may lie in their patience and perseverance.
Thabit is Upsilon Orionis in the constellation of Orion, the Hunter. The name Thabit is derived from the Arabic Al Thabit, meaning "the Endurer". This title emphasizes the Great Hunter's fortitude and tenacity.
Orion was a legendary hunter known for his strength, courage and skill. He was eventually defeated by a giant scorpion (the constellation Scorpio) which in some versions of the tale is dispatched by Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt. MC conjunct Mufrid, Orb: 0 deg 40 min
An innovative, unconventional, independent, free-thinking, insubordinate and highly creative spirit is indicated. The individual may advise, guide or assist others in their endeavors. Inspiration may be gained though solitude in nature.
Mufrid is Eta Bootis in the constellation of Bootes, the Herdsman. The name Mufrid is from the Arabic Al Mufrid, meaning "the Solitary One" or "the Particular One". This star was designated by the Arabic phrase Al Mufrid al Ramih, "the Solitary Star in the Lance Bearer", and known alternately as Al Rumh al Ramih, "The Lance of the Lance-Bearer". Themes of independence and autonomy are alluded to by this star's title. In addition, the lance may represent mental focus and ambition. Mufrid was also called Al-Sak, "the Shin Bone", designating the position of this star within the figure of Bootes. Mufrid is included in the Chinese asterism Yew She Ti, which means "Officer Standing on the Right Hand of the Emperor". The inclination to assist influential figures may be suggested. Along with Arcturus, this star was also included in the ancient Sumerian asterism Sib-zi-anna, "Shepherd of the Heavenly Flock", a character equivalent to the divine herdsman Bootes.
The character represented by the constellation Bootes is somewhat elusive. Some call Bootes "the Bear Watcher", due to its proximity to Ursa Major. It has been identified with Arcas the Hunter, the son of Callisto, the nymph who was transformed into a bear after her love affair with Zeus. Bootes is more commonly, however, identified as a celestial herdsman. According to one Greek legend, the figure of Bootes was the person who invented the plough. This agricultural innovator so pleased the goddess Demeter that she petitioned Zeus to place him in the sky for posterity. The name Bootes comes from the Latin root bos or bov, meaning "cow", from which we derive the English word "bovine". This identifies Bootes as a cowherd rather than a shepherd. Cows are traditionally associated with the qualities of stability, patience, strength, dependability and stubbornness. They have been revered for the life-sustaining properties of their meat, milk and hides. Another bovine divinity acknowledged in ancient Egypt is Apis, a solar bull god associated with agriculture and nourishment. Apis was said to be the soul (ka) of the god Osiris.
Of the nature of Bootes Robson states, "According to Ptolemy the influence. . .is like that of Mercury and Saturn. It is said to give prosperity from work, strong desires, a tendency to excess, and a fondness for rural pursuits, together with some liking for occultism. The Kabalists associate it with the Hebrew letter Teth and the 9th Tarot Trump, the Hermit.".
