scorpion There are three water signs in the Zodiac (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces). Water signs are private and guarded, and approach life from an emotional stance. They have an inherent need to protect themselves from the unfamiliar, unknown or untested. It tends to take longer to get to an individual whose mode of operation is emotional based on sensing their environment. To emote is to feel, and sometimes feelings are not rational as they are based on past experiences, past responses and reactions. We cannot rationalize emotions and we cannot tell someone what is the correct emotion to feel; nor can we state that there is a correct emotional response to something we see, hear or experience.

It is no good pushing this elemental into anything if it does not feel right to them. Cancer is a little timid, Scorpio is not that trusting and Pisces is so acutely tuned into the unseen that I won't even contemplate a "fit-for-all-word.

Fire initiates endeavours, sparks the inspiration. Earth is the elemental force that helps give form and moulds to our visionary ideas. Air is the element we need to think and analyze, to formulate these ideas further. Water is the element we use to determine how what we have created makes us feel and how it can feed our needs.

Hollywood has taught us that when something sad happens such as a death or a loss, we need to weep uncontrollably and be incapable of rational action. We don't all feel this way. Each one of the water signs has a different take and as individuals we have each of these three water signs in our make influencing three or more areas of our lives. (To identify the areas we need to know the particulars of birth such as the date of birth, the time of birth and the place of birth. Next we need to look at planets and the aspects that are formed. We also look at the houses, which represent areas of life, and how these are influenced by the zodiacal sign on the cusp of the house as well how the planet which rules the particular house is positioned.)

Scorpio is ...

Scorpio is a resolute, determined and deeply feeling sign. It does not readily embrace change, preferring to maintain status quo. Scorpio senses their environment like an x-ray machine penetrates flesh. Scorpios appear to see right into your inner core. That is how intensely they get involved in a relationship – they need to connect at a soul level, anything less would be far too shallow for the Scorpio to expand real effort. These individuals do not have flirt in their bag of tricks. You have their undivided attention, sometimes to the point of uncomfortable. Fixed signs are likely to stay in the relationship until it becomes totally dead. A heavy statement for a heavy sign. Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) typically make very committed partners in any relationship. Scorpio is also known as the detective of the zodiac – so you would be wise not to try and get anything past them; they will find it eventually. A Scorpio scorned is a veritable enemy.

Scorpios are intense they do need to know you on an intimate level, superficial is not in their make-up. While they may choose to remain enigmatic and aloof, those they want to bond with are not allowed that luxury. You cannot keep secrets from your Scorpio partner, but they may keep some from you. Once they do trust you, which follows after they intimately know you, those secrets they keep aren't about anything that bears importance to your relationship.

You can share anything with your "soul-mate" Scorpio, and your secrets are safe, unless you choose to wrong the Scorpio and the stinger comes out. You do not need to change to endear yourself to your Scorpio, just be yourself flaws and all, once you have the Scorpio's deep devotion, there isn't a partner more understanding. But be prepared to have your soul probed. Know that although you may feel like a "possession" your are a cherished one.

Mode: Fixed

The second modality is fixed. The fixed signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. Within each mode all of the elements are represented. Taurus is fixed earth, known for sustenance, follow through and it role as the provider. Taurus knows how to carry out the actions started by Aries, it does not mind the hard work it involves nor the time it takes. In nature the little buds on crocus and daffodil may come out in April with the Sun in Aries but the blooming starts with Taurus. Leo represents fixed fire, all fixed signs are interested in maintaining status quo, and change is not that welcome. In terms of fire this might be the smoldering log in the fireplace that won't be extinguished. When the Sun is in Cancer our crops mature, but when the Sun gets into Leo it's time to get ready to harvest. Fixed signs cannot be pushed or cajoled to do anything they do not want to do, all of these signs stubborn, not just Taurus the first one in the sequence. Scorpio is the muddy, dark period when earth becomes dormant. Mother earth's surface takes a welcome rest in preparation for a fertile spring. Leaves fall of trees, grass wilts away and in the northern parts the earth prepares for a blanket of snow. The Sun in Aquarius follows the ambitious Capricorn phase, the Sun is in its fall in Aquarius, but if you have ever witnessed the brilliant sunshine in snow country in February – he does not appear weak, the hours of daylight may be short but they are potent. In Finland February is called the pearl month, and I have always wondered if the glistening Sun on the cold snow banks is what got the month its name. All of the fixed signs have patience and staying power, they do not measure time in seconds or minutes but in years and decades, each one knows how to wait patiently.

It takes a while to get to know these intense, protective and deep individuals. This is the sign that rules death, taxes, and other things inevitable – this back drop seems to filter into their daily lives, Scorpios are very serious about life, getting them to lighten up is an arduous task. Scorpio is also the sign associated with sex, I think we should read this as orgasm, it is that high they look for. But, what their sex or private life is like, is exactly that - private (remember, they are fiercely protective of that privacy). This sign also likes to be in control not only of their own life but those of others, which can be a challenge to those around this energy. Who copes best with this intense, loyal and protective partner?
