Saturn into Gemini

Gemini may be scattered and easily distracted but Saturn cannot be blamed for having those traits. What strengths and capabilities does Gemini have that Saturn can turn into solid achievements? Gemini is a knowledge sign it loves to gather information. It is also a communication sign and enjoys sharing what it has heard, read, learned and collected.

Saturn gave us a preview of what its transit through Gemini might hold in store for us, between 9th of August 2000 and 17th of October 2000 - the Guild's 9th birthday. From the 20th of April 2001 and for the next 2½ years Saturn will pave the way through this mercurial sign.

We associate Gemini via its ruler with the 3rd house. In the third house with have communication, travel, merchandising, transportation, education, youth and our neighbourhood. In British Columbia we are experiencing the third week of a transit strike. This is hurting the young and elderly (it is Saturn) the most as they are finding it harder to get from A to B to cope with daily life (3rd house). We are also facing an election with our plummeting economy an issue. Is there structure behind those words? It cannot stay idle chatter for too long; Saturn is not the planet to stand for it. On a provincial level let's hope Saturn in Gemini can help put structured focus on our education and transportation systems.

I view the ingresses of planets into signs as images. When Saturn moved into Pisces the image brought to my mind was a fence around a garden. The border would force the plants to grow upward instead of outward. As Saturn moved to Aries I thought of a railroad tunnel, forcing movement onward rather than wondering in all directions. I imagined the ingress into Taurus as pouring concrete into a foundation, learning to make the most of what we have and not hankering after that which we don't own. As Saturn is getting ready to move into that quicksilver sign of Gemini I think of cobble-stoned roads winding effortlessly to a destination I think of as crystallized wisdom.

Talk about Saturn and Time. 2½ years certainly seems a long time when it's yet to be experienced, yet many of us can remember the last time Saturn transited through Gemini - July 71 through August 73, which was 29 years ago.

I feel that to make the most of a planetary transit, you need to contemplate what it is you want to accomplish with it, and then there are fewer events that come as surprises. Saturn is the taskmaster and teacher after all. This time Jupiter has been along to pave the way, i.e. to whet your appetite. Jupiter is notorious for building castles in the air. Jupiter will continue in Gemini until July 13. What is your pie in the sky? What have you created for yourself in your mind's eye.

What is it you wish to accomplish that is typically Gemini ruled? Which houses are activated and which natal planets is Saturn going to invite to participate in the "happenings "?

Gemini may be scattered and easily distracted but Saturn cannot be blamed for having those traits. What strengths and capabilities does Gemini have that Saturn can turn into solid achievements? Gemini is a knowledge sign it loves to gather information. It is also a communication sign and enjoys sharing what it has heard, read, learned and collected. Gemini is the thinking process and Saturn could definitely give those thoughts structure and discipline. Gemini is trade and merchandising - could you turn your visions into a solid business. Can you envision the demand when Saturn shifts into Cancer? I think Saturn's mini cycles have a lot to do why businesses require approx. 3 years worth of resources.

I took the preview seriously and have been preparing for this shift in a more mundane fashion. Books, papers, notes and my word processing programs became my focus. This web-site was launched with this shift. I have also started to organize an astrological primer - a portion of it is under the basics - aspects.

Gemini and the 3rd house represent the writing nook, library, reading area, neighbours, siblings, vehicles (I do recommend checking the brakes and wiring), and our every day lives and daily environment. The third house accomplishment is the things I have learned, and with Saturn's help that learning can be applied.

When preparing and planning for your experience of Saturn in Gemini take into account the houses. The 1st is about me and my attitude; it describes not only your approach and appearance but also what it is you are striving to be. To prepare for Saturn's transit through 1st spruce up the façade of your house, put new curtains up in the front window, or clean up the garden. Or give your own appearance or wardrobe a make over.

In the 2nd house we have money, values and self-worth as well as priorities. Revamping the front room, rumpus room and/or those areas where you entertain might help prepare your personal 2nd house for this transit. The 4th is about home, roots and subjective view of self; and our personal foundations laid during formative years or in past lives depending on your take. Tackle the kitchen for 4th house transits. The 5th is creativity, children and FUN; don't ignore the importance of fun even when pursuing a creative endeavor. Make yourself an area for pursuing a creative endeavor or clean up the existing playroom.

The 6th is about routine and application of skills and knowledge; it is important to schedule life sometimes. This one is easier the clutter drawers or the junk closets need organizing or perhaps the laundry room or is it perhaps time to clean out your wardrobe? The 7th are our external relationships not only with our significant other but everyone. How about re-organizing the pictures on the walls, the China cabinet or the bedroom. The 8th house is a heavier house everything from death to taxes and birth to re-incarnation lives here. With Saturn here it really is the time to delve deeper into life's mysteries that aren't such mysteries in hindsight. Cleaning up for 8th house is perhaps the easiest, you guessed it the toilet and/or bathroom or easier still if you live on the countryside, empties the septic tank. The 9th is about religion, convictions, higher learning but it is also a very materialistic house that likes to keep you busy in the here and now part of life. Clean up the roof or the gutters, or perhaps you need to create a nice space for meditating - so where did you hide that hammock? The 10th is not only career but also avocation, standing in society and being the best you can be. With Saturn here it might be a perfect time to examine who you want to be when you are all grown up. This to me is the show rooms or areas of the house, but it is also the rock paths and the concrete slab time to get rid of that green stuff that growing on it. Maybe your picket fence needs touching up. The 11th is not only groups and love received; it is also hopes, wishes and dreams (goals). With Saturn here it is to time to define and realize some of those dreams. This is where we make our 10-year plans, i.e. where do I really want to be in 10 years? I know the telephone is a 3rd house, Mercury kind of thing but to me the 11th house is the "telephone" space, it is also the computer corner, etc. 12th is that hidden house behind the veil, time to lift the veil and see what really is and what was just an illusion. A good to time face fears, insecurities and learn about faith, which needn't be blind. To clean up for a 12th house transits attack those hidden nooks and crannies where memories and items you can't part with live. © Anne Massey

Let's hear your comments - there is tons of room on this site for articles. They will be recycled and circulated - it is the internet. Has the internet become a third house entity?
